My last range was a radiant glass cooktop with standard oven. I had to rotate food in the oven to cook good. When I bought it I did not do too much baking. Once I started doing a lot of baking I really wanted a convection oven so I would not have to rotate foods to cook evenly. I do 9 lbs of bread a week for my family. I cook about 6 dozen cookies in a full batch. This oven easily handles my baking needs. I cooked baguettes on three different levels and when I checked with an instant read thermometer, all three levels of bread had reached internal temps within 1 degree of each other. DO keep your face away from the oven when you open it or you will be blasted with steam. This oven seals up beautifully. Yesterday I tried the SLOW COOK feature. I made chicken breasts covered with thin slices of lemon on top, smothered in onions with red and green bell peppers quartered, and a cup of white wine. Used a Corningwear ceramic 9x9 with glass lid. Set for 5 hours when I was home for lunch so it would be ready at the same time as my tortilla dough in my programmable bread machine. Chicken and veggies came out amazing. Moist tender chicken, easily peeled the bell peppers. Filled tortillas with the mix, made a nice bachamel with white wine and Mexican cheese, rolled them up then baked them off. Killer. The meat probe is a very cool feature. So far I have cooked a pork roast to perfection, and used it twice for turkey meatloaf for perfect internal temp of 165 degrees. The warming drawer is really neat. When I press Cuban sandwiches I usually serve them as they are finished, 2 at a time. With 8 people this makes for a long process. I cooked ahead finishing 15 minutes before 7 guests arrived and put the Cuban's in the warming drawer on HI. Served all guests at the same time and there was no loss of food quality from keeping them in the drawer for as long as 45 minutes. I use the warming drawer to keep plates of dinner warm for my daughter who gets home about an hour after we all have eaten. She loves it. This drawer will be stellar around holidays when I regularly cook for as many as 15 guests- using my baking room, my kitchen, and my outdoor kitchen all at the same time! Scratch cooking 12 or so different dishes for a meal will keep you hopping in the kitchen, and put maximum demands on all your appliances. The induction cook top is nothing short of amazing. I bought two 110V portable induction cook tops before making what I considered to be a major investment in this GE Profile. This test convinced me induction was the direction to go. It also gave me a chance to test different cook wear before getting the oven. I will surely use these test cookers outside by the BBQ in the summer when we are out swimming. I replaced my old set of worn out non stick pans with a nice 13 piece set at a very good price from Costco. They tested out as good as a set twice as expensive. The induction cook top on the Profile is 3800 watts- twice the power of my test portables. Talk about FAST! Pasta water boils so quickly that when I make two batches in the largest Le Cruset dutch oven, I can toss the water from the first batch and be cooking the second batch within 5 minutes. GREAT for large batches of fresh milled duram pasta that I make and extrude into various shapes. The low settings allow for perfect control of temp making eggs, sauces, caramel, melted chocolate, etc. no-brainer tasks that used to be moments of anxiety. I don't consume anything from a bottle or a can, so cooking fresh is done three times a day on this stove. I use my heavy and large cast iron skillets every day and have not damaged the cooktop- THE SECRET is putting a large paper towel under the pan while I am cooking. Sometimes they brown a bit, but the won't burn. NICE. The large "burner" accommodates my 15" cast iron skillet beautifully. Chicken marsala for 10 people is a simple task using this setup. You have to get a LOT of veggies cut ahead because this stove can cook them down as fast as a gas cook top. Not like my old radiant top! After sauteeing my aromatics and before adding chopped tomatoes I turn down from 7.5 to 3 and the pan reacts quickly- keeping the tomatoes from spritzing everywhere when I add them into the mix. If the pan starts to get ahead of me there is no panic- just turn it down to 2 and it stops sizzling almost immediately, then turn it back up to 5-8 and within seconds we are sizzling again! SO COOL! I have only had this appliance for about 3 weeks, but so far every task I have put it through has been passed with flying colors. If you are a serious cook, expecting outstanding results- this is the appliance for you. Hopefully this will last as long as the matching GE Profile microwave/hood top that is sitting above it. I have had that appliance for around 8 years. Will consider replacing that with the newer GE high tech microwave oven I have been reading about.

We purchased this range in response to several favorable online reviews. We unfortunately never had a chance to experience the bad clicking and buzzing noises that occured when using the induction "burners." As stated by other reviewers here, the induction units tend to make loud noises, especially when being used at low to medium levels (i.e., 4 and below). The incessant clicking is very bothersome and can be heard in the other room. Furthermore, low to medium levels are very often necessary since the cooktop is so powerful. After our first unit had other build problems, we ended up getting it replaced with another unit that supposedly had some internal improvements although being otherwise the same. This new unit makes even more noise then our original one. We are returning this unit as well and will be getting an induction range from different manufacturer. We would have never purchased this range knowing the many everyday tasks for which we use it would be accompanied by repetitive and annoying sounds. I do not see how this range ever passed customer-usability tests during prototyping with such loud induction units. The other features of the range and the styling and visual appearance of the range are all great, but the loud noises are a deal-breaker. If you do any serious cooking at all, I would steer clear of this range. On a side note, the noises present in this range are not present on other induction cooktops. I have seen and used a number of induction cooktops and none have had the loud noises present on the GE Profile PHS925STSS induction range.

