My old washer completely pulled a fast one on me last week. The water just started running out onto the floor and pooling. It was just too far gone to be fixed. My dear hubby showed up with this one in the bed of his truck. Assuming it was just a plain old washer, I wasn't too excited .. I asked for one without an agitator and one that I did not have to bend over to unload. I am tired of my undershirts with adjustable straps getting caught under the agitator and twisting up and ruining . Anyway, I went out to look and this bad boy was in the back of his truck and I was in shock. It is so fabulous. You do not have to set the water level because it swirls the clothes around and calls it "sensing". Then it does the water and spray. The clear lid has had me mesemerized for days... I am stuck staring at this futuristic machine . At first I was a bit intimidated, like omg I cannot operate this thing, but it is easy. It also plays a song when it is done. My dryer was purchased last year and is regular size. The salesman told my dh that it wouldn't matter because this will spin them until almost dry anyway... He was right! Dry times already shorter. My only peeve is that it takes longer to wash a load than my old one did and even the short run is 38 min. But, hey at least my clothes are actually clean now.. not just beat up by the agitator. Love it. Love the 10 yr warranty.. I wanted a new Louis bag for Mothers Day but it could never have brought me the happiness that this mother did!! Run to buy one!!

I was taken in by all the hype, positive reviews, and salesman's pitch. The "Wave Force" action sounds fantastic, and the machine is a marvel to look at with its excellently crafted finish and flashy lights on the console, but when it comes to old fashioned performance it is a complete loser. The machine is designed to use little or no hot water. According to the technical information that I unfortunately found only after I had purchased the machine, the manufacturer says that "warm" is 90 degrees or so. I was brought up to believe that warm meant somewhat greater that body temperature, like 105 to 115 degree water one uses to activate yeast, not 10 degrees below body temperature. You can try to get around this by starting out on the sanitary cycle, but then the water saving feature defeats your efforts. It normally will not put enough water in to get the cloths completely wet. If you use the water plus feature to add water after the initial fill, it will use only cold water, so if you fill the tub to a decent level it will be cold. If you are a quilter and like to soak fabric in the washer to dissolve water soluble stabilizer or dissolvable thread, you cannot do it in this washer unless you unplug it after filling the tub because after 8 minutes of inactivity the machine insists on draining the tub. I have no idea what this "feature" is for but it is infuriating. I have yet to see any Wave Force cascading water action, even though I watched a complete wash cycle. The machine will occasionally stop the agitator action and start slowly spinning the tub, but no water ever cascades over the top to be forced through the clothes by centrifugal force as the advertisement would have you believe. I have not been able to wash a load of towels without having to be there to redistribute the clothes when it goes off balance, which us usually several times in the cycle. Finally ther is the "smell" that develops in the washer after a few weeks of use, like it is growing its own culture of bacteria or mold. I would gladly pay to have this machine hauled away if I could have my old machine back. My recommendation is to buy a non-HE washer while there are still some left and keep it in good condition.

Really dislike this washer!

Comments about LG WT5101HW White Top Load Washer:
I have had this for over 2 years now and still don't like it. I guess I really made a bad and expensive mistake. It takes sooo,,,, long to wash and I really don't feel that the clothes are clean. I have had to use Downy all the time to hope that the clothes will have a nice smell
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought this washer less than 4 years ago and the computer mother board already burned out. It cost more to repair than buying a new washer.

I bought this machine 2 years ago. Often it shows unbalance. The cycles are extremely long. Often my clothes are stained. Often the clothes get tangled together a lot.
Wonderful Washer. Love the way it scenses the need

Just look how the blanket wound up at the end of the wash cycle

The washing machine always becomes unbalanced even when we take extra care to load it evenly. It doesn't balance and then goes back to rinse. The wash gets rinsed for hours. We finally have to select rinse only and this doesn't even work.

I purchased this product in 2014. In less than 2 years I have had it repaired 4x. Clothes do not come clean unless you wash it in the longer settings. Goes off balance without the loads being large. Gets moldy inside just like the front loaders. It has never been a quiet machine so to read reviews that the machine is quite no way it is not. This will be the last LG appliance I will ever buy. With a family of 5 there is no time to be waiting for the repair company & then waiting another 1-2 weeks for parts. I'm starting to think I have a lemon!
Fits KING size bedding including a comforter!

I bought this washer and matching electric dryer in early 2014 from Menards. I have never had a problem with the washer (or dryer). PREP LOAD TO AVOID ERROR: I have always been mindful about balancing the load in the basket before starting. Even the old washer my parents had since the 80's had issues with large denim loads that would cause the washer to "walk" until someone went to re-balance the load. I always make sure when I load it up to distribute the clothing evenly. I love the size since I can wash our king size bedding (including the comforter) without issues. I have even washed queen bedding and extra blankets! I actually have never had the unbalanced error stop my washer as other owners have experienced. When the basket would start to knock when I wash the bedding or towels I would go pause it, then redistribute load and start it again. This has happened maybe a couple of times since I bought it when I didn't get the load quite right when I was washing bedding. Until it got wet it was hard to tell if it was balanced right. WASH TIME: As far as the time to complete, if I'm in a hurry I will use the speed-wash cycle and adjust temp/spin. Many of the front loaders take just as long to complete, or longer from my experience. From what I've heard from family and friends who have new washers as well, they all take about the same amount of time to complete. I have not had the issues of the refiling and draining when it tries to determine the right water level, mine appears to sense the level of water necessary on the first try. My water bill is less than I had with the old washer with the 3 water levels that would overfill on small loads since the small wasn't small enough. FREQUENCY OF USE: Several times a week--more than 4 loads a week. HEAVY SOIL LAUNDRY: As far as heavily soiled clothing...I don't know how well it performs. I grew up in a family that works outside a lot and can get pretty greasy, muddy, grass-stained and grimy and I haven't tested it with those kinds of stains. As a runner I will get a little muddy from time to time and mowing the lawn/gardening puts mild dirt and grass stains on my clothes, but I make my own detergent that is safe for HE appliances since I have allergies to some of the products out there and I don't have issues. In general I'm good at getting the tough stains such as tomato, coffee, grass and blood out of clothing, so maybe more can be attributed to me rather than the washer. WHAT I WOULD CHANGE: Not much. The only bad thing I can think of is the inability to completely customize any load setting. Thus, I have to settle with tweaking the predetermined settings as much as I can. For the most part, the Prem Press/Casual and Sport Wear cycles gets me what I need. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have never had to call so I cannot comment about the diagnostic button or LG customer care quality. I hope this review helps those out there trying to decide what to get. Just remember, you can't just dump laundry in, put in detergent and start. You MUST take a few seconds to distribute the load evenly around where the agitator would be. I always make sure to spread out the load and make a hole, like a doughnut, where the agitator would be and it seems to keep me from running in and adjusting it. I can just fill, spread, add detergent, start and walk away and not come back until the end of wash signal.
