I have noticed that my clothes come out of the washer, with less wrinkles and not as tangled as my old washer...Also have found that the drying time is less also..meaning it extracts more water then my old one did... but what I DON'T like about it, is that it senses the load, which takes at least 10 mins. to do so, before it even starts to wash...very quiet operation, which I disagree with what another reviewer had said, they said it was the noisiest washer they ever had... it DOES make strange noises as it washes, but does the job, and does it well and very quiet..as long as you're not in a hurry for a load..as it takes almost an hour for large load with the extra rinse cylce on...Also I don;t like the fact that the lid is locked before the washer starts to fill with water, as I like to rinse out the detergent and fabric softener lids after using....If you could live with these problems.. I do recommend this washer... I Solved the problems.. I just put everything in, close the lid, start it and, walk upstairs , and come back in about an hour to throw it in the dryer...LOL

Although this machine appears to have an agitator in the middle to ensure clean clothes, do not be deceived. Unless you use the heavy setting (which results in random holes in your clothing), it doesn't remove even any surface foreign matter. I accidentally tipped over a bowl of cereal while I was getting ready to load the washer one time, and the few pieces I didn't find before I washed the clothes...were still sitting on them when the machine finished!!!Unless you HEAVILY pre-treat fresh stains, don't expect them to look anything but wetter after washing it.After just 3 months of light use the machine started shaking and flailing about when it tried to spin. After the lights went out and it stopped, I opened the lid - only to have it start up lid OPEN an hour later. This utterly voids the purpose of the safety "lid lock" feature. After I unplugged it and let it sit a day, I tried the spin/drain cycle but it wont spin at all.I never overload the washer - there's no point in even trying since then it doesn't even fully wet the clothes. By overload I mean even ever-so-lightly press down on the clothes to tuck in a pair of shorts or tee shirt.Overall, if you want wet dirty clothes, go with Maytag (which is the same manufacturer as an identical Whirlpool machine) - otherwise choose another machine.

This thing has been a curse since the day we installed it. It has always doubled back on cycles and now the thing has decided to completely go berserk: select hot water, you get cold water. Also it doesn't spin or agitate anymore, so now the latest development is that the laundry is all wet and has to be wrung out and is full of detergent. Bad!I would not buy another Maytag machine if someone gave it to me and dropped it off at the house.

I bought this washer about 3 years ago, it has been a great purchase, it has been washing clothes for all that time and not a problem. I wanted a washer that could handle a big load and this does, lots of settings and automatic sensing, my only con is it makes more clicking and water noises than I was used to, but overall it a great washer.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Ughh!! Horrible machine!

After owning it for 2 years, the machine malfunctions and starts going thru wash cycles no matter what I have selected. And it goes thru them twice!! I would venture to say that those of you who gave it high marks haven't owned it very long.
Worst washer I've ever had

Water does not or barely cover clothes. Does not clean. i have had many washers over my 67 years and by far this is the worst of all
Do not buy

I purchased this washer 2 years ago and made the huge mistake of not returning it 2 years ago. For starters it takes an hour to wash a regular size load, 1 1/2 hours to wash a larger load. There are times when it's "done" and all the laundry is still soaking wet and there goes another hour. Then there are the times when I wonder if the clothes even got washed due to the clothes being barely wet when done. It's a top load washer and it locks, if you want to add a sock that fell out during the loading process- you have to wait several minutes to have it unlock. Save your money and do not buy this washer. I've seriously lost my fate in Maytag, growing up it used to be to best there was when it came to washers.
Some good and very bad features
from Vancouver, WA
This washer does a great job cleaning our clothes and can handle large loads easily. The spin cycle also works very well. However, it takes a very, very long time to wash one load of clothes, about twice as long as other washers. The lid locks at the beginning of the cycle so once it starts you cannot simply open it up to throw in another item without starting the whole cycle from the very beginning: it drains, resenses the load and then restarts the process all over again. That is not energy or water efficient at all! The lid lock sensor is now broken so we cannot wash our clothes until we order the part to fix. Apparently this is a very common problem from the research I've done. This will cost aprox $75 and a 3 days wait. Once this washer finally dies, I will happily buy a new, different brand that is not Maytag and not so complicated.

If you're looking for a machine with a healthy life span, this is not for you. The Automatic Water level feature seems like a nice feature, but it's the first to go and the hardest to pinpoint. Several parts can make the tub overfill. Next, it's temperature control. That also has several fixes that needs a repairman and lots of money to pinpoint. But with a repair manual for more than one model, finding the right part to replace is impossible because the parts listed don't exist. My machine has 4 knobs; the "component location - Console & Valves" diagram only has 3. I can't find a service manual "For Service Technicians Only" for my machine like the one I have for another machine, which was included with mine. When I first got the machine, and followed instructions, it worked beautifully. Turns out it was just a honeymoon period.
