I love the sleek, clean lines of this Whirlpool dishwasher. The controls are easy to read and this Whirlpool holds more dishes than the KitchenAid it replaced. The first time we ran it through a cycle we had to put our ear next to the door - that is just how quite it runs. I do use a recommended rinse aid, consequently have not encountered spotting. I have used powder as well as the little cleaner packets, both with excellent results. Dishes always come out clean, but I always rinse them prior to putting the dishes into the dishwasher even though it has a scrubber cycle. Old habits are hard to die - i just can't put dishes with hardened food on them in the dishwasher to sit until it's time to run a cycle. I conducted hours of research and visited several stores to visibly inspect dishwashers which would meet our high standards of expectation - this one more than fills the bill. I highly recommend this dishwasher.

I did a lot of research before buying this dishwasher. It had most of the features I wanted, was not too expensive, had good reviews, and best of all, matched my black-appliance kitchen. Unfortunately, none of the descriptions or pictures of the unit included the fact that it has a large "Made in America" sticker on the front, as large as the Whirlpool logo and crookedly slapped on, THAT IS NOT REMOVABLE. This sticker is multicolored and destroys the look of the unit. I assumed the sticker would be easily peeled off and so let the unit be installed. I was wrong - it cannot be removed without damaging the surface of the door. This on a "designer" dishwasher?? I'm all in favor of products made in America, and I understand Whirlpool wanting to highlight that fact, but why am I forced to have this ugly sticker part of my kitchen decor?? I started out loving it, now I hate the way it looks.

Comments about Whirlpool Black Built-In Dishwasher:
My husband bought this one, and I love it. Great features, quiet, plenty of wash options. So much better than washing them by hand!

My husband bought this to match our range and I have to say it's a very nice dishwasher sleek and stylish efficient love the option buttons only thing I wish was that the wine glass holder spots are spaced a little bigger for some of the bigger wine glasses but other than that it works great

I purchased the Ice collection (complete collection; dishwasher, double wall ovens, refrigerator) for my kitchen. We love the look, the sleek design, and the abilities of all of the appliances. However, the refrigerator had the cooling unit die, just after the warranty had lapsed... I called Whirlpool and they fixed it even though out of warranty by a week, cool right, excellent customer service I thought.... Then the second cooling unit went three months later. We replaced the fridge, as fixing was going to be over a 1000 bucks. The dishwasher does an amazing job cleaning.. But the utensils rack stinks at best. It takes up valuable space when inside the lower rack, so when you hang it on the hooks on the outer part of the rack it barley hangs on the hooks, easily falling off. Then there is ALL the plastic, I have replaced almost ever part inside the rack mechanism for the top rack twice now, and then the silly travel wheels for the bottom rack keep popping off not staying secured. This is fun when the wheels come off the bottom rack when you are sliding the rack in or out for use, as the whole rack will derail and spill the contents. In about 2 years of ownership I have spent nearly 500 bucks in replacement parts. I am the only one in the household who uses the dishwasher, so I know how it is treated, and I treat it with care and ease as I know how easily parts break on it...DO NOT BUY this unless you work for a parts distributor for Whirlpool.

We have had this dishwasher for almost 2 years now and it is extremely disappointing. If you don't use it on a daily basis, it smells bad. It does a terrible job cleaning the dishes (and these are dishes that have been allowed to soak and/or washed off prior to being loaded). Our 15 year old dishwasher did a much better job. If I had wanted a cheap dishwasher, I would have saved $200 bucks and bought a cheaper dishwasher instead of shelling out almost $600 for this piece of junk.

Very quiet and cleans well. It had some issues and would not heat unless i ran the hot water prior to operating. If you have soft water, you cannot use the soap tabs that also have water conditioner in them as that will also mess up your machine. The top shelf has poor plastic components and the rollers and some of the shelve adjusters broke. I bought extended warrantee and recommend everyone get the longest warrantee possible. These new machines look great but are not made to last over 5 years. This is also what the technicians say when they come out, (3 techs so far all say same things) Why on earth cant they be making these things to last 15-20 years, they are environmental disasters not being made to last for even decades.

Had this DW for a year and a half now. We have always bought WP products but seems this DW's upper rack is junk. Within the last couple days the upper rack has BROKE Twice! The dark gray support in which the white rollers rest upon have snapped causing the rack to fall. Not very well designed!!!

This is a very nice dishwasher. It's beautiful, quiet and our dishes are clean.

Doesn't clean very well unless you use cascade platinum. Three of the top rollers busted after less than two years. Ended up costing me $140 just for three plastic pieces. Also not as quiet as advertised.

Purchased the Whirlpool dish washer as a replacement for an older unit and we are very happy to have upgraded to a much newer model and the improved technology of this particular model. The features and use settings are very easy to set and the unit runs quietly and does an excellent job in cleaning dishes, pots and pans and other dishwasher items. So far we are extremely pleased with our purchase. Joe and Connie Link

I've had this dishwasher for a little over a year. I had to relocate the utensil rack because they weren't getting clean crammed against the door. Upper rack breaks glasses by the dozen. It just doesn't clean the dishes even when you put it on "sensor and power scour". Waste of money. DO NOT buy this dishwasher.
