This microwave came with the house I just bought a few months ago. As I stated in the title it is a solid microwave. I use it mainly to re-heat meals or make popcorn. Pros: 1. Multitasking - You can set the timer and still heat up something at the same time. If I am doing a large amount of cooking and need two timers (the oven and microwave), it is nice that I can heat something up in the microwave without having to cancel the timer. 2. Light: Nice bright light both inside and out. 3. Reheating - Food seems to be reheated evenly. Cons- 1. Popcorn button - this has never seemed to have worked properly no matter what kind of microwave. My popcorn burns using this button. I have tried it several times and just don't use it. 2. The low setting for the exhaust is still pretty loud. Hard to have a conversation in the kitchen, but the exhaust does a good job. 3. Placement of the start and stop buttons in my mind need to be switched. I am always hitting the stop instead of the start which is a bit annoying. Most people are cooking something for an even amount of minutes (no seconds) i.e. 1:00. When I put in 1:00, I instinctively want to hit the button right next to it (which is the stop). I guess because I am used to going left to right and up to down. So to go back up to hit the start button has taken some getting used to. But after some time, I got used to it.

We bought this microwave a week ago specifically for the convection function. I tried to use the convection feature today and it errors out with an F5 code that oddly enough cannot be found anywhere in the terrible excuse for a manual that was included. I will be returning this horrible lemon of a product for a refund and buying a convection microwave from a different manufacturer.

Microwave / Convection oven
from Chicago, IL
Comments about LG Stainless Over-The-Range Microwave Oven:
This LG is easy to cook meals with the functionality of sensor cooking along with choosing microwave, convection or combo individualized cooking.
Service and delivery comments:
My LED under cabinet lighting was broken by the installer due to not waiting for his partner to assist him in lifting the microwave, however ABT rectified the situation and sent their electrician to fix it.

We like It!
from Apple Valley, MN, United States
Our primary use is the microwave, but we have used the convection and combination microwave/convection functions. We are still in the "learning/experimentation phase" when using the combination mode. All in all we are very happy with this oven. One addition that would be very helpful, would be at backlighted control panel. It is dark and hard to read in lower light conditions.
Worth the extra for Convection.

The microwave works exactly as expected. The convection is an added bonus; it truly works as a very good convection oven. Takes no time to pre-heat, bakes perfectly in 25% less time.

I bought this a month ago and have never liked a microwave as well as this one. It does everything and more
Good, but not perfect

Overall this microwave works well, has all the features I want, I'm happy with it. I only have two complaints: The fan while using convection oven is very loud and also the light on the inside isn't really bright enough to see your food well through the glass door.
EXHAUST FAN IS DEAFENING
from Port Washington, NY, United States
Any of the good features of this microwave unit, of which there are many, are overshadowed by the roar of the exhaust fan. At level one it is loud, at level 5 it is deafening

Haven't used the microwave yet, waiting to finish our remodeled kitchen. I did read the booklet & it has a lot of nice features & two ways to cook. I like the idea of using it as a convention oven with metal pans. It's not just any microwave that you can use metal in. The microwave looks good with the other appliances & this gives me more oven cooking space which sometimes I need.
Well this was a surprise...

Bought all new LG kitchen and laundry appliances due to the excellent reviews in several leading websites and consumer publications. I have yet to regret it! The stainless metal exteriors are a snap to clean, and each device feels solid, well thought out and constructed. The microwave purchase was a bit of an after thought. My old microwave was the only device from my original home purchase that I actually liked. I hated to see it go, but it was a hideous white that would not fit in at all with the new LG kitchen. So I ordered the largest available at Best Buy simply because the wattage of the LG's was no where near what my old unit was. This unit is rated around 1000 watts where my old one was 1600, so I was concerned about how well it would cook. The thought was quickly vanquished from my mind. After cooking two chickens and some popcorn I could immediately tell that technology has truly advanced from my 13 year old unit! The new features such as a built in convection oven (wow) just kind of spun me around. You can microwave WHILE cooking with convection for crisp AND fast!? I had NO idea this microwave (if you can call it just that) had combined two of my kitchen appliances into one. After using it for some time I can tell you its not quite as good as my toaster over at crisping, but the fact it can thaw, cook, crisp "close" to what my toaster oven does, in HALF the time... its a done deal. Bye toaster oven, hello counter space! Popcorn... my old unit did it great, this one... its just showing off! Throw any size in, the LG detects its size and starts popping. I stand by as it cooks to be sure it doesnt burn, and so far it hasnt. Several different brands (i love my popcorn...) have all come back just right. The only thing I wish was improved... its a small thing, the light bulb on the inside needs to be about twice as bright. I can barely see inside while it cooks. Energy savings all around compared to my old unit, but I will bump the wattage on the interior bulb next time its replaced. (if possible)
