When I first got this food processor in Feb, 2013 (it replaced a KitchenAid 12 cup one that just died one day), the top was incredibly difficult to close. The multiple gaskets grab on to the sides of the bowl and won't move. I thought it would close more easily over time. I was wrong. It's just as difficult 8 months later. I suspect it's to help avoid leakage of liquids, but it's just too darn tight! As a result, I don't use the processor nearly as often as I used my old one.

Additionally, you've made the cover with too many pieces, and if the parts aren't properly assembled, the processor doesn't work. UGH!! The old version was much better. (I sure do miss mine.) A LOT of parts is bad enough, but grooved ones that accumulate everything you process?? Did a real cook (who washes his/her own appliances? give you any feedback on this model? I can't recommend this to anyone.

Once you get it assembled, it works fine, but I almost hope it'll die so I can get a new one -- probably a Cuisinart (although NOT my first choice for a kitchen appliance) :( I'm sorry, but you blew it with this model.

Not at all what I expected

By

from Park Ridge ,IL

Comments about Kitchenaid 13-Cup Silver Food Processor:

I started with the Professional line series.
After 3 years the second of two machines also broke. I went to this 13 cup processor after calling customer services AGAIN.
Now a few years have gone by and the locking handle has come off in my hand. Making the 3rd processor in 7 years only used for holiday baking.

I wanted to love this.

By

from Longmont, CO

Comments about Kitchenaid 13-Cup Silver Food Processor:

I wanted to love this, but hate it. The last 2 times I tried to use it I could NOT get it to work. There are plenty of other reviews with this same frustration - all myriad parts are lined up and it WILL NOT TURN ON. Am returning it ASAP.

Not up to Kitchen Aid Standards

By

from Mississauga, ON

Verified Buyer

Comments about Kitchenaid 13-Cup Silver Food Processor:

This food processor is awful for grating. It leaves 1/4 of the food in large chunks, and will not be able to shred. This is a very disappointing issue, as most of what I would use a food processor for is shredding or grating!

Heavy-duty processor

By

from Boulder City

Verified Buyer

Comments about Kitchenaid 13-Cup Silver Food Processor:

I've used this unit 10 times now and like the product. I previously had a Cuisinart Original for 10+ years and decided to try a Kitchenaid. What could be better with this product: it is hard to clean all of the nooks and crannies, and impossible to dry. I like that is has a seal but concerned that it will dry out quickly or worse, food will get caught in it an I will have to remove the seal every time I clean. The Cuisinart was easier to clean and use, the food/blade pureed the food better than the Kitchenaid. I like that this comes with a case to hold all of the attachments. I'm trying to get used to how the attachments work, etc. I have a hard time getting the bowl off the workbase with the blade still inside the bowl (I should be able to pull the bowl off the work base without having to remove the blade first--I don't like this). Also, when I received the product it had scuff marks on the I use a processor 1-2 times a day. Overall it is a good product.

Perfection

By

from Torrance, CA

Verified Buyer

Comments about Kitchenaid 13-Cup Silver Food Processor:

I upgraded to this from my mini "other brand name" food processor. This Kitchen Aid 13 cup food processor is perfection. It is suprisingly quiet considering the power of the motor, and it blends everything so well! I've used it to make hummus, pesto, dips, and sweet potato chips so far and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

KitchenAid is the only brand for me!

By

Comments about Kitchenaid 13-Cup Silver Food Processor:

What a wonderful appliance! This food processor makes my work in the kitchen so much easier, it works even better than I imagined. Over the past few years I have replaced all of my appliances with the KitchenAid brand, including my dishwasher. A friend came to visit recently, looked around my kitchen and said, "it looks like a commercial for KitchenAid in here! I just love it!". Thank you for making products that I can depend on year after year!

Amazing Kitchen Power Tool!

By

from The Woodlands, TX

Comments about Kitchenaid 13-Cup Silver Food Processor:

Ok, I'll start off by admitting that this is my first food processor ever. Up until recently I've just chopped and sliced old school. I'll also admit that I was given an amazingly awesome Shun knife set too, so chopping and slicing with those miniature Samurai swords is a lot of fun! This food processor was given to me as an early Christmas present and when I opened it I was impressed but skeptical. All I could think was "Why do I need or want one of these?" Also, I knew the price that my mother in law paid for it seeing these on my frequent walks through the appliance section at the stores and I knew that I was going to owe her big. As I unpackaged this form the box I loved all the different accessories that came with it. Ol Mom in law knew how to impress me. She got it all! Choppers, slicers and other thingies that I still don't know the functions of. This is a nice green that I couldn't help but notice was the exact same color of the mixer the wife has been asking for forever now. Subtle hints I guess.
Looking through the instruction booklet I quickly became bored. Instructions? Pfft! "Directions are for rich people!" I tossed the manual and started to unpackage all the new kitchen tool accessories from their wrappings. Immediately I learned that the spinning blade thing for the chopper is not only sharp, but it's ridiculously and impossibly sharp!! WARNING: Metal pieces are Crazy Sharp! The slice across my thumb from barley nicking the blade is proof.
After slicing my thumb I gave the instructions another look. To no real surprise I still had trouble following the steps. This is mostly because I had all these shiny new thingies to play with! Once again I set the instructions aside and decide on a you-tube search. Eureka! I found video after video on how to use all the cool attachments. In o time at all I had the chopper set up going and was tossing whole potatoes into it, watching in amazement at the perfect cubed potatoes gathering in the lower bowl. The kids even tossed a few in. As I laughed like a mad scientist chopping up potatoes, the wife reminded me that I had gone through half a sack and what I planned to do with all these cubed taters. OOPS!
Another warning to folks out there, the metal grid at the bottom of the chopper is freaking sharp too! There's a plastic tool that comes with it that you snap in and use to smash the thinly cut ends through. Well, I happened to take the top off and just reach over to grab a chunk of potato and my thumb barley bumped the top of the grip. You know it's a bad cut when you can't even feel the cut! My thumb wouldn't stop bleeding either. I had it wrapped in a towel as I tried to clean my new kitchen tool and blood kept smearing. So I had to stop and do proper first aid. WARNING: Metal grid is also freakishly sharp!
As of now I've really only used the chopping set up. I'll be doing much more with it over the next week. If I decide that somehow I'm dissatisfied I'll adjust my review, but as of right now I love this thing and would recommend it to everybody. I cook all the time and cater BBQ events as well, this really is a valuable kitchen power tool for my set up.
