After reading all the negative reviews, I can't figure out why anyone would knock this product! In regards to set up, it's virtually idiot-proof. Everything is self-explanatory and the only set up is putting one screw in the top handle. You simply select "Wash" or "Rinse" and you ready to go. If anyone experienced a broken cleaner, they didn't read the instructions properly. I have white carpets all throughout my home and wanted something that would really brighten them up (as I've lived here about 5 years) This cleaner WOW'ed my and exceeded my expectations on what a carpet shampooer could do. The water from the tank was so dirty and almost black; it was great to see all the debris it picked up. Carpets smelled fresh and for a shampooer, wasnt overly heavy. My carpets were completely dry within a few hours. I would recommend this product to family and friends and can always count on Hoover for a great, reliable product.

We previously owned an earlier Hoover Steam Carpet cleaner, and was extremely happy. However, I did my research to find the best brand/model/price that would do the cleaning in our home, and I was set to buy a different brand/model. My husband's research determined this model was an overall better deal with better reviews, so I went with the Hoover. The first month and a half, it worked great, had no complaints. However, my opinion did not last. First, was the fact that as soon as I used the stair hose assembly, everything went south. I noticed that even while using the cleaner for carpet floor cleaning, the hose was continually leaking even when not in use. Second, the whole unit dirty/clean water holding tanks would not stop leaking, meaning that no matter what if I stopped to empty or refill any holding tank, I had to remove everything, because otherwise I would come back to the machine with a huge puddle underneath unit, bad seals? Third, the quality/design of the hose system is the cheapest I have ever seen, and it leaks, sprayer portion continues to spray leak all the time. Fourth, The overall workmanship of actually cleaning/ suctioning went from a 9 (out of ten) to 3 after the 1st month and a half of ownership (approximately 1 complete carpet cleaning and 2 spot cleanings). Conclusion: Hoover manufacture and design needs to use better materials for manufacturing the unit, offer solutions resolving the major issue's of consumers that own this model, as in recall/updates that improve product and customer satisfaction.

Like it but leaks out of the hose.

By

from Post Falls, ID, United States

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

I purchased this carpet cleaner in May 2012. I have used other brands and do like that it is easier for me to use. I did have a problem a few months after purchasing with the tank and springs. Hoover quickly fixed it for me and sent me a replacement tank w/springs. I do like it. Just outside of the 2 year warranty, my hose starts leaking when I use the main carpet cleaning machine. I cannot afford to have it fixed but am hoping there is something I can do to fix it. I am frustrated cause I can't afford to buy a new one. Any suggestions? I would give it more stars if it gets fixed.

Carpet is too wet afterwards

By

from Grovetown, GA, United States

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

I had an old Hoover that worked great, I replaced the motor once after years of use, the second time just decided to buy a new one assuming will be better and improved and got this model. It works and cleans and the cleaning attachment works better than the old one, but as far as the vacuum using it, leaves to much water on the carpet and of course the dirt in it. I'm not new using this and consider myself very good at it, but on this one out of a full canister of water and detergent only get 1/3 of it back on the cleaner and of course the other 2/3 stay in the carpet. Which means that is just picking up 1/3 of the dirt it could, know will be impossible to pick up the whole tank back in the cleaner, but even in the bare floor leaves a lot of water!!! I hope they could build the old one again.

Cleans well-Cheap drive pin is it's downfall!

By

from Seattle, WA, United States

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

I love this cleaner and am a fan of Hoover for many machines and years. It works well-when its working. The drive pin continually breaks and this is a common problem noted by many, many users. They should come up with a new pin as a replacement so that people don't keep wasting their money and time! Come on Hoover!!

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

Tried using this today for first time. The power button doesn't work, unless I keep it manually pressed down while trying yo clean carpet. It did not extract worth a dime, carpet is very wet, and not sure brushes were even moving. So frustrated.

Brush drive pin doesn't hold up

    By

    from Seymour , CT. 06483

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

When it works it seems to work well except that the scrub brush drive pins keeps on breaking. I ordered two extra and went through both of them in one afternoon. They real need to beef up the brush drive train.

Cleans carpets great. Made them look like new.

    By

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

This carpet washer did a incredible job on cleaning the carpets. Made them look like new. Only problem was after six months of light light use ( using about once a month or less) the rubber seals for the clean water tank and cleaning solution started leaking. I do have to say this has been one of my best carpet washers I have owned. This is the 3rd one I bought.

    Never again

    By

    from Ohio

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

I have had Hoover carpet cleaners and loved them, but not this one. The pin on the brush bar broke the second time I used it, then I replaced it and did not use the machine for a year. Just purchased a new house and went to use it and the pin on the brush bar broke again. I called and the part is on back order, wonder why. I can't get a new part till June , I can't wait that long so I will have to go buy a new machine. My 20 year relationship with Hoover will end because of this machine. This is by far the cheapest made machine I have ever owned.

    WOW ME TOO

    By

    from Georgia, United States

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

We purchased the Max Extract 60 from Target a year or so ago, paying over $200 without reading any reviews first. Well after 20 minutes the brushes did not work anymore on the first run. So me being an engineer I looked at it, saw no hair or strings and determined something was really wrong. I took it apart brushes first because they did not rotate anymore, and noticed a green plastic pin, shaped like a pentagon was broken; it looked like it twisted in a soft spot and finally broke. So its been sitting for a while now, and I was wanting to through it away but I just thought about going to Hoover.com to see if I could order the part. Well I am going to order about 3, maybe more, just in case this happens again and if it brakes again, I'll just stick to the professionals, which might be cheaper anyway. Thanks for the reviews everyone.

After Years of Use It Still Works Beautifully!!!!

    By

from San Angelo, TX, United States

Comments about Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaning Upright Vacuum:

I buy only Hoover shampooers because they're the only ones I can find that allow I I buy only Hoover shampooers because they're the only ones I can find that allow you to rinse with clear water - as often as you like. Since soap left in the carpet attracts dirt, it's a no-brainer to buy one that gets rid of the soap! I can afford to have my rugs professionally cleaned but the pro's DON'T RINSE! That makes for loads of repeat business for them. I have an old dog that at times decides she'd rather potty on the rugs than go outside (also when she's upset with me) so I often use the shampooer monthly - or even weekly. If all goes well with the dogs, I shampoo every 4 months or so. With a 5000 sq. ft. home (plus a guest house) -- that makes for a lot of wear and tear on any shampooer. The Max Extract 60 has held up admirably - so much so that I bought one for my son who is a single parent raising twin 9 year old boys and a teenaged daughter. He loves it, too!! Other family members borrow mine once or twice a year. I would recommend cleaning it well after each use. Pay particular attention to the 2 screens. Also, I NEVER leave any water or soap in the machine. That's asking for problems with the seals. Are there a couple of things I'd change? Of course. First, I'd expand the user's manual. I don't think it's as thorough as it should be. Second, if Hoover is going to hide a filter behind the front suction panel, they should make it easier to remove without breaking off the top tab. I just managed to break it off my shampooer and am in the midst of drilling small holes and running a wire through them to catch on the hook. Be very gentle if/when you have to remove that front piece. The key to this last part is I BROKE IT OFF! It didn't break itself. (Short Example) My sister's Labrador retriever was digging in mud and ended up absolutely covered in it. She snuck in through the dog door while my sis was busy in another part of the house. When she returned her rugs appeared to be ruined. She called me almost in tears. (The house was less than 2 years old.) I told her to come get my shampooer and that I really thought it would take care of the problem. After a quick lesson, she left with the shampooer. You guessed it -- the rugs are like new again.
