A quiet dishwasher

Comments about GE 24" Black Built-In Dishwasher:
This dishwasher is so quiet; you can put it in your bedroom. My six year old GE refrigerator makes more noise than this dishwasher. I bought this dishwasher for the light wash / china cycle. Instead of having all the cycles preprogramed, I wish I could decide on how long I want the wash cycle to be. The wash cycle was about 21 minutes. I think that might be too long for china. I know the cycle will be varied. There are 2 rinses before the wash and 3 rinses afterwards. The sanitize cycle washed my dishes for 20 minutes. I guess my dishes had the same amount of dirt on them. The last sanitizing rinse was 20 minutes the first time and 30 minutes the second time. I know the temperature of the entering water must have been cooler the second time. There were 2 rinses or 3 rinses before the wash cycle and 3 rinses afterwards. Auto and Normal cycles are for the people that like to thoroughly rinse their dishes before they put them in the dishwasher. Auto cycle fills the dishwasher and 3 minutes later it pumps out the water for 10 seconds and fills again and rinses for another 3 minutes. Then it does a full drain. It does the same thing for the wash and the rinse afterwards. I can't understand these partial drains. The Normal cycle does not rinse before the wash cycle. It starts with the wash and does a 10 second pump out and fills again. The rinse is the same as the auto cycle. I never run my dishwasher half empty. It is always full when I run it. When does the cost electricity out weight the cost of water?

Acceptable dishwasher with unexpected shortcomings
from Suffern NY
I was very excited to get this new dishwasher and bought it based on the controls being on top (I was always accidentally hitting controls on my old washer) and on its ability to dole out the dishwashing liquid. I am still pleased with those features. I was also pleasantly surprised at how quite the dishwasher is. I am constantly frustrated by the racks themselves and actually struggle with certain pieces. My prior dishwasher was so much better designed with respect to the rack layouts and tines with respect to bowls. This is an ongoing frustration. I don't think the washer actually washes my dishes as well as the old model and I find that it is necessary to prescrub and rinse the dishes before loading. Finally I am not happy about the way that top rack doesn't fully extend and the reason I am here on the site today is to see if perhaps that is actually a problem that can be fixed under warranty. I can live with this dishwasher but I wouldn't recommend it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
