This is an excellent refrigerator with all the features we need. The counter-depth design is just right for our kitchen. The full-depth predecessor somewhat obstructed the entryway. A drawback of the smaller dimensions is that a gallon-size milk jug doesn't fit in the door, but that's not a major concern now that we are empty-nesters. To better utilize the space we had to buy an extra shelf for the freezer compartment and an extra tub and frame for the refrigerator door. These parts turned out to be very expensive. The ice-maker didn't work very well so we called for service. The technician came quickly and decided that the problem was a loose connector. It still didn't work so a second call brought a technician that had the foresight to bring a new ice-maker. It was installed, the water line was thawed out and the ice-maker now works perfectly

I want to warn potential buyers that the fridge that will be delivered will most likely not look as beautiful as what you see in the pictures online. We purchased two of these refrigerators from Sears and have had a terrible experience so far. Both of the initial refrigerators were delivered with dents and/or "waves" in the stainless steel. I assumed these resulted from the delivery process so we requested that two new refrigerators be sent out. The 2 new replacements both arrived dented as well (must blame the poor delivery service of Sears for this as the delivery guys dropped one of them in the driveway and probably did something to cause damage to the other as well). Two more fridges were sent out and we requested that they inspect them before loading them on the truck for delivery (strange this wouldn't be standard practice). They both arrived with no apparent dents, but both still had "waves" in the stainless steel (one looked almost identical in location to the one it replaced). I realized at this point that it must be a manufacturing issue at Whirlpool. We purchased all new KitchenAid appliances for our recently built home and had done the same for the home we built about 10 years ago as we were happy with them and thought they were also quite beautiful. I'm not sure what has happened since then, but the look of the new refrigerators is very disappointing. My first impression when they were brought in was that they looked identical to the much cheaper Whirlpool and Maytag refrigerators, only with a KitchenAid logo. The stainless steel doesn't even look the same as what is on the other KitchenAid Architect appliances we purchased. I don't expect a completely different refrigerator than less expensive brands as they are all made by Whirlpool, but what happened to quality control? Is it too much to ask for a fridge like one shown in all of the pictures online, and one that looks like it is a little nicer than the less expensive brands? Six out of the 6 refrigerators delivered had similar issues to varying degrees. I started to ask Sears to replace these last two again, but figured I'd end up with the same waves in the new one's as well. And don't even get me started on Sears delivery. You will be lucky if they don't damage your house along with the refrigerators during delivery (I'll post these comments on the Sears website). I can't comment yet on the function of the fridges as we just received them, but be warned about their looks. If we didn't want all the appliances to match we would go to a different brand at this point as KitchenAid doesn't seem to be cutting it with their refrigerators. I will say that we have had none of these same issues with the other new KitchenAid appliances though (dishwasher, double convection oven, and 2 microwaves). The two attached photos will give you a good idea for what to expect. Note the "wave" look in the upper left corner on both refrigerators and also the one on the right side a little above the plastic for in the second photo. You'll have to look past the mess and plastic on the front. Believe it or not, this is how the Sears delivery people left things. I mentioned the new refrigerators had the wrong handles and asked if we could use the handles from those that were replaced, and the delivery guys went outside to make a call and ended up just loading the old fridges and driving off.

Comments about KitchenAid Counter Depth Stainless Refrigerator:
I love my new Counter-Depth refrigerator. It solved my guest flow problems in my kitchen. I had a wedding shower lunch and everyone had room to walk around without the refrigerator jutting out into the aisle. I am amazed what a difference this made. And of course everything else about the refrigerator is great also.

Great space, but lacking a few details
from Oklahoma City, OK
I have owned this refrigerator since April 2015. Overall it's a really excellent unit - quiet, and quite a bit of capacity for a "counter-depth" model. I love the water metering feature - displays how much water is dispensed, or automatically dispensed. Also, I love side-by-sides - no better design for freezer access and utility! However some definite negatives:1) The exterior is VERY difficult to clean. It's a deeply grained stainless steel that looks great but easily gets streaky if you don't clean it in JUST the right way. My tip: hot water and lots of terry towel buffing rags. My Maytag dishwasher of the same age and stainless steel finish is much easier to clean. I think the grain is much deeper on the Refrigerator, giving it a better overall look, but making it harder to clean properly.2) A bit of an internal electrical issue. Sometimes a few of the LED light bulbs inside don't light up when the door is opened unless you tap on them, there must be a loose connection at the bulb - tapping one usually fixes the rest of the series chain.3) One of the wheels is a bit squeaky and you hear it when you open the door or are cleaning the surface. A bit annoying, but probably easily fixable with a little WD-40.
Always has a small puddle of water where the doors meet

Super expensive to repair, have had a problem with condensation since the day it was plugged in. Asked two different repair men sent out by kitchen aid ( to repair something else) , how to get rid of the "puddle". Neither of the temperature adjustments worked. Because I purchased the refrigerator for a newly remodeled kitchen, we literally had less than a week of warranty left by the time we installed it, therefore I hesitate to call for another evaluation because the condensation is STILL there, worried about the puddle ruining my brand new wood floor!

My wife and I purchased this product as part of a complete Kitchen remodel. We actually purchased the product before we started the remodel project because we really liked the appearance and we got a great deal on it. We liked the product so much that we decided to go with Kitchen Aid brand appliances throughout the entire kitchen. This refrigerator looks great, and performs flawlessly! We are convinced we made the right choice going with Kitchen Aid for our newly remodeled kitchen.
Great! but I would make some changes
from Fresno, CA
I have no complaints at all about how well this appliance works. I do, however, live with someone that has some disabilities so I wanted to move all the shelves down to a lower level on the door. I'm sure the company has it's reasons for this design but the shelves and their holders are not all made the same so they are not interchangeable. I can only move the butter holder down one notch so I wasn't able to make all the shelves accessible to my roommate. The water dispenser in the door also takes a lot of force to activate. I'm able bodied but I know one day, I won't be. Companies should all plan for this inevitability.
Little space inside
from Miami, FL
I had a previous KitchenAid counter depth refrigerator and it was very spacious inside. I bought this one because I thought it was going to be the same, however this fridge doesn't have not too much room inside, the vegetables drawer don't have room to put too many things inside. Canisters in the door too small, only 2 out of the four that have a decent size, the other two you can't even put an 18 pack of eggs in. Freezer the same, drawers too small.

I bought my KA Frig 2 months ago and we love it. The icemaker was slow to start making ice but everything is great now. Icemaker is noisey filling water. only complaint.
KitchenAid Refrigerator Scores a Perfect 10!!!!

I just moved into my condo and knew someday I would purchase a new refrigerator. I went out to to purchase several items one needs after moving into a new home and found this particular refrigerator near some other units. I looked at it and it didn't take long to realize that it was just perfect for me! It had been a Special Order Item, but the people changed their minds and cancelled the order, and I was lucky enough to buy it! The glass shelves and storage bins keep everything neatly organized, but visible at all times and they clean up beautifully. The ice maker and water dispenser are really nice-to-have features too. Its great just dispensing a glass of cold water with or without ice. I just LOVE this refrigerator!

I bought this refrigerator 4 month ago and I'm very disappointed cause I just noticed the rust coming out on the front door in the middle, I'm waiting for service to come over and chack it , but frankly if it's rusting now I want to return cause it is only going to get worse, plus the rust spots are in three different spots. Another con is cleaning it is very difficult.
