Comments about Asus ZENBOOK UX31 Series Silver Ultrabook Computer:
A good think to use while you are around if you have a desktop for serious work. It still works for most daily work. But not powerful enough for intensive simulation. It has only 802.11b/g/n which is used a lot and slow in most area. Prefer to have 802.11a and gigabit ethernet also integrated in the slim body. Keyboard is usable, not as bad as most reviews said.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Overall Good Ultrabook - 8 of 10
from Portland, OR
Overall this is a great computer if you are looking for a PC alternative to the Macbook Air. It sacrifices some processor speed and RAM for its ultra-portability, however is not noticeable unless you have multiple demanding programs open simultaneously. As far as portability and weight, there isn't a better computer. I have problems every so often with the keyboard, especially the outside buttons (shift, fn, ctrl, etc). They seem to be very particular about needing to be struck directly in the middle of the key, otherwise the computer doesn't pick up the keystroke. Asus attempted to incorporate far too many multi-touch commands in the touchpad. In my opinion, the touchpad is the biggest flaw of this computer. It took about 2 weeks to get used the touchpad, but even then, it is still an awful touchpad compared to other laptops I've used.Overall, the looks, the price and the design are all very good. I would recommend this ultrabook until something better comes out.
This is Great Laptop & At Great Price
from arlington, va
I wanted a lightweight laptop that I could use for work and for personal web browsing, word processing, excel, watching movies, etc. I did not want a bulky laptop--I really wanted portability whether thru the airport or just the house. This product is perfect for its price. SSD (not huge but good for the price), intel 5, and so on. I don't find the keyboard to be that difficult and I plug in a wireless usb mouse and don't use the touchpad. Comes with usb ethernet adapter and vga. ALSO has a great sleeve. I spent a few months looking for a powerful lightweight laptop AND this fits the bill. Other products that were similar in weight were twice the price. And ASUS has a great warranty. Am extremely pleased and will spend several hours a day at least using this laptop.

Good screen resolution but poor touchpad
By Photos on the go
About Me Programmer, Tech Savvy
I bought mainly because of the higher screen resolution than the Samsung Series 9 which has a low resolution (1368 x 768 or so) screen. The trade off, however, is that the mouse / trackpad is terrible compared to the series 9 and the keyboard is not as good and is not backlit.Other differences are that Asus provides the VGA adaptor in the box, which Samsung charges extra for and that Asus provides full-size SD card slot vs. Samsung's micro SD card slot. Conclusion: if you want a better overall ultrabook and do not mind the low resolution, buy the Samsung Series 9. If you want to manage photgraphy on the go like me and have a better web browsing experience with a larger screen where typing is not a major activity, buy the Asus UX31E/Zenbook.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
