I love the fact that this stove has five burners, but I am still not able to wrap my brain around the fact that there is no burner small enough to use a small saucepan! Since the burners will not stay on if the pan is not the right size...I consider this a real "con" in it's design!

Unless I am missing something in the manual, I see no way around this issue and what would have otherwise been a stellar review, gets less that five stars for this reason alone!

We are enjoying our induction cooktop, but at times there is a noise when heating that is odd. And our small pots will not work since they do not cover enough surface area of the burner to activate it, which is frustrating when you buy a large set of pots only to discover you are unable to utilize one of the frequently used sizes.

Oh wow... we love it. We show it off and people are amazed. Boiling water is crazy fast. Less than 2 minutes and sooooo easy to clean. i love cooking pancakes on my griddle when Bridged between the 2 small eyes

Great upgrade to kitchen

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

This was my first experience using induction cooking. Every bit as good as gas. Brings food to rapid boil immediately and down to a simmer just as quickly. Love the fast cool down of surface. Cleaning is a breeze.

Small pots won't work

By

from Longview, TX

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

I've been cooking on this cooktop for about 2 years now. I picked up a fairly inexpensive set of pans when I got it and never had a problem. I recently decided to upgrade my pans to non-stick.
I bought the Cuisinart set that came with a 8" skillet and a 1 qt. pot neither of which worked. After going back and forth with Cuisinart and getting nowhere, I bought a set of All-Clad. This set came with a 2 qt. pot that won't work with the cooktop.
I have since found several reviews stating the same problem with this cooktop. Sure would be nice if the Kitchen-Aide team could come up with a solution.
Yes, I would recommend this cooktop to a friend, but with reservations.

Superficial quality

By

from Vancouver, Wa

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

Superficial quality. Appears to be of good quality but, in fact, internal circuit board quality is very poor with a competely inadequate warranty. Kitchen Aid walked away from the problem stating (paraphrased) cannot be a problem as we have not initiated a recall.

Concerned

By

from Jacksonville, Florida

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

I bought this a week ago. It's not been received, but in attempts to find an answer regarding the smaller pot size, I've found I may cancel the entire order. I've now been told that if the pan is not the size of the burner, the cooktop will be damaged. This is not in any manual or warranty document. I've been told that kitchenaid can't answer my technical questions but my dealer might. WHAT? Really? I was also told by a supervisor that she was the only person with whom I could speak. It was a 45 minute call with the agent and supervisor reading, and re-reading the manual, which I repeatedly told them I'd read. The final contact included data that was an incorrect version of the specifics in the manual. Also, the manual says there are two center 12" burners, on the five burner unit. Wrong. There is a 12" dual burner with a 9" burner within it. I should mention, I have All-Clad induction cookware, and an induction unit at home. I've used it for a year and love it. It is not a kitchenaid and a 5" pot works on the 9" burner. It's an inexpensive unit. I'm remodeling the kichen with or without this manufacturer.

Induction cooking is the way to go.

By

from Fountain Hills, AZ

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

I listened to other comments and bought a couple of 7" and larger pans. With that being said I have no problem with the burners heating the contents in my pots and pans. The clean ability with induction is fantastic. It heats fast and cools down fast. I really wanted gas initially but I'm 100% sold on induction.

Two and a half years old and I have an Expensive paperweight

By

from Severna Park,MD

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

Three of the five burners dead after 2.5 years and it is outside of the warranty. I got the "Well it's out of warranty" story from customer service. Yes it is out of warranty. Considering scrapping it an going to gas or replace it with something cheaper. I enjoyed the cook top while it lasted.

Love it!

By

from Valley Forge, PA

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Black Induction Cooktop:

It does everything an induction cooktop should do and does it well. Boils water in a snap, cools instantly, maintains its temperature when cooking. My only complaints are these: it beeps at you if you (1) leave a pot, utensil or other item on top of it after you turn off the heat; (2) if you lift your pot off the heating element, for example, to toss mushrooms during cooking; and (3) after you turn it off, I guess to remind you it's still hot. So it has a personality, which is something new for me. I am not used to appliances beeping at me except to tell me the timer I set is done. Other than that, it's a great product. Also very easy to clean the glass cooktop.
