We went from a standard size dishwasher to this and couldn't be happier! The biggest reason I chose this one was for the water softener since we have bad well water that destroyed our last dishwasher.Pros:I have now used it several times with some challenging food residue and this machine gets it ALL clean. A glass lasagna pan with baked on sauce and cheese as well as cat food bowls with dried on food- clean! This machine is significantly quieter than our last one.No water spots!Cons:It was a bit of a challenge for me to find dishwasher water softening salt locally since it doesn't seem to be something that grocery stores carry. I did finally find it at a large appliance store in the area. The wash cycles seem fairly long at approx. 2 hours start to finish. There is no way to stop the machine once started. The manual says to carefully open the door and press the off button but you might get splashed with hot water.

About Me Every day user
Comments about Bosch 18" Stainless Steel Built-In Dishwasher:
I have been pleased with this dishwasher overall. We use it as a second dishwasher for our dairy dishes and we run it nearly every day. It cleans well and it so quiet, however, I don't like that my kids plastic cups will not stay upside-down on the top rack and consequently flip over and fill up with water pretty much every cycle. It has a lot of space for plates, but I find it harder to find space for bowls. All in all, this little dishwasher has made my life easier and I look forward to many years of use.

Can a Dishwasher change your life?
from So Cal
A great great great great product, but first some background.Years ago, after doing dishes by hand for 10 years, I thought it was time to invest in a dishwasher. Back then there were not many 18 inch dishwashers. There was cheap and there was Bosch. Thinking that a cheap little washer would be better than nothing at all, i went with another very well known brand, and I went cheap. BAD idea. With the cheapie, dishes still had to be rinsed after washing, the dishes never dried nicely, (condensation on the top of the washer dripped down onto what should have been dry dishes) the glasses were always spotty and eventually we went back to hand washing, since that is what we had to do with just about everything that came out of that dishwaher. We didnt blame the dishwasher though. We thought our pipes were too old, or maybe our water pressure too weak. It is an old house. After a month of life being toooo busy to clean the kitchen daily just this year, i sat down, did some dishwasher homework the the Bosch was still getting great reviews. I just threw down the credit card and went for it. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! This bosch 18 inch is UNBELIEVABLE!! There are only two of us in the house, so the rinse feature is fantastic! Morning dishes get loaded and rinsed with the 9 minute rinse feature, after dinner the whole thing gets loaded and we just put in the detergent and walk away. Dont get me started on the open dispenser for the dish soap! Our OLD one? if we were gone a weekend and didnt use it, the door would seal itself shut with soad reside. That stuff was like cement. But this open design? Not an issue, it's self cleaning. Maybe thats not new and exciting to you, but after what i went through with the old one? This alone rocks my world! I have not had ONE BIT of food (except one grain of rice in a fork) to wash off in almost a month of daily use, not one spot on my glasses--and it's exceptionally quiet. Like at least ONE other reviewer, I too have opened it to see if it's actually working. Yes, it's THAT quiet! The design in stainless steel is beautiful and since the buttons are in the top of the door (not near the top--ON the top), there are very few places you are going to leave fingerprints so cleaning the outside is a snap. The utensil basket that can be moved around within the dishwasher? Genius!!I could seriously go on and on, but if you are weighing a Bosch and it's cost against the price of another 18 inch cheaper model and manufacturer, let me save you the trouble. Buy the Bosch. Seriously, it has changed my life!

About Me Once-twice a week user
Looks great once in. Took a bit of work to get a hole large enough to run the water line hose through (there is some mechanism on the end of the line that requires the hole to be 2" x 3"), so I have some large holes in between my cabinets now. Otherwise, it is quiet and attractive. The red light that glows when it is on is helpful too. Pretty cool appliance by Bosch.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was late due to the truck getting into an accident. I was able to open package and inpsect for damage and everything looked fine. PILOT delivery company was used and the delivery team was OK.

About Me Avid Cook
Once installed, this unit works great. For our kitchen, which is very low on cabinet space, it is the perfect solution. For just the two of us, it's perfect. It holds a couple days worth of dishes and the highly adjustable racks make it workable for everything a normal dishwasher can take. The controls are easy enough to use once you set your preferred settings. With those set, a normal load is literally push 1)power, 2)start. That's it. Pretty quiet too.The installation was a little troublesome - It has these brackets that you screw into the counter but the tolerances are so strict that it's downright impossible to get them in the slot. Fortunately, there were aux screw holes for side mounting and those worked easy enough

I owned a GE dishwasher for years and it was so noisy we could only run it when no one was home. The Bosch is so well engineered to be quiet that we don't even know it's on half the time. Plus the dishes are coming out cleaner than ever!
