Good product, but needs a couple of minor changes.

Two things need to be improved:? The door on the soap dispenser is difficult to close because the dispenser is not quite large enough to accommodate the soap packets.? The bottom rack tends to slide back into the dishwasher, even when its is pulled out as far as it can go.These are irritating deficiencies in an otherwise excellent dishwasher. I would never by another brand because I like having the silverware holder in the door.

My first Whirlpool dishwasher was 13 years old when it was replaced during a kitchen remodel. It never required a service call. My 2nd Whirlpool was 19 years old when the front panel separated from the door, so it was difficult to turn the dial and the detergent cup wouldn't open. This dishwasher also never needed to be serviced. Both models provided outstanding results cleaning the dishes. When I replaced it, I didn't even consider another brand with the great history I had with Whirlpool. This model has been in use for less than 7 weeks and I think I've only had 2 or 3 loads with everyhing has coming clean. The sliding tines on the front of the bottom rack seemed like a great idea, but the right and left sides seem to "fight" with each other. If the dinner plates are racked next to each other, one side will try to slide to the other side. The result is if the top of one dinner plate touches the bottom of the next plate, it will not get clean. Additionally, a spoon that has been used for yogurt will come out with the yogurt baked on. I have to put the spoon in water for a couple of minutes and rewash it.I understand that the energy and water consumption standards were changed in January, and that all dishwashers would take longer to run, but I never expected this diswasher to require pre-washing. I used Cascade in the past, but switched to Finish since it was recomended by Whirlpool. I did see an improvement in brighening white coffee mugs, but not in anything else.I typically wash a load every other day, so it's not like the dishes are sitting for a week between washes.

Very quiet Leaker
By Quality John

Comments about Whirlpool Gold Series Black Built-In Dishwasher:
Have this for just 4 years. It washed great when it worked. Was very quiet. Would shut off right away when I opened the door, even though there is no latch. However it now looks like we've had a leak from the circulating pump for possibly several weeks or months. Instead of dripping right out onto the kitchen floor, the extra water got sucked into the floor. I can buy the replacement part for $155 and replace it myself, but if this is a factory replacement kit, will I only get 4 years from this one. If you buy, drill a hole in floor underneath motor to drain water to basement.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Runs so smooth
I am so satisfied with this purchase. Everything always comes out clean and streak free. Once I push the start button I can not hear a sound. So glad I made this purchase.
WILL NOT DRY SILVERWARE PROPERLY
from Louisville, KY
Dishwasher cleans as it should, but when it comes to drying dishes, and silverware in particular, it simply does not dry them. Have had repair service out 4 times; replaced drying agent ben and other adjustments, but it still does not dry properly. Extended warranty is worthless. Have been told, : "it is to Whirlpool's specs" which in essence means a bunch of lights light up in sequences, but it does not dry.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Been using it about 2 weeks. I wish the dry cycle worked a bit better. I have to open the dishwasher and let them air dry after the drying cycle. Eco drying shouldn't even be an option.
Will Whirlpool engineers take responsibility for this?

Apparently this design has a very common problem with leaking from the seal around the diverter valve. My older dishwashers did not have such a device - i can only guess that it was some "green" effort to modify this design. Now, so many people (like me) reporting slow leaks from this diverter valve seal - ruining cabinets, making people sick from mold and mildew, costing much time and money to repair. Are all those risks of money, time, repair materials, ill health, ever considered in your environmental assessment when attempting to 'improve' a design? Where is the accountability?
Whirlpool Gold Series Dishwasher with EZ Adjustable Tines
from Murfreesboro, TN
I bought this dishwasher approximately one month ago and am pleased for the most part. The stainless steel looks great and doesn't show smudges for the most part and I like that. This washer is uber quiet and I mean uber. I have a large open floor plan and so there is no barrier to knock any sound down from the kitchen. This dishwasher doesn't even sound like it is on.... I installed it myself and had no problems doing so. I did have to buy an adapter which, in my opinion, should come with the washer, otherwise installed in less than one hour. My only complaint is that it's hard to put tall objects in the bottom rack as the design interferes with the top rotating wash dispenser from working correctly. Otherwise, I get nice clean dishes every time.

I purchased this dishwasher back on October 31st, specifically because of the confidence I have in the Whirlpool brand. To date, I am still very satisfied with this product, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

A little tricky at first to install, but I did it. Previous one from previoius owner not set up the same. Needed to change a few things to install properly. Super quiet, Can barely hear it running. So far its been worth the money. Looks great, Very happy with this purchase.

Mine came with my new house. My only complaint is that I didn't get the stainless steel tub but other than that it is a powerful and very quite washer. Love it.
