This unit was purchased to replace a eight year old dishwasher that wasn't performing up to par.Noise level:After I installed this dishwasher, which was pretty painless; the first thing I did was run a test wash to check for leaks. I did this without the bottom access panel attached, because...well... I was checking for leaks. Even with this panel off it was easy to notice how much quieter it was compared to my previous model. No leaks found, so I installed the access panel & WOW! you can hardly hear this thing running while standing next to it...very impressive.Performance:Of course no matter how quiet it is, it still needs to perform. We have had it for over a month now & it has never left any item uncleaned. No pre-rinsing required; this thing really works amazingly. No soap scum on glassware, baked-on mess...goodbye, silverware comes out sparkling; it cleans just as you would expect it to.Racks:The racks are well-designed & allow oddly shaped dishes to fit without a hassle, this is assisted by the fold-down tines & adjustable upper rack. The "split & fit" silverware baskets allow you to choose where they fit best for your needs.Style:Insert your own opinion here. We purchased the white unit & I was really impressed by how "clean" uncluttered it looks, my wife thinks it looks a "bit boring"...to each his / her own.Reliability:Only time will tell.Cons:The only complaint that I have is that concave-bottomed items like some glassware & plastic bowls; do not entirely dry. Not sure if you can really blame the dishwasher here or the designer of the glassware / bowls? Even with the extra heat option selected there is still some moisture present on these particular pieces. Don't misunderstand; I'm talking dampness here not a deluge of water.Overall, I would 100% recommend this dishwasher to anyone who will listen.

When my 98' stainless steel Kenmore Elite dishwasher finally gave out, I did a lot of research to find another comparable unit. Off all the dishwasher brands out there, I found this one to have the highest overall rating and satisfaction. We've had this dishwasher for about a month now. I like the looks of the exterior and interior. But for cleaning purposes, this unit gets a rating below average. Some glassware comes out foggy and the heat settings never dry up all the water. And not talking about just a few drops of water. On plastic items, using the tough scrub setting, doesn't thoroughly clean and leaves a sticky film behind. We've tried all the different setting combinations and get the same results.I sure wish I could have just replaced my old unit. But even that brand now has terrible ratings/reviews. I've noticed that the quality of appliances have really gone down hill over the years. And many of the repair and salesman I have spoken to have said the same thing.I would like to change this unit out, but given the price I paid and the other reviews of the higher priced units, this will have to do.

Comments about Maytag Black Jetclean Plus Built-In Dishwasher:
Within two years of purchasing this dishwasher, the buttons no longer function. However, this is not an issue that would be covered by the very limited warranty. After doing some internet searches on this issue, it appears that I am not alone. I cannot recommend this product.

We have just recently purchased this Maytag stainless steel dishwasher. It has been working extremely well, and we are beyond pleased. We have been wanting to purchase a Maytag product for some time now, as we have heard some great reviews about them. This dishwasher is the first of what we hope will be the start of a new Maytag family for us.

I bought this machine 2 1/2 years ago. I really liked the machine until it completely died the other night. No light, no cycles, , nothing. For the cost of the repair job I could almost buy a new machine. A $700 machine should not die in 2 1/2 years. I bought maytag expecting a quality product. I will never maytag again. Now I am looking for a new dishwasher.

I bought this dishwasher new in August of 2012. Tonight this dishwasher has died. It will not power up, no lights, nothing...Dead. I paid $700 for this expecting to get quality. Never again will I buy a Maytag product.

I never have "rejects" with my new dishwasher. I am very happy with it. And, the Maytag rebate helped.
Everything comes out so clean - never have to pre-rinse!

I bought this 3 months ago, and have been very happy with it. Dishes, pots, and pans need no pre-rinsing. It's unbelievably quiet. Can't even hear it running unless you are right up next to it.
Very quiet. Almost too quiet (see below)
from Calgary Alberta
Almost too many options for washing, drying, etc... Confusing. However, rack is pratical for efficienl stacking, and water spraying during cycles is gentle enough not turn over any container, which then fill up with water and spill all over the place when I slide out the rack, contrairy to my old appliance. Wish also there were more visual/audio indicators on the progress of wash cycles
Make real Maytag appliances again not fake Whirlpools
Maytag was a great company. If you bought a Maytag washer or dryer or dishwasher they lasted forever. This is the third Maytag dishwasher I have bought since the take over of Whirlpool and not one of them have been without problems. Plus I also have a Maytag front loader washer and it has been nothing but trouble. The only one that has worked is my 25 year old Maytag dryer pre-Whirlpool. My latest issue is a Maytag dishwasher which is less than a year old and it will not run. Back in the old days you could by Maytag and the appliances never wore out. Now they break down and have issues.
CHECK THE RACKS!!!
from Tucson, AZ
I gave my older almond Maytag dishwasher to my tenant as she already had the range I replaced last year. I stayed with Maytag because my old appliances have held up well. This dishwasher is quiet as advertised but I can't figure out how the engineers/designers planned on placing dishes in racks. My old dishwasher held 9X13 cake pans, turntable from micro, several sizes of bowls, frying pans, sauce pans, cereal/soup bowls and any glass in my cabinets. This unit doesn't accommodate any style cereal bowl, i.e. nesting type, straight sides, or deep ones. Doesn't hold tumblers on outside row of top rack; they fall over when moving rack out or in and when cereal bowls or other items are in center it is difficult to put glasses only place they do fit. . Only one row of tines fold down on bottom so can't put pans or large bowls anywhere if other dishes are in bottom. I find myself washing many, many more items by hand because of poor design. Everything other than plates, flat items, need to be placed in laying down so holds much less than old one. Wouldn't you think that designers would go gather every type of dish, pot, pan, glass and storage item possible and maybe, just for fun, bring in a few "housepersons" (let's be pc here) to see if a days worth of stuff will fit conveniently. Oh, one more thing, install info indicated it would fit in area 34 3/4" high. Not so easily. It must be a little taller than previous 2 dishwasher that have been in this area. With the new tall tub design, why was it necessary to make the new ones so much taller? First time we have ever had a problem with size. We have had rental and several homes of our own and have installed many dishwashers without a problem before.
Great dishwasher !
I was looking to upgrade my appliances and this dishwasher was the main deciding factor in my purchase of the Maytag brand. I spent about a month researching dishwashers and the Maytag® Jetclean® Plus was consistently at the top of the list. I can tell you I was not disappointed. My dishes are always clean, there is no residue, it drys very well and is so quiet I have to stop and listen carefully to know if it's running. All the cleaning features are great but honestly, I push "autoclean" and forget about it. The adjustable top rack is a nice addition and the large capacity great. I really can't think of a negative thing to say about this dishwasher.
