Comments about GE Cafe Stainless Steel Convection Over-The-Range Microwave Oven:

This is my second GE combo convection/microwave/exhaust oven. I cook a lot, live in an apartment with a compact kitchen. This appliance is perfect for my space. The unit is very handsome. Each function is more than adequate. The convection application takes a while to reach temp, operates below the set temp, after disarming the auto-stepdown which most convection ovens have built in. The exhaust is quiet on low (the previous model was so loud, I never used it.) Difficult to clean. Can't use any ammonia products. The chamber is a beautifully polished stainless steel that scratches with the first cleaning. I found baking soda does the safest job.
My biggest complaint with this version and the previous one: the interior light is not a user-serviceable part. Once it burns out, it's a $200 service call.
The surface light is twice as bright (40W) as the previous model.
The microwave works fine. I use it to to reheat leftovers and melt chocolate.
Took an experienced maintenance guy an hour to remove the old unit and install the new one. Simply plugs into an outlet.
I bought this GE unit again because any similar combo-products by other manufacturers seem to have more problems than this. The previous unit started arching inside the sealed unit during microwaving. 8 yrs old.
