This is my second GE combo convection/microwave/exhaust oven. I cook a lot, live in an apartment with a compact kitchen. This appliance is perfect for my space. The unit is very handsome. Each function is more than adequate. The convection application takes a while to reach temp, operates below the set temp, after disarming the auto-stepdown which most convection ovens have built in. The exhaust is quiet on low (the previous model was so loud, I never used it.) Difficult to clean. Can't use any ammonia products. The chamber is a beautifully polished stainless steel that scratches with the first cleaning. I found baking soda does the safest job.My biggest complaint with this version and the previous one: the interior light is not a user-serviceable part. Once it burns out, it's a $200 service call. The surface light is twice as bright (40W) as the previous model. The microwave works fine. I use it to to reheat leftovers and melt chocolate.Took an experienced maintenance guy an hour to remove the old unit and install the new one. Simply plugs into an outlet.I bought this GE unit again because any similar combo-products by other manufacturers seem to have more problems than this. The previous unit started arching inside the sealed unit during microwaving. 8 yrs old.

This was an absolute mistake. On my second one of these, as I thought the first problem (less than two years installed) was a fluke. After about 5 months of using it, the touchpad that controls ALL functions (except the light and turning on the vent) stopped functioning proprerly. (do an internet search, it apparently happens to A LOT of people). I replaced it with the same model, and guess what? Less than two months, and the touchpad stops working. Repair folks say it is a function of the machine not being able to withstand the stove top heat from the oven below, said he has to do a lot of these repairs... Thankfully, we had the store's extended service warranty, otherwise we were out of luck with GE. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Looks great and easy to use.

We purchased this item along with the GE Cafe Series oven and its looks and functionality are surpassed by no other on the market.
Be cautious, not getting a higher end microwave
We have had the microwave for a bit over a year and the handle (plastic with chrome color) covering is flaking off. For a higher end microwave the handle is made poorly and is cheap plastic.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We bought the entire Café series for our kitchen several months ago. The microwave is a solid appliance. We haven't had any issues or complaints.
compact as we needed it

Thius was oen of eth only microwaves that would fit above our stove without harming our backspach. The only problem I see with it is teh handle. it is plastic and although we have not experienced any melting problems we would have preferreda metal handle as it is over the stove.

like everything about it, wish the light underneath was more forward, it shines on the back of the stove needs to shine towards the front more

I bought this microwave to match the oven. I do not do much cooking in it, more reheating. I am disappointed that the microwave gets warm when I use the burners on the stove. Maybe it needs more insulation.
Do not buy!

Paid premium for this microwave, but the quality of build materials super cheap. Microwave installed 20" above the range and after 2 month the plastic handle covered by foil just pilled off make this microwave worth not more than $20. Yes it will be replaced by warranty no problem with the same foiled cheap plastic handle. I hope one day GE will review their product quality.
Great features but has design problems

Love the cooking features of this microwave just not the design of the door handle. After one month the metal coating on the handle started to peel off due to the heat from the burner below. I called GE and the service man came and replaced the door. He said this has been an on-going problem and it will probably happen again. As long as I have a warranty I will keep replacing it. For such an expensive product it is very cheaply made.

The touch screen on our last microwave did not work, so we needed to purchase a new microwave that went with our other GE cafe appliances. While this microwave was very pricey, it is remarkable. I was unsure about the dial on the touch pad, but the time it allows you to put on it seems to be perfect for whatever you are doing. The microwave heats more evenly than any other microwave I have used.
