Not perfect but a necessary companion nonetheless

Comments about Sony Black Keyboard Skin For S Series Notebooks:
I decided to go for this one after witnessing my older VAIO accumulating crumbs and oil for 3 years. I really wasn't sure what to expect (as I purchased online) and I'm not at all disappointed. Now, if my new VAIO wouldn't have a backlit keyboard, this would have been almost perfect. But given the lit, minor missalignments between the real keyboard symbols and those imprinted on the skin cause a strange "outta-focus" effect that's a little annoying. A minor issue though. Typing: It takes a couple of days to get used to/feel comfortable typing over this rubber material, but it finally settles . A good side-effect is that it mostly eliminates that typical "ta-ka-ta-ka-ta-ka" noise of typing; typing is mostly silent. The drawback is that sometimes (not as many times to be called annoying but not as few to let it pass) letters get "duplicated", which means that you intend to type, say, a C and you get a CC on screen. Not entirely sure why this happens, but it certainly does. As for it's main purpose, which is to protect the keyboard, keep it crumbs-free, oil-free, etc.etc... it perfororms without question.

Overall, great product, I am still getting used to typing with it because it feels different, however, it is awesome! I have a black keyboard on my laptop so I bought the black skin, and you can hardly event tell it's there. So, it looks great, typing is not really affected, and it protects my keyboard. Awesome!
