Not only do I own a 6 quart KA mixer, but also an Artisan food processor. When it came time to replace my slow cooker, my first choice was of course, KitchenAid. I love this slow cooker. Like all KA appliances, it is both aesthetically pleasing and a workhorse as well. Cleans like a breeze, cooks chef-worthy meals and looks great on my countertop. Don't waste money on a cheap slow cooker, get the best name in countertop appliances and you'll have years of great meals.

Our kitchen is full of KitchenAid products, so I am surprised at the poor quality of the slow cooker's insert. I received this cooker as a Christmas gift last year, have used it less than 2 dozen times, if that, and the ceramic insert cracked while using it a couple weeks ago. I smelled a burning smell - lifted out the insert - only to find the stew had somehow "spilled" into the metal area of the slow cooker. That "spill" turned out to be a leak from a hairline crack in the insert. Given the way we care for our cookware, electrics, etc - cool before washing, storing carefully (inside, room temp), etc., I am perplexed at how easily (and soon) this insert failed. This review does not reflect my satisfaction with KitchenAid products in general, but I would not purchase this slow cooker again and do not recommend it to others. For the price, this slow cooker should have lasted years, not months.

Love my Slow Cooker
from Wichita, Kansas
Received this as a Christmas gift from our daughter and I love it. She had done numerous reviews and found this to be the one people recommended and I can see why. I use my slow cooker often and it is great! Looks beautiful too!

My older "Crock Pot" (caps used on purpose) used to boil everything, even on LOW, now finally I have one that cooks normal. Love It !!!!
Great slow cooker
from St. Louis
After reading reviews in the Cooks Magazine November issue, I ordered this slow cooker to replace mine which was obtained a little over 40 years ago and no longer worked well. Since receiving this slow cooker 3 weeks ago, I have used it at least 4 times a week and absolutely love it. Old machine did not have timer, display or any other features such as keeping food warm for a good amount of time once the cooking time was done. This machine works great and, I feel, was a very good investment.

I purchased this unit on the basis of a recent Cook's Illustrated review to replace a five year old Rival "Crock Pot." Although I am aware of the differences in cooking temperatures between the older and newer slow cookers (I also have a thirty-plus year old Hamilton Beach slow cooker), I am somewhat confused as to the recommended cooking times and temperatures. My oldest slow cooker (the Hamilton Beach) is spot on rregarding cooking times and temperatures, andmy newer Rival "Crock Pot" seems to cook at a much higher temperature, resulting in over-cooked foods regardless of the temperature setting. However, the two times I've used the new Kitchenaid appliance thus far resulted in one instance of a very overcooked roast on low, and another instance of the same type of roast (beef chuck) under-cooked on high, each following the recommended times for the recipe. Unless I'm missing something, there is either a defect in the appliance or I'm somehow way behind the learning curve. In either case, this may not be the best choice for a slow cooker.

3 Temperature Settings
from Boise, Idaho
This model was highly recommended by Cooks Illustrated so I thought I would try it. So happy I did. Three temperature settings and then a warm setting. Works beautifully if we are a bit late getting home. The food doesn't burn, but is still kept warm. Love it!!
Cooks wonderfully. Timer feature is something I never had before and find it so useful. Major reason I purchased this is due to to fact it does not leach lead.

WORST SLOW COOKER
from Wood-Ridge, NJ
I just bought this slow cooker on the recommendation of America's Test Kitchen... big MISTAKE. After NINE HOURS my beef stew is not done. Even the carrots and potatoes are hard as a rock!! I should have stuck with my Cuisinart 6qt multi cooker that has never failed me. Done with Kitchen Aid..... don't waste your money on this and it weighs a ton!!!
Fun To Use

Easy to use. Sturdily built. Disappointed n the lack of a recipe book. I bought them from America's Test kitchen. They are excellent.
First Slow Cooker Purchase

We purchased this one because it came recommended from Cook's Illustrated Slow Cooker Revolution Cook Book. Used it once and so far so good. It cleaned up easy and I think the lid is made of plastic which is great because I would likely break an actual glass one.The one unexpected feature was the bracket on the bottom to store the power cord when not in use. Great idea!
