We're a couple who does HUGE amounts of web research before we make a purchase, but what with this being a fairly new product, there wasn't much to be found. It came highly recommended by our dealer, though, so we went ahead and took the plunge. This is, by far, the best kitchen appliance I've ever purchased. Capacity is amazing - you can get VERY BIG stuff in this dishwasher. Cleaning is great - especially compared with our old unit, which left crud inside many bowls and glasses. But really, you couldn't ask for any better in the cleaning quality department. We do now use a rinse aid, which is pretty much essential with the stainless interior which, by the way, retains heat better and, yes, looks very cool. After a short while, some soap film has appeared near the bottom-front of the tub, but that's easily wiped away. The repositionable silverware basket is a real boon. It fits up against the inside of the door, buying back a substantial amount of space from the lower rack.As far as the noise level goes, we joke to each other that the sound of it is deafening, and cover our ears in mock distress. This is because, as advertised, it?s a VERY quiet dishwasher. You can pretty much only hear it when it?s either intaking water for the wash, or draining it at the end of a cycle. I?ve gone to start it only to realize that my spouse already has it running. One thing you should know: this unit is not fast. It takes at least a couple of hours to do a load of dishes. That?s a result of the energy-saving properties of the design. It does, however, have a one-hour wash mode, and for moderately soiled dishes, i.e., just glasses and plates, this works great.Overall, I can?t recommend this product highly enough. One thing I wish to share: We purchased our appliances (we built a new house, so needed everything) from a local business, and yes, probably paid about 10% more than at Sears or a big-box store, but we chose to keep the money in our community. And having our service people just a few miles away, and happy to answer questions, etc. has been very helpful. 10% for dealer nearby who cares if you buy from them again is a bargain, in my book. Buy this dishwasher!

First the good parts. The dishwasher looks nice in the kitchen, is very quiet, and washes the dishes very well. From those aspects we are very satisfied. The negative parts.1. The top rack seems to be designed for a certain set of dishes, but certainly not ours. Our old Maytag dishwasher held the bowls and glasses nicely. With the new Whirlpool there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to all the angles of the rack so we can't nest the dishes. The result is the top rack doesn't handle as many dishes as the old Maytag, since they are basically jumbled.2. No rinse cycle. Again, the old Maytag had a rinse cycle which was handy if we were only loading a few dishes to wash the next day. We get around this by setting the microwave timer to 4 minutes. When the timer beeps we hit the stop/drain button on the dishwasher.3. The slots in the silverware basket covers are too small for our silverware set, so we wind up jumbling them together.Bottom line, if were to purchase another dishwasher, we would not purchase this one.

Silverware Tray has to be Re-designed....
from Ladera Ranch
Comments about Whirlpool White Built-In Dishwasher:
I am happy. for the price I paid I feel the is equal if not better performing to cleaning dishes as any of your more expensive brands such as LG, Kitchen Aid etc. It is very quiet and I like the look. Here is what I would change. The concept of the silverware tray is nice but not functunional. The slots are to small for most styles, food gets trapped between door and caddy, silverware can interfere with soap dispenser opening properly. If you move the tray into the inside of the dishwasher you still have the same issue of the slots being too small and he to open them and cram it all in. Thankfully I kept my old silverware trays as extras from my old Whirlpool which I highly recommend if they havent redesigned. The other feature I really miss is the rinse only feature. I love the all stainless inside.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've been struggling with this machine for several months. The Sensor cycle takes forever as the water quietly sloshes around (3 hours 20 minutes). For economy and ecology, one wants to do a full load. No. Dirt left on. Sometimes the detergent door doesn't open properly. Silver basket too small and falls off the dish basket where it's supposed to hook. Gimmick of allowing silver basket to hook onto the door, instead, is useless. Hard to grasp and pull out dish basket with silver basket in the way and ready to fall off. There didn't seem to be a good machine at reasonable price on the market this year. This one is no prize.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
the dishwasher is so quiet and does an excellent job of cleaning dishes on the eco level.
Does not clean dishes or silverware well.
Does not clean dishes or silverware well. Loved my old Whirlpool dishwasher, but this one doesn't clean as well as my 20 year old one. The silverware holder comes apart when I take it out, and it takes forever to put it back together. I do like the size of it. It is very roomy.

3 1/2 yrs old... Leaking and ruined a 2 yr old floor.... Dishwasher should last longer than this. We sure paid enough thinking we were purchasing a better product.

We've had this dishwasher for 6 months, and are very pleased. For the first time in my life, I don't have to pre-rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. The exception is heavily goop-soiled silverware doesn't always get spotless (think: knife coated with peanut butter), and the upper rack water pipe blocks bowls from getting clean when lined up in the back (poor design). It's SUPER quiet as well, we can watch a movie in our open floor plan house with the dishwasher running and can't hear it at all.
Great Design, Beautiful Look, Many machine problems
from Jersey Shore, NJ
Love the look and loading capacity of this model, however, after 14 months and now the 5th service call (newest one is about leaks) we cannot recommend this machine.Thank goodness we opted for the extended service contract. If we could, we would ask for a lemon law replacement.(We may do so if these problems continue)
Quite and smooth operation

Very quite and with sufficient options such as time delay which works well.
Love my dishwasher!

What's not to Love? My dishes and glasses sparkle and it does an exceptional cleaning job on my pots and pans. Silverware comes out shining and dry. The stainless steel tub is luxurious to me after putting up with the white molded tub of my old dishwasher. A very impressive and high end looking appliance that fits in perfectly in my kitchen.
Disappointed in Dishwasher
from Orange County, CA
I am usually a fan of Whirlpool appliances, but I'm not happy with this product. The dishwasher is not even a year old and I've already had to have the rinse agent dispenser replaced. This dishwasher also does only a fair job of drying dishes. If you use the one-hour cycle (shorter than the normal cycle), the door of the dishwasher and the utensils in the bin on the door remain wet.
