You will not inspect the freezer as frequently as the refridgerator, so keep the freezer on the bottom.* French doors allow you some flexibility as to where to orient the unit.* It's on the small side. This unit fits perfectly in my tiny condo kitchenThe best surprise this refridgerator had was it's shelving configurations. You can fold the upper shelf in half to make room for taller objects. There is also a shallow, bottom drawer which is designed for dairy products and cut meats. I really dug this feature because it forced me into organizing my refridgerator.The shelves on the doors hold all of my beer and a one-gallon milk jug.Altogether, this is a great unit.

Our 30" French Door unit is beautiful and what I needed for access with a bad back. However, I've had a series of problems for which wehave not yet sought extended warranty help. Our troubles have beenwith motor noise, temperature, ice maker and freezer light bulb.The unit arrived with a broken freezer light bulb which no longer isavailable from Whirlpool, Lowe's or websites visited. I've received 4replacement bulbs supposed to work but none fit the receptacle..The refrigerator has since arrival made a grinding noise when starting. We have leveled, tried adjusting the filter, adjusted the position and asked the installer to return several times but the problem is not solved.Also, the non-factory Whirlpool ice maker overflows sending ice cubes under the freezer compartment. Ice comes out onto the floor when the freezer is opened. I had 52 cubes below the freezer compartment once and 38 another time when cleaning out the cubes. Now I raise the arm when the ice receptacle is full but I don't think I should have to. Temperature is also an issue. I have 2 thermometers inside (top andbottom). The setting level must be # 4 (5 is coldest) in order to keep thetemperature below 40 degrees. The recommended average (3 star) temp setting measured 42 degrees inside. Our electric company advises refrigerators be 38-40 degrees to maintain food safety. I stilllove the look of the unit and will call for service now that I know it's needed and not a function of incomplete installation from February.It's a shame to have so many things wrong. We are extremely pleased with our new refrigerator. The exterior is beautiful, the water feature is handy, and the interior design is very efficient. The best feature, however, was shocking to us. Immediately, our power bill was reduced by a significant amount. If I had known that purchasing a new refrigerator would cause that result, I would have bought a new refrigerator years ago.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I purchase this product a year an half ago, after few months problems start, was making ice on the bottom with a big noise and was unable to cool the upper part. After seeing many technicians changing parts and Whirlpool decide to give my money back, they was unable to fix the problem. I had purchase the 5 years extended warranty, thanks God.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great features like light bulbs inside both freezer and refrigerator (didn't have that in my old fridge), nice control panel, however, less capacity than my old one, and the freezer draw is less convenient to use, I like door more convenient. SS requires more maintenance, but much better look.One last annoying thing, the veggy drawer always falls of its track on the left side, and it's hard to pull it off to realign and replace it (LH door is in the way)....

Ice maker maker sensor bar does not go down and/or ......

Not replacing refrigerator. it's practically brand new. Although I wish we could afford to. Refrig is just past warranty period. This refrigerator works fine except....from time to time the ice maker bar does not go down when the ice tray is empty, or near empty. Tried gently placing it down by hand. Not possible. Sometimes ice maker bar goes down automatically but, does not make ice in 24hrs? or insufficient amount. Made sure the water line is not kinked, refrigerator water filter is not clogged. What can I as a homeowner do instead of spending hundreds for a service call for just out of warranty service?

Wish it was just a little wide,31-31 1/2 would have been great. I have a 32 inch space. The refrigerator is great, especially shelves.

Dimensions not properly given in showroom

This was purchased a month ago as part of a complete kitchen remodel. Dimension in the showroom showed 30 inches wide. I had 30 1/2 inches for the old refrigerator so delivery was arranged.When placed in the space (the right side was a wall) the right door would not open. There is one sentence in the manual that says there must be a two inch clearance to open. The cabinets and counter top had to be modified. Until they arrive I cannot open the right door so 1/3 of the interior space is not accessible. This clearance requirement should have been prominently displayed in the showroom!

I bought this 4/9/12. At once the freezer basket fell off the slides. finally Oct. 18 they sent a repair man. He ordered a new basket and that did the same thing. They tried a shim and that did not work. then in April they sent 2 little rollers that they super glued on, that has worked to date. Now the slide on one side of the freezer basket won't retract far enough to let the freezer door close. I had to take all my frozen food to a family member home. Then took apart and got it to shut, so I taped it shut. If you open it will not shut again. I would not recommend one to a enemy.

I bought this six weeks ago and I am not certain I made the right choice. the doors did not seal properly. the shelves will not support some drink and juice bottles.
I love my refrigerator.

I had this Refrigerator over a week so far great I follwed the instructions and set the freezer and fridge to 3 dots or stars and my beer was nice and cold, and done converted my stove and washing Machines to whirpool now. and I love the features on all.

Fridge is fine, Whirpool customer service is atrocious

We bought last September and were very excited at the time -- it was the first time we'd ever been able to afford a new fridge.Sadly, we have received shockingly poor service. The first fridge arrived with scratches. We sent it back. The second fridge arrived -- with scratches on all the doors! Our complaints got us a service call from the local contractor who handles Whirlpool accounts. He noted that the doors were scratched and recommended replacement. (Within an hour of his leaving, the fridge quit working but that was a small glitch that a reset fixed).We were then more than a month into the problems. Repeated calls to Whirlpool by us were rebuffed. The local contractor had to call to even get them to agree to replaced the doors!Well, guess what? Three months later, we still hadn't heard anything. Fed up, we called and asked for our money back. Whirlpool refused, and wouldn't commit to a date to have the doors replaced.It is now June -- NINE MONTHS since we purchased -- and we have just now received a call from the local contractor stating that the doors are here. We are beyond dissatisfied, and have made a point to tell this story to everyone we know. I cannot believe the Whirlpool brand has come to this. Needless to say, we have agreed to never consider buying any of their products again -- not even when we finish buying our new home.
