To start, we were replacing a GE Nautilus, which was a very low end contractors grade dishwasher. While shopping around, we considered a wide variety of makes, models and prices. We found this dishwasher at hhgregg and compared it to a somewhat similar GE Adora at Home Depot (that we very nearly bought). In the end, we chose the Whirlpool and we are glad that we did.I installed the unit myself, someone with less than average diy skills. I had to install a new water tap to match the difference in size of the existing water line vs the new line, which wasn't a problem. Total installation time was about 90 minutes, and that was taking my time. My only beef with the installation was that Whirlpool does not include the 90 elbow which is required for installation. In the end, we chose this product based on the door located silverware basket, design, and features. In use, the dishwasher is extremely quiet, has a very large capacity, and cleans extremely well. Cycle times are somewhat on the long side, but its ok knowing that the dishes will be clean or sanitized. We use the sensor cycle, which automatically adjusts the cleaning cycle based on how clean or dirty the dishes are.All in all a great product and value.

There are just two of us so we wash dishes every other day. It is very quiet. Doesn't clean as well as the 14 year old Whirlpool we replaced (and we rinse dishes well before putting in the dishwasher, but I left just a little residue to test its cleaning). The silverware basket gets attached to the door. If you leave it attached, it is hard to put the silverware in the left side because the soap dispenser is in the way. After the cycle, the dishes were wet. Checked the troubleshooting guide; said it needs rinse agent. I had put rinse agent in the day before, but after one wash and half a bottle of rinse agent the dispenser was empty. Now I put just enough rinse agent to fill the dispenser opening (but you don't see it in space where you should see how much is left). That seems to work if you get the dishes out shortly after machine shuts off. If you wait overnight to open the door, there is so much condensation that the dishes are wet and you can feel the moisture. After leaving the door open for several hours, there is still condensation. Never had any of these issues with the old builder's model. Haven't complained to the store, because the problem when purchasing was finding a dishwasher that would fit in a 34.5" height opening.

Comments about Whirlpool Gold Series White Built-In Dishwasher:
Bought it because it was the "Gold Series ". After using it for a year dishes will not come dry and there is an terrible smell coming from. We have tried everything to clean interior and drain lines but nothing has worked. I would not buy another Whirlpool dishwasher.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have never written a review like this. This a poor quality product. From day one their was issues with this dishwasher. It never properly cleaned the food off of the plates. The top rack is made of cheap plastic and broke in several places. (Tie wraps are holding it together). I have had multiple service techs out to fix this dishwasher. I have tried every recommendation made by either the service tech or manufacturer and still the dishwasher does not clean. Complete garbage done waste your money..........
our second Whirlpool appliance and they both work great.

The worst dishwasher ever!
I have had this dishwasher for 4 years and have hated from the beginning. Not only does it not clean the silverware properly (and yes I rinse everything) the silverware falls sideways in the caddy. I have had two leaks, the first a year ago ruined my floors and they needed replacing too. Now a year later and it is leaking I the same spot. Time to purchase another dishwasher. It won't be a Whirpool!
Dishes R sparkling CLEAN! Whisper quiet! Excellent washer!!!

'Such a BIG help for me!!
Ok but not 100% happy
from The Villages, Fl
This came with the home I purchased in The Villages, FL. It's ok. To me, doesn't do any better than the one I had at my old home that was installed 3-4 years ago. Did the job but not so great with non-presoaked bake ware. As long as I used Jet Dry glasses come out clean. Now the Whirlpool Gold frig. is worst than their dishwasher. I have had problems with that since day one and continuing as of the day.
Has not met our expectations!

We bought our Whirlpool dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago. About a month ago it suddenly stopped working. After the repairman made 3 trips over 4 weeks and $332 it's finally working. The repairman even asked if we wanted him to fix it or just buy a new one!!?? Sadly disappointed that a reputable appliance manufacturer can't build a dishwasher that lasts more than a couple of years. Our last dishwasher was a Maytag that lasted 15 years with never a repair, we only replaced it because it was white and we were replacing all of the other appliances in stainless steel. If this is how long Whirlpool products are expected to last, I'll never buy another one.

I purchased this in early spring 2014. This weekend my husband noticed a leak in the basement. We thought there was a leak in a pipe since we live in an older home. Nope. The dishwasher leaked and has soaked my subfloor beyond repair. Now I have to rip up the floor, get a repairman to find the leak...headache. Also, the silverware basket doesn't fit my silverware nor does my silverware come out clean.

From day one this dishwasher did not fry my dishes. The control panel design is awful. Half the buttons stopped workign after only 1 year. the waster pumped broke at two years, the repair person said this is the worst series and he has had to fix many of them. stay away from this product.

I bought it 14 months ago but it's been in storage 6 months. Reinstalled it in the same location 3 months ago. Two nights ago it sounds like the transmission has rocks in it. Checked everyplace inside I could fine. Trouble shooting guide was next to useless. Very quite and cleaned well when it worked. Silverware tray in the door - bad idea. Doesn't clean well. I'm glad I got it as a close-out price + GI discount. 12 mo warranty, 14 month life, 6 month working life. Add that up how you like. Me? JUNK.Features? Top buttons were easier than previous washer. Add a display for time remaining would be nice. The "Done" light should go out when you first open the door after it really finishes. Having it stay ON all the time makes it pretty useless.
