I chose this dishwasher over a dozen others because it enables me to turn off the heat cycle to let the dishes air dry; that worked fine in my previous dishwasher in this dry climate and spares electricity. Initially the dishwasher did not drain properly but GE took charge and scheduled a technician to fix it. Despite the machine baffling technicians at first, replacement of the pump resolved the issue and it is performing as expected now. The GE reps are courteous and efficient, ensuring that I got a good product. The warranty lives up to expectations, so if you ever need it take advantage of it. I am pleased to now have a nice new machine that does a fine job of cleaning dishes. I hope this will be the last of the 4 dishwashers I have owned. I'm a bit old fashioned and don't get along with electronic push buttons as well as with the simple old dials, but the dishwasher and I are communicating adequately these days even though I doubt I will ever use all the cycles and features. I image the delayed start and varied cycles will appeal to others, nonetheless. I am just grateful to be able to get clean dishes automatically.

I didn't care for the dark interior but I chose this dishwasher nonetheless because I could turn off the heat cycle to let the dishes air dry; that worked fine in my previous dishwasher in this dry climate and spares electricity. So what happens with this machine is that the dishwasher pumps out the rinse water and then, apparently, the water from the dishes sheets off, leaving a deep pool of slimey water in the bottom. I had a service person out but of course it did not pool water when it was run empty. Or if it is partially full. The standing water is 1/2 - 1" deep and it stays there until I wash the next load some days later. Now that the days are getting warmer the pooled water is beginning to smell. I held off writing my review for 5 months. Today the rubber gasket came off when the dishes were unloaded. It fit back into the groove all the way around in an inverted U. My son-in-law said it has come off before. Other than that the dishwasher cleans the dishes adequately (with pre-rinsing of crud since we don't run the dishwasher frequently). I like the little extra plastic basket for little things. I don't use the topmost fold down rack for short glasses, indeed, I don't try to load it to the max because of all the residual water. The secret to operating the push buttons can be discovered only via trial and error as the instructions on the front don't seem right and the manual doesn't specify details (e.g., for Cancel hold 3 seconds, but that doesn't seem to stop it).

Comments about GE Profile PDWT280VSS Built In Stainless Steel Dishwasher:
Very quiet, excellant cleaning..only negative thing is the color of the interior.....sometimes difficult to see items, especially in the bottom of washer. Would rather recommend white color inside instead of dark gray.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This dishwasher has not met my expectations. Does not clean dishes very well and the dishes are usually still wet.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Happy with except for a couple of things

Don't like where there silverware rack is. It will fall off very easily when loading the dishwasher. Top rack washing arm broke off within a month. Luckily it was still under warranty.
Small silverware holder

Would it kill you to include the installation kit with the product? You have to buy both the electrical and water supply kit separately. Silverware holder too small, takes too long to cycle, drains water in little spurts, rather than all at once. Why??
So far so good

Only had it for less than a week but it is quite and is doing a good job. Our old one was loud and you had to almost wash thee dishes before you put them in the dishwasher. This model is quiet and efficient.

We wanted a product for quality and cost. Didn't need all features most models have today.

I hope GE does not spin off the appliance division. Their appliances are the best.
Doesn't work. Broke when I bought it.

Never could use it. The computer board was broke. Will be raking it back for a refund.
Works well for a mid level machine. Best feature is that it cleans dishes! Machine is fairly quiet and easy to load. Long time fan of GE. Good value for a fair price. Clean modern look.
Very happy with the interior arrangement for dish placement. Low noise level is a huge plus.
