Product Details

Sony Cyber-Shot 18.2 Megapixel Red Digital Camera, Model DSCHX10VR

Capture the decisive moment and its GPS location automatically with the DSC-HX10V. Its 16X Optical/32X Clear Image zoom gets you in close for detailed 18MP pictures, provides optical stabilization for smooth Full HD videos and high speed AF. Photo Creativity lets you preview exposure, white balance, and Picture Effects before you shoot.

Features:

  • 18.2MP Exmor® R CMOS sensor
The 18.2MP Exmor® R CMOS sensor captures ultra-high definition images that take full advantage of the camera’s sharp Sony® G lens. An advanced BIONZ processor rapidly analyzes the Extra-High Sensitivity data from the sensor, and activates By-Pixel Super Resolution technologies to reduce noise levels, resulting in stunning low light images with incredible details
  • High speed AF
To improve focusing speed and sensitivity, the Exmor® R CMOS sensor uses its rapid throughput to deliver high-quality image signals to the camera’s BIONZ® processor. The result is fast, DSLR-like focusing speeds, even in low light
  • Optical zoom plus Clear image zoom
Most digital zooms use electronic cropping to get closer to the subject, resulting in unsharp images. With Clear Image Zoom the powerful processor compares patterns found in adjacent pixels and creates new pixels to match selected patterns, resulting in more realistic, higher-quality images. Clear Image Zoom doubles optical zoom for closer photos
  • Full HD 1080/60i
Record crystal clear movies at the highest resolution available with capabilities for 60i in 1080 AVCHD™ video.¹ This provides stunning, fast motion video with less distortion for playback on your HD TV. With dual record of stills and movies, you can shoot both at the same time
  • Capture the decisive moment with up to 10fps
Capture full 18.2 megapixel resolution images at up to 10 frames per second, helping to ensure that the decisive moment is captured such as the soccer ball flying into the goal. In addition, a mechanical shutter helps reduce distortion when continuously shooting moving subjects
  • Optical SteadyShot™ with Active Mode
Optical SteadyShot™ with Active Mode for blur-free movies even while walking. Camera-shake compensation using Optical SteadyShot/Active Mode has been improved with the addition of new electronic image stabilization. Now it’s easier than ever to obtain sharp, blur-free movies even when zooming in unsteady situations, such as shooting with one hand while walking
  • 3D Still Image and 3D Sweep Panorama™ mode
Produce awe-inspiring images with 3D Still Image and 3D Sweep Panorama™ capabilities. Photos will take on a new dimension of creative capabilities for viewing the world in a whole new way
  • Picture Effect
Picture Effect adds a new level of expression to photos, making ordinary landscapes and portraits come to life by heightening mood and emphasizing certain attributes. Select camera models have up to nine different effects
  • Photo Creativity
Photo Creativity allows you to fine-tune your exposure settings, such as brightness, color, and vividness, and quickly choose the right enhancement for your subject. Now you can view Picture Effects and Photo Creativity effects in real time on the camera’s monitor or in the viewfinder before shooting
  • Background Defocus
DSLR photographs are often beautiful because they blur the background, putting the emphasis on the subject. Now our point-and-shoot cameras can deliver this signature DSLR benefit. The system takes two shots, identifies the background and applies a defocused background keeping the subject crisp and clear
  • Superior Auto mode
Get cleaner, more dynamic pictures and fewer missed shots. The camera automatically recognizes the correct scene mode, then quickly shoots and combines up to six shots to produce images with greater clarity, optimum dynamic range using Backlight Correction HDR technology and lower image noise using 6 shots layering technology. Superior Auto intelligently detects 33 scenes for still images and movies, making it easy to get the best shot
  • Face Detection technology
Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends
  • Smile Shutter™ technology
Smile Shutter™ technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter™ button and the camera does the rest. You can also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can be used together with Smile Shutter™ mode when the Intelligent Auto mode is on. This means that beautiful smiles can be captured with settings optimized for the particular scene, even in difficult conditions such as twilight and backlighting
  • GPS and Compass
GPS and compass record location data and camera direction as you shoot movies and photos. GPS Log lets users track a photographic journey and later view the path and images on a map. Map View in “PlayMemories Home” software, allows users to view images on a map showing where they were taken. The logged path and images can also be displayed on Google Earth
  • Anti-blink Function
It’s frustrating to capture the perfect shot, only to review it later and discover subjects blinked during the photo. The Anti-blink function works to help counter blinking and squinting. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot
  • Soft Skin mode
Portrait subjects will love the results. Soft Skin mode recognizes skin tones and reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles without affecting the rest of the shot
  • Intelligent Scene Recognition Mode
Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects 33 different types of scenes and selects the appropriate camera settings. iSCN has two modes: Auto and Advanced. In Auto Mode, the camera takes a single shot using the optimal settings. In Advanced Mode, the camera takes a photo with the optimal settings and, if in difficult lighting (low light or back light) immediately takes a second photo with another optimized setting so you can choose which to keep
  • Natural Flash
Conventional point-and-shoot camera flash shots just don't capture colors the way the eye sees them. Natural Flash controls the white balance of both the background and main subjects
  • Motion Detection
Motion Detection, along with Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when movement is detected, reducing blur in moving subjects and faces
  • Sweep Multi Angle™ mode
In Sweep Multi Angle™ mode, the camera takes 15 images at different angles as it sweeps across the scene. By tilting the camera during playback, the camera’s Gyro Sensor detects motion and displays the image in a 3D-like view on the camera’s LCD

Compact but near equal performance to DSLR camera

By

from Richmond, VA.

