I use my washer multiple times every day. I didn't really want to move to an energy efficient model, but that was all that was available in the size I needed. It sounds like an airplane taking off, the cycle times are twice as long as my old washer, and it takes longer to load because you have to place each item in individually, but those are my only complaints. The clothes are clean and nearly dry when I remove them. I shake the clothes out as I load them in the dryer and have no problems with wrinkles. The capacity is incredible. I have washed 2 king sized blankets at the same time without a problem. I have also washed 2 king sized pillows without the overflow problem of my old washer.

Terrible and under performing machine. This washer can not and will not clean clothes. If filled very loosely more than about one third of it's capacity it simply will not wash the entire load. All items above the one third level NEVER make it down into the water. After several attempts on all cycles to obtain clean clothes we called for the authorized Maytag repair person. He stated it is the worst design ever by Maytag and it simply will not clean a load over about 25% of it's capacity. He also stated you can get fair results by always using the "deep water cycle" extra soap and the second rinse cycle (there goes the save water pitch). We were also told that the extended warranty would be very well spent due to a very poor service record for this model. We have now owned this washer for several months and have been forced to wash very small loads daily, except whites. After several months and seeing how dingy our whites were becoming, we now make a weekly run to the laundromat to wash whites and large items. I doubt I would ever purchase a Maytag product again and am extremlely sorry I replaced my agitating washer in an unsuccessful attempt to save water.

Poor Reliability and Customer Service

Comments about Maytag Bravos XL White Top Load Washer:
Purchased A Bravos thinking I would do a good thing for the ecology (conserve Energy/Water) and just before the end of the warranty period it started making bad noises. Called their tech service and was advised I probably was not balancing the load properly. Tried their suggestions and the noise kept getting louder. Again called tech service and then was advised it probably was the transmission and cost to repair was more than new purchase. Was offered a 20% rebate on a new machine. Enough from Maytag, a Speed Queen is being delivered today. On a similar note, a out of warranty LG TV experienced a problem and was covered 100% by warranty. So much for trying to buy American built.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

do not buy!

This machine does not clean clothes! Clothes come out dirty. I have cleaned my machine and tried the different cycles, water temp, load size. Some of the clothes come out dry in spots. I am constantly rewashing clothes.
Bravos XL® HE Top Load Washer

I purchased this washer 3 years ago. Glad I took the extended warranty. However, the control board went bad on Thanksgiving Day and it is taking 6 weeks to get the part from the manufacturer. I would not buy a Maytag again. Costs $20.00 every time I go to the Laundromat. No compensation for that or my time. No loaner to use either. I liked the washer until now. Service is not acceptable. They need to keep parts available.
Worst washer I have ever seen

Doesn't get clothes clean. Wash sheets and they have dry spots on them that never saw water. Have to wash 2-3 times to get mild dirt from clothes. Tried every setting.

This was a great machine for 3 years. Now I am getting F-51 errors which keep the machine from completing the wash cycle. Repairs are estimated around $200+. I believe a good washer in a household should last over 3 years.
Doesn't wash cloths, crumples them up into balls and wears them out. When washing on on Deep Water Wash cycle it fills to about 3-4 inches and doesn't even turn the cloths over.Machine really looks good!

Can not image why this machine gets over 4 stars. Unless it's based on cosmetic. It does look good. Wish it washed as well as it looks. This is by far the worst washer I have owned. It just doesn't clean well. Towels end up looking like they have mildew growing in them within a few uses after they are "cleaned". I use bleach, hot water, max strength load and they just don't come clean. I feel I got ripped off. It's comical because it has a glass door. I watch it try to wash anything and the agitation doesn't effect what is being washed. It just moves back and forth under the laundry. During the wash cycle the laundry isn't even wet. I know it's "high efficiency" but laundry needs to get wet and be moved around in order to get clean. I never write reviews but this machine sucks badly. Save your money and buy anything else. I hope Maytag reads these reviews.
Weak Drum Suspension
from Los Angeles, CA
The drum hits the frame if the load is too big for the setting. This means they made the suspension too sensitive.

We bought one of these and it ran well. The problem we have with is the top rusted out rather quickly and the safety switch quit working from the rust. The washer is only 2 years old and is a rather expensive unit to fail so soon.
Poor Design! No Aggitator, Just Aggitating!
from Seaside, Oregon
Since purchasing this washer,(or a similar one three years ago) I have had nothing but problems with OUT OF BALANCE LOADS...no matter how hard I try to load them in such a way as to avoid this. It consistently goes off balance! If I could, I would pick it up and toss it into a landfill!!! I cannot, in good conscience sell it to anyone!!!
