Unfortunately the height of the opening where the dishwasher is installed in our house is short so we were limited to only a couple of dishwashers. We decided to go with the Whirlpool Gold Stainless Steel Built-In Dishwasher. It took us a few tries before we were able to find the right combination of wash and dry cycle along with dishwasher detergent. The energy efficient setting (Eco) for drying does not do a good job at all. The dishes and tub do not dry completely as a result. We used the High setting and it dries thoroughly. We rinse the majority of food off before we put it in the dishwasher. Therefore we only need to use the Eco setting for washing the dishes. The dishwasher looks great, runs quite and cleans great if you don't try to jam all your silverware into that one little anywhere basket.

There are just two of us so we wash dishes every other day. It is very quiet. Doesn't clean as well as the 14 year old Whirlpool we replaced (and we rinse dishes well before putting in the dishwasher, but I left just a little residue to test its cleaning). The silverware basket gets attached to the door. If you leave it attached, it is hard to put the silverware in the left side because the soap dispenser is in the way. After the cycle, the dishes were wet. Checked the troubleshooting guide; said it needs rinse agent. I had put rinse agent in the day before, but after one wash and half a bottle of rinse agent the dispenser was empty. Now I put just enough rinse agent to fill the dispenser opening (but you don't see it in space where you should see how much is left). That seems to work if you get the dishes out shortly after machine shuts off. If you wait overnight to open the door, there is so much condensation that the dishes are wet and you can feel the moisture. After leaving the door open for several hours, there is still condensation. Never had any of these issues with the old builder's model. Haven't complained to the store, because the problem when purchasing was finding a dishwasher that would fit in a 34.5" height opening.

Comments about Whirlpool Gold Series White Built-In Dishwasher:
The motor died on our dishwasher right after one year was up. For the one year it worked, it was amazing. However, when I purchase an expensive dishwasher with a stainless tub, I expect to get 5 years out of it, not one. I can purchase a $200 dishwasher and get one year out of it. I will never purchase another whirlpool.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

the electronic control board went out on this appliance in 15 months. The repair was $400. When purchasing a high end dishwasher I would expect it to last longer than a year and 3 months.

our family likes the appliances of whirlpool brand very much; unfortunately, this dishwasher didn't have good pump , right now, is waiting for the replacement from warranty. but at least customer service very helpful, handling very efficiently to book the appointment for the technician to fix it

This dishwasher is so quiet that I have opened it multiple times while it was running. Cleans the dishes well. Works great as long as you use the rinse additive.

I like the looks of the stainless steel interior. The plastic utensil rack and dish racks in the dishwasher are very flimsy/cheap. My older model had a "glass express" option which I used a lot. We asked about this option when purchasing our new dishwasher, but were told it is no longer available. If I recommended this product, I would let them know about the flimsy, plastic racks.
I am please with this product. It cleans well and is extremely quiet.

Bought a month ago. I do not like the fact I have to open the door to see if wash cycle is done. I have already had to call for repair. The racks are all very cheap plastic. End caps on rails broken and will probably keep breaking because they are not strong enough for what they do. Also the dishwasher is not attached on the left side of the cabinet and moves in and out.
Not as good as my old one!

The new dishwashers take forever to finish a cycle. I know thats because of EPA rules so it doesn't matter which brand you buy. The silverware basket is awkward to use, you have to use the slots of it dumps the sillverware. You have to put stuff in the slots or it doesn't get clean. My old Whirlpool had a much better basket. My silverware has a wide base so the knives and serving spoons have to go in the open part. They slide together and I end up hand washing them because they are stll dirty. But the glasses and plates look good.
