I love the fact that this stove has five burners, but I am still not able to wrap my brain around the fact that there is no burner small enough to use a small saucepan! Since the burners will not stay on if the pan is not the right size...I consider this a real "con" in it's design! Unless I am missing something in the manual, I see no way around this issue and what would have otherwise been a stellar review, gets less that five stars for this reason alone!

This cook-top has two significant flaws. One is that you can not use small pans (it won't turn on if pan the wrong size). The pan must fit the burner, and four burners are the same size (none are small), so rather useless. I specifically bought it for melting chocolate, and you would have to do it in a large saucepan, not small. Second serious flaw: if any water gets on the control panel, it turns itself off. Steam created from cooking a chicken dinner with lid on turned off unit. Another time, moisture from lid, when taking it off and turning it sideways to check sauce, turned off stove. Any moisture! Plus, when lock feature on, this thing beeps at you constantly if anything placed on cook top. Cook top is so useless that I am taking it out.

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:
Haven't fully experimented with cooktop yet, but it meets all expectation, and more. The speed of heat up is amazing, still learning temperature settings. Also suggest buying kitchen-aid induction cookware set, as some of my old pots wouldn't work. Also bought heat plate so old cookware cook still be used, just slower response on heat up.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Love my new cooktop!!!!!!!! Fast and easy to clean......

We purchased 1 year ago still in love with it. Heats liquids faster than my new microwave. I'm a chef and this stove is faster than my commercial gas stove at work.
Great Cooktop! Cooks like gas without the messy cleanup job!
Pros: Very efficient cooktop! Boils water faster than my previous gas range. Temperature adjusts very quickly. I haven't had one pot of pasta boil over yet! Love the layout with the large element in the center and the 2 bridges on the sides. I opted to do without the stainless trim and am thrilled at how easy it is to clean! Cons: I purchased a set of Cuisinart nonstick pans/lids and the 2 smallest pans do not work on the cooktop. I'm going to purchase an adapter so that I can use these pans. Not critical but I wish the lights in the display were blue and not red.

Very disappointed, not what I expected

I bought this for a kitchen remodel as an alternative to gas. Was not aware you had to buy induction specific cookware and could not use small pots. Yes, you can boil water fast but I've noticed that when you are using one burner and you turn on another the first one loses power and does not rebound completely. Temperatures are difficult to modulate and can go from too cool to too hot instantly. Utensils slide around on the cooktop and glass is surprisingly difficult to clean. I never thought I'd miss the old electric coil unit.

We replaced a conventional cooktop and downdraft vent with this KitchenAid Induction cooktop...WOW! What an amazing piece of technology! Heats quickly with the instantaneous control of gas with out the fumes and hot kitchen.
New induction stove top.

Haven't burned a thing yet also purchased kitchen aid pots and pans they are great just wish some were non stick. One upgrade I would like to see is a lighted control not a show stopper but would be nice. Stove top is super easy to clean and foods don't burn on the top, my wife had her resverations but she loves it now. One draw back is that not all induction cookware works on it, had to buy flat bottom pots and pans.

Got this installed just before the holidays, WOW even better than we were hoping for! Faster, more controllable, easier cleanup, and a host of useable features that we were unaware of ! You will not be disappointed, well worth the money, and great looking.
