Our very first HE washer and so far, we are not disappointed. I bought this on the recommendation of a good friend who was highly skeptical of HE washers and absolutely loves her Cabrio. After reading negative reviews, I decided to try it anyway. The most commonly repeated criticism is the perception that the washer is not getting clothing clean and is leaving detergent residue. After the second load, which had a couple of Navy blue items, we noticed some lighter markings on the clothes.Hmm, I wasn't sure so gave the clothes an additional rinse. They came out with even more "lighter areas".This is presumably what people interpret as incomplete rinsing. Not at all! The washer does such a good job with the spin cycle that some areas come out much drier than others giving this appearance. Once the clothes were hanging to dry, these marks went away completely with no residue! Perfectly cleaned. The big test will be to see how long we go with no repairs. We'll certainly do our best to take care of this big investment! It's a good-looking beast and didn't take up any more room than the old washer. Can't wait to try blankets, etc. It sounds like it will cost next to nothing energy-wise. Quiet, too.

My mother-in-law and I sat there and watched the entire cycle-there is a nice drum light just for this purpose. This washer is sleek and looks very snazzy, but the functional design is ridiculous. The agitator only agitates items directly up against it and does not circulate the clothes efficiently. Some items get in the middle and get the dickens scrubbed out of them; others barely move, being stuck against the side of the drum.If this washer cleaned well I'd have no issues with it at all. I'd happily put up with the noise, which I do not find excessive. However, as is half the clothes come out almost knotted, the other half have merely been partially submerged (due to eco-effecient operations) in soapy water.

My whirlpool is a lemon

Comments about Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum White Top Load Washer:
This is the worse machine I have ever owned. I have to constantly stand over it because it gets out of balance all the time! It does not matter if it's a small or large load. The Ul error comes on all the time! For what I paid for this machine, it should do a lot better than it does! Standing over it to be sure it doesn't get out of balance takes a lot of time.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Best washer I have ever used in my life!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Top load machine
I also get a white wet linty coating on my dark clothes after washing. I follow the instructions of the maker to the "T". I usually have to put my clothes through a 2nd rinse & spin. I'm satisfied with the way they get clean overall. I also wish there was more water in the tub during washing. My Maytag used more water, but I never had residual lint on my clothes.
Do not buy

I've had this washer for 3 years and it has been the worst washer I've ever owned. The bearings wore out in less than 2 years requiring a $300 service call. Then it would not spin out even when empty giving a uL (Unbalanced load) error code. I replaced the suspension rods and that fixed the problem for less than a month. DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER.
Love the new washer

I bought this washer 5 months ago, and I'm so very happy I did. It has a large capacity, I can wash blankets, comforters, sleeping bags, any bulky item now instead of having to go to the laundry mat.

I have the Whirlpool Cabrio 8600 machine for 2 years and am currently researching a different washer. Although the machine is compact, quiet and large capacity I have had issues with it from day one. The two major issues are that in some cycles it has ruined my white t-shirts with staining from the detergent probably due to the low water use. The second issue is that every dark cycle comes out linty-and the clothing needs to be washed with a washcloth as soon as it comes out! how crazy is that? More recently, the machine gets stuck in middle of the cycle and does not advance. I have to keep running to see if it happened. I reshuffle the items and pray for it to continue the cycle. I had a maytag stackable for 20 years before this one that never gave me a problem (we moved and didn't take it with us since we got side by side model-biggest mistake!)

Takes way to long to wash!
from Fort Wayne
Does anyone else have the problem of taking 62 minutes to wash a light or moderate load of clothes. This machine is ridiculous and if we can't figure out how to wash clothes in a timely manner they can keep this thing and shove it!
So far so good

Looks great! Everyone and I mean everyone, comments on the set instead of the...everything else... I have had the set for about 2 years. (moved twice not including the first install)I would like more water.(Hense the 4 stars) Now, after reading some reviews, I have to cross my fingers.

Not built to last
I was satisfied with this washer until recently. I have had it less than 3 years, and the hinges broke. The washer lid now needs to be help up manually and this is most inconvenient. The part alone is over $80 to replace. Add in labor, and the cost is well over $400.

We bought this wonderful washer not even a year and half ago and the Bearings just went out. It sounds like an airplane is taking off in our laundry room:( We had it serviced and will cost us $400-500 for it to be fixed. I called Whirlpool for some assistance since its very new and well taken care of machine and all they could say is SORRY!!!! I'm very disappointed and would love some help in paying for this large cost. It's not like I'm calling about a 10 year old washer!!! I'm calling about a 1 1/2 year old washer!!!!!!!!!! Will never buy whirlpool again. :(
