I love the fact that this stove has five burners, but I am still not able to wrap my brain around the fact that there is no burner small enough to use a small saucepan! Since the burners will not stay on if the pan is not the right size...I consider this a real "con" in it's design! Unless I am missing something in the manual, I see no way around this issue and what would have otherwise been a stellar review, gets less that five stars for this reason alone!

This cook-top has two significant flaws. One is that you can not use small pans (it won't turn on if pan the wrong size). The pan must fit the burner, and four burners are the same size (none are small), so rather useless. I specifically bought it for melting chocolate, and you would have to do it in a large saucepan, not small. Second serious flaw: if any water gets on the control panel, it turns itself off. Steam created from cooking a chicken dinner with lid on turned off unit. Another time, moisture from lid, when taking it off and turning it sideways to check sauce, turned off stove. Any moisture! Plus, when lock feature on, this thing beeps at you constantly if anything placed on cook top. Cook top is so useless that I am taking it out.

      New induction stove top.

      By Alf1951

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

Haven't burned a thing yet also purchased kitchen aid pots and pans they are great just wish some were non stick. One upgrade I would like to see is a lighted control not a show stopper but would be nice. Stove top is super easy to clean and foods don't burn on the top, my wife had her resverations but she loves it now. One draw back is that not all induction cookware works on it, had to buy flat bottom pots and pans.

      A Sleek, Stylish, Performer

      By PMac

      from Worcester, MA, United States

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

We recently did a complete kitchen reno and went with all KitchenAid appliances. We have never had an induction cooktop but we love it. Aside from the sleek and stylish look it presents, it performs extremely well. Boiling water in a minute using the Boost feature. Excellent fried eggs. Incredible heat control. The timer can be set for a single burner to shut off when set. It's extremely easy to clean. The large center element is large enough to handle even our 10 qt. pot. We purchased the Emeril by All-Clad E914SC PRO-CLAD Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe PFOA Free 12 piece Cookware Set and it performs very well on this cooktop.

This makes cooking easy. The power boost boils water fast! This is a great feature! The simmer, double bridge elements and melt are great features. You will have to get induction pans. I would definitely recommend this item.

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

I love this induction top. Boils water in 30 seconds and the top isn't ever super hot to touch. I love to cook with dutch oven cookers and this top allows cast iron. Very easy to use. Make sure your pots are magnetic before you try to use. Pots and pans are easy to find and to overly expensive. We purchased the 36" and we are

      Cooks quickly

      By Bears

      from Sarnia, ON, Canada

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

The unit is lovely to look at but the burner rings are not visible enough but the warning noise indicates that the pot is not centered. The 5 inch pots do not work on this unit. We bought a new set of pots, soup pot, and frying pans as the unit requires magnetic metal bottoms; glass and enamel cookware do not work either. We really like the power surge to quick-start cooking. Also, the induction principle allows for quicker cooling of the surface than the non-induction. Not having knobs is fabulous for ease of cleaning and we bought 2 large black cutting boards to protect the surface between usages. They were a lucky find and should be offered for purchase with the unit. The manipulation of the various burners/settings takes some getting used to and would be frustrating to the technically challenged. Overall we are very pleased with the unit.

      By Richer

This is a decent cooktop, easy to clean and stylish. Occasionally some of the buttons are difficult to activate and it requires new pots and pans.

      Induction Cooktop

      By Shawn99

      from Alberta, Canada

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

We have had this unit for about 4 months now. Easy to clean, no more burning of boiled over items onto the cooktop and having to work like crazy to get it clean. Negative side is that it is quite noisy. You can hear buzzing as it cycles on and off. Does not stay at a constant temp as it cycles. Water boils, stops, starts, stops...

      So pretty

      By JoJo Vandal

      from Mead WA

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

We just built a home and kitchenaid appliances were recommended to us. The transition to induction has been fairly smooth. We had a few original pans that worked on the stovetop - but not well. Just got a new set designed for induction.
