Our "good" rating assumes you have checked that your silverware will fit in the holder (see comments below). The dishwasher seems solid and well constructed. Even with the energy saving features it cleans very well. The cycle time is somewhat longer than our previous washer, but this is not a problem for us. The unit is extremely quiet, which is nice. The dry feature works well, but we found we could skip it and let the dishes air dry with the door opened a small amount. An issue we are still coping with is the generic, equally spaced tines in the racks. There is little flexibility in the way to arrange dishes. The upper rack has room for one row of bowls in the center with glasses and mugs on the sides. The bottom rack can only hold one row of dinner dishes in the central area. There is no good place for large casserole dishes and pans. If you place them at the back, the dinner dishes are pushed forward making it impossible to load anything other than very small dishes in front of them. Some of the higher priced models have more flexible rack setups that would probably resolve this. The big disappointment is the silverware holder, which is nearly useless for us, as the slots are too narrow in two of the three rows to hold our very average sized silverware. If we hadn't saved the holder from our previous dishwasher (and been fortunate enough that it fit in the rack of this one), this purchase would have been a disaster. Be sure you check for this problem before purchasing this model.

Fantastic cleaning on pots, baked-on food, etc. I like the several options for washing cycles & choosing delay. However: Silverware feature has a clumsy handle which interferes with loading & removal of two central sections; all dividers have gaps large enough to trap silverware, again making removal difficult, yet dividers are not tall enough to keep all silverware upright. None of the prongs on either shelf are moveable (upright or lay-down) to allow for better loading of larger or odd-shape items. Door hinge/spring too tight, causing door to pull upward and thrust lower shelf (even when somewhat loaded) back into the washer. Soap dispenser cover does not click shut easily, often requiring two hands (one to hold the door flat and the other to manually latch the dispenser cover). Other than cleaning quality (which is excellent) this is not an easy dishwasher to love.

Comments about Whirlpool Stainless Built-In Dishwasher:
Have not gotten use to it yet, but it does not seem to dry like my old Kenmore made by Whirlpool. The brackets that secures the top of the counter are weak and I broke one when I had to take it back out and I had to prefab one myself.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Multiple Problems After 2.5 years!
By Not a fan of WP
from Mason, OH
We had this dishwasher installed in our newly built home 2.5 years ago. It has cleaned the dishes well while it has worked. As far as the dishes not drying, the answer to that is use "Jet Dry" otherwise, yes they will still be wet. The two problems we encountered were the following: 1. The dispensing tray stopped dispensing the jet dry (leaving the dishes wet) - $200 fix (P & L) and 2. The pump sprung a leak under the dishwasher. That is causing us a lot more problems as it warped our kitchen floor and damaged the ceiling in our finished basement before we were aware it was happening. We are choosing not to repair and take our chances with this dishwasher any longer.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The machine we purchased is a very quiet one, which is nice--almost silent operation when it's cleaning dishes. However...(1) the silverware bay is inadequate, in our estimation. It is difficult to load if one follows the instructions that came with the machine; and there really isn't enough room in the silverware bay for our family's needs. Also, (2) the machine's capacity is smaller than the machine it replaced, making it necessary for us to either do dishes more frequently or else to use paper, disposable plates and plastic-ware, when we entertain family or company. We think that we probably shouldn't have purchased this particular machine, in hindsight.

"Cleans dishes very good"

I have had my dishwasher about a month and it does a fantastic job! It gets the dishes clean and leaves no water spots and has even cleaned tea stains out of tea cups.I am not too fond of the silverware tray although one of the selling features is that it is still in the door. The silverware tray has a way to stack the silverware in and I don't use it because it is slow to load.I have been a Whirlpool customer for years and will continue to be so as long as the appliances remain to be the best.

This dishwasher never dries our dishes and leaves water stains.

I've had this dishwasher for 2 months now and couldn't be happier with it. My dishes come out sparkling, it's very easy to operate and it's extremely quiet.I wouldn't change a thing about it!

Good, Not Great

This dishwasher does a good job of getting dishes clean and doing so efficiently. However, it has more drawbacks than redeeming features. It's not as easy to load as we thought it would be, due in large part to design of the racks. The silverware container on the door wasn't very well conceived, as we can't put anything too long (like a butter knife) in front of the soap dispenser, or the dispenser door won't open. In addition, water stays at the bottom of the silverware container, so that we have to wipe the silverware dry, when it's already supposed to be dry. Finally, the overall drying action is very poor, as water pools into the bottom of our coffee cups, and any other cup with a curved base, so that we have to dry them all before taking them out.We did not have any of these problems with our prior dishwasher, which was made by a competitor. But we were trying to save a little money and so we purchased this one instead of the same machine we had, which was still available. I definitely feel like we got what we paid for, and will just spend the extra money next time to get a better machine.
