Our very first HE washer and so far, we are not disappointed. I bought this on the recommendation of a good friend who was highly skeptical of HE washers and absolutely loves her Cabrio. After reading negative reviews, I decided to try it anyway. The most commonly repeated criticism is the perception that the washer is not getting clothing clean and is leaving detergent residue. After the second load, which had a couple of Navy blue items, we noticed some lighter markings on the clothes.Hmm, I wasn't sure so gave the clothes an additional rinse. They came out with even more "lighter areas".This is presumably what people interpret as incomplete rinsing. Not at all! The washer does such a good job with the spin cycle that some areas come out much drier than others giving this appearance. Once the clothes were hanging to dry, these marks went away completely with no residue! Perfectly cleaned. The big test will be to see how long we go with no repairs. We'll certainly do our best to take care of this big investment! It's a good-looking beast and didn't take up any more room than the old washer. Can't wait to try blankets, etc. It sounds like it will cost next to nothing energy-wise. Quiet, too.

My mother-in-law and I sat there and watched the entire cycle-there is a nice drum light just for this purpose. This washer is sleek and looks very snazzy, but the functional design is ridiculous. The agitator only agitates items directly up against it and does not circulate the clothes efficiently. Some items get in the middle and get the dickens scrubbed out of them; others barely move, being stuck against the side of the drum.If this washer cleaned well I'd have no issues with it at all. I'd happily put up with the noise, which I do not find excessive. However, as is half the clothes come out almost knotted, the other half have merely been partially submerged (due to eco-effecient operations) in soapy water.

Not built to last
I was satisfied with this washer until recently. I have had it less than 3 years, and the hinges broke. The washer lid now needs to be help up manually and this is most inconvenient. The part alone is over $80 to replace. Add in labor, and the cost is well over $400.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We bought this wonderful washer not even a year and half ago and the Bearings just went out. It sounds like an airplane is taking off in our laundry room:( We had it serviced and will cost us $400-500 for it to be fixed. I called Whirlpool for some assistance since its very new and well taken care of machine and all they could say is SORRY!!!! I'm very disappointed and would love some help in paying for this large cost. It's not like I'm calling about a 10 year old washer!!! I'm calling about a 1 1/2 year old washer!!!!!!!!!! Will never buy whirlpool again. :(

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer

Purchased this product about a month ago. Transitioned from a noisy, bulky front load washer. Was pleasantly surprised by the size, since my first floor laundry is on the small size. Am able to move freely in that space and not be boxed in by bulky machines. I have found that washing on the bulky cycle works best for me. Had an initial lint problem (all items once wash cycle was complete, were covered in lint) using the "normal" cycle. Once I tried the different preferences, I found that the "bulky" cycle is what works best for us. No lint, clothes are not entangled in each other and they come out fresh smelling and clean.

Everytime I do a load of laundry now I am continually amazed by the quietness of the machine, the fact that so little water is required for washing and the fact that no matter what size the load from 10 pairs of jeans to several small throw rugs to 4 complete sets of sheets, as well as smaller loads of lingerie, everything comes out sparkling clean and fresh. This machine can handle everything you throw at it! My only regret is that I held on to my agitator washer for way too long.
love the new washer

I love my new high efficiency washer. It is quieter than my other washer. The controls are easy and self explanatory. Also, large enough to fit my blankets and larger loads.

We have had this washer less than 2 years and the main tub bearing is gone. Without the extended warranty, it will cost over $400 to repair. Whirlpool will not even give a discount on the parts. When buying an $800 washer, I thought it would last longer. I will never buy another Whirlpool!