Comments about Sony Cyber-Shot 18.2 Megapixel Silver Digital Camera:

The capabilities and the performance of this camera are just impressive. I have a website for which I use this camera to take my product photos, and I keep getting comments about how great the product photography looks, including from photographers! What they don't know is that this is the camera I use, and I am just your average camera user! You can see my photos at VALOOSA.com. So here are some of the highlights of what I love about this compact camera: awesome anti-shake function, impressive manual zoom at 8x, auto setting mode according to the type of shoot and environment, nice panorama shoot, 18.1 M Pixels for crisp photos, background blur function, has lots of built-in artificial intelligence to automatically help the un-professional user like me, non-stop video with zoom, and slips right into the little pocket of my shirt! What I don't like about it: it feels a little bit flimsy (although it dropped hard twice and is still going), battery life could be longer, and I don't like the delete toggle button function. Well, I'm about to order another one as a gift for my brother. Great job on this one Sony!

DSC-WX150 Nice camera but.....

By

from Chicago Il

Comments about Sony Cyber-Shot 18.2 Megapixel Silver Digital Camera:

We recently purchased our WX150 and found it to be an easy point and shoot camera. The pictures and videos are very sharp. The auto features do a nice job in selecting the proper setting based on conditions for example low lighting. Two cons are first the problem with uploading videos to a MAC and Facebook. While on vacation I tried to download the vidoes on my daughter's Mac for her but the MAc did not recognize them. In my investigation it appears additional software or conversion is required. Secondly the battery in this camera does not appear to have the life that my old Cyber shot had resulting in some lost photo opertunities. I am addresssing this problem by purchasing a second battery and AC charger. Those were the only problems preventing me from rating the camera as a five star.

Nice features for a grandma!

By

from Alaska

Comments about Sony Cyber-Shot 18.2 Megapixel Silver Digital Camera:

This is a very nice camera. Love it's small size & light weight. It has an easy intuitive setting that gives you great focus & lighting for your pictures. The low light was the most important feature for me as we live in Alaska & it's dark most of the year. So far, there's only 1 problem that I really hate about the camera. It's all black & so are the buttons which make it hard to find the buttons when you need them. I would also like to turn off the location details for the camera files & also have the option of saving in RAW format.

Comments about Sony Cyber-Shot 18.2 Megapixel Silver Digital Camera:

My boyfriend and I were in the market looking for a great camera to replace and older one of mine for our week long vacation in the fall. The fact that this camera has 18.2 megapixels and 10x zoom exactly from the sony website for such a wonderful price caught our eye right away. That was a WOW factor for us. We still shopped around a little, but nothing could compare to the great features and the great price. After a little debating we decided this was deffantly the best camera we could find, and have read many good things about cybershots. So needless to say we are very excited and extremely pleased with our purchase!

Comments about Sony Cyber-Shot 18.2 Megapixel Silver Digital Camera:

I love this camera. I brought the WX150 with me during our Lake Tahoe vacation. I used it to shoot close ups of flowers and bugs. I used it's panoramic view mode. I took pictures of my wife riding her bike. Once we return home, I down pictures from my camera and sent them to family and friends. Everyone made comments on how great our pictures looked and thought I took them on our DSLR. We own a two year old Canon DSLR with 12.2 Megapixels. My Sony WX150 produced the same or better quality pictures as my Canon for third the price and fourth of its size and weight. My wife loved our Sony WX150 camera so much she purchased another Sony camera, DSC-HX30, for herself.

Comments about Sony Cyber-Shot 18.2 Megapixel Silver Digital Camera:

This camera is crazy, i previously owned a Carl Zeiss Lens Sony camera and was afraid to steer away from it but salesmen convinced me. I just used it at a night time concert and i was in the 50th row. literally, i was able to zoom right into the singer and see the hair on his arm. I even did a HD video from my seat and people were saying the sharpness and closeness were better than the radio station had posted using their SLR camera. I had a guy sitting next to me that had a SLR and i was zooming in more than he was. It was the best $300 dollars i could have spent on a camera. Now my husband wants one just like mine for Christmas. Its small and fits in my purse and battery life time is good. I did purchase an extra SD 16 GB just in case i run out of room. This camera has a setting for pets too, so you don't get the red eye glow. you can also plug the cord that comes with it into your tv and view your pictures.
