We had a 20 year old top load washer that filled completely up with water. So when we got the new Whirlpool High Efficiency top loader it took a few loads to see how the new technology works. The LED Basket Light feature (only on the Cabrio 8800 series) is so cool because you can leave it on during the cycle and watch everything.I must admit that at first I was skeptical, but after watching 5 or 6 loads I am now confident that the new machine does a very good job and gets all our clothes clean.Since the HE machines use less water the clothes have to remain in contact with the agitator plate in order for the machine to work right. If the basket filled completely with water items would float up and no agitation would take place. The machine senses how much water is needed and I find that the water level is always about _ of the way to the top of the items in the basket. The Whirlpool Cabrio is pretty quiet, and makes different noises. Low volume sounds like gurgling, splashing, and whirling. There is also very little vibration and the machine remained stable even when I washed our king sized comforter.I am using liquid HE detergent and it dissolves well and leaves the clothes smelling fresh. Have also tried Oxi and fabric softener. The Whites cycle with Oxi worked really well on a large load or whites. Also the faster spin cycle does a great job of wringing out all the water. At the end of the cycle items are fairly dry. After 10 loads we have never found any soap residue on clothes.Best suggestion I can make is read your operators manual because they have lots of tips in there. For example, if your clothes are getting twisted up try reducing the soil level to help eliminate that problem. The lower the soil level the less agitation takes place. The biggest complaint we have is wish we had gone with white instead of the chrome shadow color because although it looks sleek the chrome shows dust & finger prints really bad.

My review is based on previous products I have used and the price point of this dryer as well as the features and ease of use.Overall this is a very nice looking, "high capacity" load dryer but I have problems with the drying time. This product is really no better than the last two High Efficiency dryers that I have had. It seems to take a really long time to get towels, jeans and heavier items dry. You cannot base the load that you place in the dryer on the capacity of the washer unless you want to spend 75 minutes dry time minimum. Even on the sanitize setting, with max heat and dryness, you cannot put more than 3-4 towels or jeans for that matter, as part of your regular load in the dryer at a time without having your clothes remain somewhat damp. I have noticed that with all of these so-called high efficiency types that the towels over time develop a "musty" smell because they never truly dry all the way unless you just buy really cheap, thin towels to help you accomplish faster dry times.I frequently have a "check dryer vent" light that comes on and it is frustrating to say the least as there is no build up of lint in the pull out tray and we ran a lint "snake" down through the vent on both the inside and through the outside vent and there is nothing clogging it. I stopped at one of the big box stores and they suggested turning the unit "on" then clearing the lint tray to see if that takes care of the problem. So far that doesn't work.Although there are several drying options, I have found that I mostly am using the sanitize cycle just to be able to get my clothes thoroughly dry and I don't see how that is suppose to be economically efficient : (

I've had this dryer for about a month now and it holds a lot more clothes than our old dryer, and with that comes longer drying times. I love the look of the dryer, it is sleek and very sturdy.

So glad we switched to a top loader! No more insane noise during the spin cycle. Easier to dump a bag of laundry into, absolutely love it!
dryer is the worst I have ever owned. I am 62

I have had the outside vent changed 3 times in 17 months since it collects so much lint the dryer fails. We clean the vent screen every time we use it. The exhaust vent run is 4' ft. This is the worst dryer I have ever owned.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love the features on this dryer. Large capacity lets me dry my queen size comforter without any problems. Easy to use and the color is nice.
