We've had this dishwasher for several months now, and are really pleased with how clean it gets our dishes-- with little to no pre-washing. (Because, who has time to prewash!?) We especially like how big the top rack is-- I can fit my small plates on the top with no adjustment and all of our tall mugs/ travel mugs/ etc which wasn't even close to possible with our old dishwasher, and we also like how it sports it's own individual sprayer-- really optimizing the clean. The few quirks we're annoyed at are as follows: Apart from those expensive cleaning pods-- no matter the type of cleaning fluid I use (powder, or liquid) the cup doesn't clean out very well during the cycle, which can be pretty frustrating. Not sure if this is just an issue with my specific unit (I plan to call in an inquiry on our warranty about it) or if this is a problem with all of these models. Liquid is much worse at fully cleaning out of the cup than the powder. But powder isn't fool-proof either. It tends to gunk up and solidify in there if you close the cup like any normal human would. But, I did realize very soon after troubleshooting this issue that the cup opens nearly immediately after you start a cycle, and so I just stopped closing it all together, which seems to have nearly solved the problem. Still annoying, though. The second most annoying thing are the front hanging baskets for silverware which are problematic for several reasons. First: the individual slots in the blue covers for utensils-- while a pretty innovative and smart design don't stay on. I do agree that it ends up cleaning our silverware better because it keeps them in an upright position with their heads facing up/ out, but they're nearly impossible to keep on. The blue plastic tabbies that click into place on the gray main-part pop off all the time. I've given up and removed most of them and resorted to just popping my silverware into the cubbies, face up, like every other dishwasher design. Also, those baskets tend to fall off a lot, which is annoying. The tabs that slide into the wire racks aren't close to long enough to make them sturdy enough to pull on to slide your racks out and they often pop off really easily. Which, isn't a huge issue, but is definitely annoying after a while. And, I've noticed that if you don't have them in *just* the right position they'll hang a little low placing them right in the way of the circular under-rack sprayers and hit it with each rotation. Also, a lot of reviews will complain about the dry-cycle. And, I've got to be honest, that sounds like a 'first world' problem if I've ever heard one. I mean, to each his own, but I never run the dry cycle because I consider it a total waste of energy and time. Maybe I don't have high enough standards for how dry my dishes are upon completion of clean. But, that's just not an issue for me. The unit is also pretty quiet when running. That seems like a big concern to people, too. Especially if you live in a small house or apartment. I will say it does take a while to complete a cycle, esp. if you're running it on heavy-- but it gets my dishes so much cleaner that I can't really complain about it. Having said all that, I'm still really happy with this dishwasher. Maybe it's because our last dishwasher (a hotpoint) was so terrible that I would basically want to go all 'Office Space' copier-scene on it every time I loaded it or ran a cycle. But, then, the purchase process was so confusing with differing opinions and reviews that we were at a loss, and finally just made an educated guess and picked one in our price range that just happened to be a pretty good one!

I do love the dishwasher and the air dry feature that saves energy. It's super quiet and the cleans well. The only feature I don't like are the silverware baskets. They have these hinged slotted openings to hold your silverware for cleaning, but none of my silver ware except the small spoons and table knives will fit in them. So I removed that piece on some of them, but then the silverware is all bunched together and doesn't get clean. I would guess most people will have this same issue as my silverware isn't exceedingly large but does have a squared end. Also the silverware is hard to pull out of the slots because the fit is so tight. Kind of disappointing as duh, the job of this machine is to clean silverware and dishes! Seems like a small thing but it really isn't. So thumbs up for quiet and cleaning, thumbs down for an obvious design flaw.

Comments about GE 24" Stainless Steel Tall Tub Built-In Dishwasher:
I wish the slots in the bottom particularly were taller, closer, something different. I don't think I can load as many dishes/plates b/c the slots are so far apart and the spokes are not very tall. It almost seems like a flat basket on one half of it. I am always trying different ways to load, but I'm never quite satisfied. Also, the top silverware basket seems to leave the silverware less clean. The bottom basket does pretty well, but the top isn't as good.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love the Design / Doesn't clean bowls well
from Austin, TX, United States
This dishwasher came standard in our newly built home. Pros: *quiet *delayed start setting *interior nice and big *handles tall glasses and stemware on the top rack *looks sleek in our kitchen Cons: *bowls don't come clean (even with boost and ensuring faucet water was hot) * tried using the top shelf and the bottom shelf *Even with the "heated dry" on, interior of dishwasher is wet including flatware and most of glasses and cups * some of the flatware didn't come clean (even with boost and ensuring faucet water was hot) Perhaps I should have upgraded my appliances. Despite the looks; I'm really disappointed in this dishwasher. I wish it cleaned as well as our loud dishwasher in our old house.

We've had this dishwasher for about a month and it has been great. The controls are hidden at the top for a nice sleek appearance. It runs quiet and finished fairly quickly. Over all pleased so far.

I bought my dishwasher about 2 1/2 months ago. It was a necessity purchase.... my old dishwasher died. I love my GE it has settings for a light load, normal load or a heavy load. Plus it an energy saver. And at the end of the cycle it playes a nice little tune to let you know the dishes are done.
No features at all, not even just a rinse cycle.
This is dishwasher is horrible and it takes forever to wash.
Doesn't clean dishes
from Avondale, AZ, United States
we purchased this dishwasher with high hopes that it will do a good job, but so far no matter what kind of rinse aid or detergent we use the dishes come out dirty and covered in soap, the part were the detergent is placed in sometimes does not even open during the cycle or when it does the dishwasher doesn't rinse it out so the dishes can be washed with it. We have run self cleaning cycles and even thought that maybe it needed a car treatment. But alas, still getting dirty dishes.
looks good and good features.

What a mistake..

The first few times I ran the dishwasher, it ran the whole cycle, and when I opened it afterwards, the soap was all over the door. I had to run the dishwasher several times, even changed the soap. There must be a design flaw, the water does not hit the door. I have owned GE dishwashers for 39 years, this one was definitly a mistake. Ge should have a recall on this product, and re design the flaw.
OK for Now
I like that it's quite running. Racks seem to work well. I've had one service call where the door lock switch needed replacement. It's touchy and still continues to flash at times.
Brand new dishwasher with our home purchase, does an awful job cleaning the dishes. Soap hardly even is removed from the dispenser during wash.
