I love the fact that this stove has five burners, but I am still not able to wrap my brain around the fact that there is no burner small enough to use a small saucepan! Since the burners will not stay on if the pan is not the right size...I consider this a real "con" in it's design!Unless I am missing something in the manual, I see no way around this issue and what would have otherwise been a stellar review, gets less that five stars for this reason alone!

We are enjoying our induction cooktop, but at times there is a noise when heating that is odd. And our small pots will not work since they do not cover enough surface area of the burner to activate it, which is frustrating when you buy a large set of pots only to discover you are unable to utilize one of the frequently used sizes.

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Stainless Steel Induction Cooktop:
I have had a gas stove for the past 25+ plus years. I just moved to a new home and could not have a gas stove. I researched for the best possible cooktops and I found the KitchenAid Induction Cooktop. It is AWESOME. It cooks so fast and the heat is regulated instantly. I absolutely love it. *Note: I did have to purchase all new pots and pans because they must be stainless steel or iron in order for the cooktop to get hot. However, that was pretty nice, too, to get all new stuff! :)

Nice, just some times have noise
I live in a neighborhood with no natural gas. I've envied my kids and friends with gas cooktops as I worked with a radiant electric. No more! The rumors are true; water boils quicker; heat is instantly added or removed; and the "simmer" setting keeps food at 140 degrees! (I've never used a gas cooktop that would actually simmer). Only complaint, smallest burner is 7 inches; too large to recognize your smallest pans.

Our first induction cooktop so we're getting use to it. It looks wonderful with our black granite countertops and blends right in for a super sleek look. We did discover that our existing Calphalon Cookware isn't compatible with induction, so we'll need to replace our entire set. We're sure it will be worth it.

Not worth the money...Very Fragile
from Tipton, IN
This product is very fragile. Had a chip on the very edge and after 6 months a crack appeared making the item useless. I typically do not write reviews but we paid a lot of money for this product and when we called Customer Service, the person explained that they do not have service technicians in our area. So basically since we are still in our warranty timeframe we cannot get it serviced. Also that there are no replacement parts for these so we would need to purchase a new unit.

Fast! Easy to install!
from Tampa, FL
I replaced a 36 inch GE Profile cooktop with the KitchenAid induction cooktop. The installation was easier than I thought. This is much better than the radiant electric type. It is so fast at heating and the temperature settings are so precise it is a joy to use. You especially notice how quickly the heat drops when you turn it down from a high setting to low or simmer.
Induction, new but nice technology

We initially had tried our standard pots and pans not realizing that we needed induction ready cook ware. Once we solved this problem we were amazed at how quickly it heated things up and how safe it is to use with children around.

I have used electric cooktops for 55 years, and love the way this one goes from boil to simmer fast. Great attribute.

I bought this stove top in April, received it in June..I would never go back to the standard stove top..This induction is the best..You cook with such even heat and everything is much better..very energy sufficient.Just love it..Suggest everyone to get one..
Mother board has broke 4 times in four years
from Nashville, Tennessee
We have been without a stovetop this time going on 3 weeks. Still waiting on our Kitchenaid warranty to do something about it. It cooks great when it does cook, but a nightmare trying to get it fixed all of the time.