Comments about GE Profile Stainless Steel Electric Slide-In Induction Range:
The induction top is great. The controls get turned off if you accidentally touch them while cooking and don't notice it. The oven is terrible. Long time to heat up and have to add at least 25 degrees to baking temperature.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Do not buy any GE "convection ovens"
If you are remotely interested in the convection feature of the oven, do NOT buy any GE ranges that advertise convection. Their definition of convection is way off. In a real convection oven, the fan should be blowing the ENTIRE time so that hot air is always surrounding your food. But this one shuts off up to 10-15 minutes at a time. As long as the temperature probe in the back of the oven reads above the desired temperature--the back wall of the oven is always way hotter than the oven air. So if you have any recipes that provide convection oven temperatures and times, they will definitely not work. And basically the convection feature is useless - in fact it makes it much harder to predict cooking times and I've stopped using this feature altogether. The bake setting is much more stable. If you are going to spend the money to get an induction range, then you probably know what you're doing in the kitchen and trust me, you will be disappointed by the "convection" oven. If you are a serious cook, spend a little more and get a better performing (and value) oven elsewhere. As far as induction goes, it is pretty responsive to changing settings, but it's definitely underpowered if you're trying to boil water for pasta and have another pan ready with the sauce. If you use the two front burners on high, the 2 backburners can't really be used because there isn't enough power. Did I mention this thing is impossible to clean? If anything spills there are long crevices between the control pad and the cooktop and the counter top and the cooktop that love to soak up liquids and crumbs. Too small to get to to clean, large enough to pick up crumbs. Very annoying.
Love the induction cooktop!

Induction Cooktop: Our old range was a glass top, but it wasn't induction. We were always cleaning cooked-on stuff off the top. With the induction top, we've never had anything stick to the surface! VERY easy to clean. The buzzing can be a little strange, especially if you're not using the right size pan on the burner, but you get used to it. This thing will heat up a pan FAST! Love that - great control, too. Seems very precise on the temperature control. Immediate change in the temps when you adjust. Convection Oven: Our oven was about 20 degrees cooler that the settings, so I used the built-in ability to adjust the thermostat and it really made a huge difference. The ball bearing rack is really nice, but you have to be careful that you don't pull it out to quickly - whatever is on it might just keep coming out, the rack glides very smoothly. Love that there's three racks, but we've found that we use the third one on the lowest rails to hold an oven liner. One neat trick we've used to clean this oven is to pour water into the depression at the bottom of the oven and let it steam clean itself. Worked great. Overall Impression: I think we're very happy with this range overall. The induction is amazing, the cleanup is easy, and it looks great. Only drawback would be the price. This is much more expensive than an average electric range, getting closer to high-end gas ranges. The induction was worth it to us. As for quality, the only issue we've had is one touch control that has been on again off again - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But we're hoping GE will take care of it.

Stopped working after 7 months of use. Don't buy.

Nice stove but it broke after 7 months of use. Parts have been sent and the issue remains. Have been without a stove over 2 months now. Suggest you look at some other model or manufacturer
Oven not up to standards
I have had this range for 6 months. Very happy with the appearance and the inducion cook top. Very unhappy with the oven. It takes a long time to heat to desired temperature and then fluctuates by as much as 75 degrees.
Love induction! This was the only slide in induction stove I could find that was just a flat surface rather than being bordered or trimmed out. Love the look and the way it cooks. The oven works great though it takes a very long time to cool down. The bad: control panel died within the first 6 months, was replaced last week, hoping this one lasts longer because being without a stove for a month is NOT fun
Overlooked gem for cooks!
from Wyckoff, NJ
This range is an overlooked gem for cooks, who sometimes think they need a fancy gas range. The induction range has far more precise heat control than gas, heats up faster, and shuts off instantly just like gas. Plus it's easier to clean and doesn't add to kitchen heat load. We have a high-end gas range in our country home and it is much harder to control the flame, especially at the simmer end.
Love this range.

I bought this induction / convection range a little over 6 months ago, and I am still appreciate the craftsmanship and attention to detail that was designed and manufactured into this range. Induction cooktop controls of temperature is marvelous. and the convection oven really can product a yummy brownie and one heck of a nice pork roast with caramelized crust. Good food make great!!
Love this range!

I've only had this range for a short time, but I love it and the induction technology. The burners heat up quickly and adjust very quickly for positive cooking control. As other reviewers have noted, you will notice a quiet humming sound at the highest temperature settings, but this is not a defect in the cooktop. I've only noticed this sound when bringing a pot to boil, at which point the temp can be reduced for continued cooking, which causes the humming sound to stop (and stops quickly, since the temp adjusts quickly). The oven cavity is large and the hidden heating element makes clean ups quick and easy. In addition, the range is beautiful! Although pricey, this a a wonderful range and I highly, highly recommend it.
Wonderful Induction / Convection Range

Our home is in an area limited to electric being the only option for cooking. After research done online, the GE Profile Induction Slide-In Range is the prefect fit. Speed cooking, convection cooking, the modern glass top look is an improvement to our kitchen over the standard electric range we had. The features like the oven probe, warming drawer, control lock-out and sliding extension rack make the range even more functional. We love tea and the rapid boil burner feature is marvelous!
