I really like this dishwasher. The only negative is it takes about 2 hours to wash/dry. Not a major deal since it's so quiet.

The internal water softening system is a godsend for the brutally hard water where I live. It would have been nice to have a sample water hardness test strip packed in with the unit. (The strips are available as a courtesy via Bosch customer service.) Would also have been nice to have a sample pack of dishwasher salt. Because I live in a rural area, I had no access locally to either of the above so had to wait 2 more weeks to order these items via Amazon to use the dishwasher for the first time. You can prepare better than I did. Call Bosch in advance to ask what you will need if you are unsure.
This dishwasher uses less detergent because it uses less water. All I had on had were Finish All in 1 Powerballs. I'm breaking them in half. In the future I might buy powder and measure out a tablespoon.

I bought an 18 inch dishwasher to replace an old one. Didn't want to remodel my kitchen so used the existing undercounter space. Somehow this Bosch seems larger than the brand I had before. Probably due to its superior design. If I had a huge kitchen this unit would also be great near a bar or refrigerator just to keep the glassware always ready.

There is a amber colored protective film on the exterior of the door which should be removed to reveal the stainless steel beneath. Even the installer didn't notice this, and initially I mistakenly thought there was an error.

This unit is so quiet It Is A DREAM COME TRUE.
Bosch customer service is excellent and will walk you through anything.

We bought this item because the house we recently purchased did not have a dishwasher but did have an 18" cabinet beside the sink that could be removed. It fits perfectly! This little guy fills up pretty quickly but is nicely designed to fit as many dishes as possible. It is the quietest dishwasher I have ever used and so far it seems to do an excellent job cleaning up (certainly better than the hand washing my husband was doing!). Overall I'm ecstatic about the purchase!

Our kitchen won't fit a 24" dishwasher but this one holds so much that it's softened the disappointment of not having a larger capacity dishwasher. The adjustable tines and adjustable top basket allow you to load just about any combination of dishes. We're also really impressed that it cleans our plastic container lids without blowing them all over the top basket yet cleans with enough power to get even baked on food off. It's so quiet that, at first, we weren't sure if it was running or not until we saw the timer ticking down the minutes. We used to have to wait to run the dishwasher until the baby was up but now the baby can sleep within feet of the dishwasher with no problem.

We have an in home water softener/filtration system so we don't use the build in water softener at all. We were worried at first about having one in the dishwasher since we knew we didn't need it but you can bypass it very easily if you don't need it.

Certainly not least of all, the dishes come out clean. We use a rinse aid as the manufacturer recommends and the dishes come out clean and dry.

Love the stainless steel interior and nylon racks. The old dishwasher racks started to rust after so many years but that won't be the case with this one.

Service and delivery comments:

There was some delay in delivery because the 18" had to be ordered, then arrive at Abt then get shipped out. We talked to a customer service rep when our order status said "back ordered." The rep was very helpful in explaining what "back ordered" meant and when to expect deliver. Everything went as expected from there.

Great dishwasher - easy install and great design. Very VERY quiet, uses little water and soap, great results. It is a SMALL dishwasher (and I have a studio apartment) - one or two pots and pans will fill space quickly - but great for all purpose plates, silverware and glasses.

I live alone and use the dishwasher about once a week. Can't hear it when it is on and looks and fits great in my small kitchen.
