When looking for a new washing machine we read the reviews but we put a LOT more consideration in what family and friends advised. Maytag products came up as the primo! Next we were advised against front loads. Yeah, we know some live by them but people kept telling us they (in general) leak and smell. So the awesome topload model Bravos is what we chose in the steel gray. Beautiful color and cant wait to get the matching dryer. So, performance is a bit iffy as design allows the clothing to get twisted and turned. Several items have actually come out ripped and that is exasperating. One daughter put an expensive bra in (which I admonished her for doing anyway) and this beast split it right at the front...right in two. It seems this problem is worst when a bit more heavier loaded down, which is why we WANTED a large machine though for our family of 6. Overall the washer cleans well, it has an amazing capacity and is so quiet we can't tell when it's running sometime. *I've actually complained to the kids they were not doing their laundry chores because I could not hear it running! LOL!

I replaced my old W/D with these in April 2013. The capacity is awesome and I love the drop in basket as opposed to the front loaders. I do not have any of the front loader problems of mold/musty smell, etc. I do leave the top open right after a load just in case, especially since it isn't in the way. Only three complaints so far. 1. With large loads, mainly blankets/quilts when it gets off balance makes a terrible noise and will error out until I even out the load. I don't wash those things that often so not that big of a deal. 2. The cup you pour fabric softener doesn't get out all of the fabric softener and leaves a buildup that I need to wipe out. Not that big of a deal but just annoying. 3. I noticed that because there is not agitator and it is "Energy and Water Efficient" that some clothes don't come out as clean as they should or could. This is the biggest problem that I'm not sure how this can be remedied. Overall its not a bad purchase just wish these three things were addressed.

Cleanest clothes EVER!! BUT BUT
Only a few years old, paid enough for the Maytag, couldn't afford warranty, shouldn't need a warranty with Maytag!! Now almost every load i get F51 error code! I only wash tiny loads now, and have to keep emptying till about 5 small items in, and use raise drain & spin cycle , So i i have to keep restarting machine over & over again, and don't have close to $400.00 to fix it! VERY COSTLY!!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

3 yr old washer
I absolutely loved this machine until it just quit the other day with an error F54 and a number of problems that could be. 10 year warranty didn't help with anything. Have been redirected etc and still not fixed. Very very upset
Worst washer we ever purchased

My wife and I purchased this washer after we renovated our home in 2012. Within the first year we started receiving a f51 error code on the washer. After a week wait for the repair man and a lil googling, I found out it was the stator bolt backing out the stator. Now every other month, I have to tighten the stator bolt. Fast forward to today, the washer sounds like a jet taking off in the wash room. Now it's the tub bearing shaft has gone bad. Our last washer was a average whirlpool washer that lasted ten years. We spent double plus more on this MAYTAG washer and it lasted 4 years. Definitely not a good purchase.
DON'T BUY ONE!!!

I bought Maytag washer and dryers all my life. Never had a problem with any of them. I had no intentions of buying any other brand, including when I purchased the Maytag Bravos XL Power System about a year or two ago. NEVER AGAIN! I have a problem with the bleach not dispensing when I put it on white wash setting. I called Maytag who told me and the repairman that I must have the "fabric softener" button on when doing white wash. It was! After the repairman was here once and I thought the problem was fixed... it wasn't. I called Maytag back again and they ordered the repairman again BUT cancelled his visit here. The problem was never resolved and I continually have to watch the bleach dispenser to see if the bleach went down. Many times it doesn't, sometimes it does. Just last week the dispenser was not checked when another load of laundry was washed and wow!, I have new clothes that actually have been bleached in spots! Even after the bleach is dispensed and I do another load of laundry, sometimes I find clothes that have large spots of white on them, indicating to me that all the bleach was never dispensed while doing the white load. (And no, I don't overfill the dispenser. Quite the opposite, as I use the concentrated bleach). Livid, I am. The bleach dispenser is not the only problem though. When I take the clothes out after they are supposedly washed, sometimes, like another review says, they have dry spots, which indicates to me that water never touched it. And when the clothes are removed they are so tangled, (and I mean really tangled!), that some of the clothes are actually stretched. It's like taking knots out of clothes. Another problem is the water... that we're supposed to be saving. Where? I have to click on extra rinse just to get the clothes rinsed good and the washer has to be cleaned with special cleaners and full tanks of water. My advice...DON"T BUY IT!!!
I wouldn't even give this thing a star, but it made me. WARNING: Wait about a year and you will have horrible issues with this washer. Thank goodness mine is under warranty. I have had mine 1.5 years and on my 3rd service call. Had to wait 3 weeks to get it serviced. Service man said don't ever buy these they are know for having problems and to get ready to keep having them.

Our washer is less than 2.5 years old and already needs to have the main bearing replaced. The cost for repair is almost as much as buying a new appliance. Unacceptable. Maytag has lost our business.
we have the washer for about 18 month. Good thing we purchased extended warranty because the repair man is here right now and replaced a bearing and tub. So much for your commercial technology

We've had the Xl washer and dryer for almost two years now and they are still going strong! Great features, the clothes come out clean and time spent in the dryer is reduced due to the awesome spin cycle from the washer, clothes come out of the washer almost dry!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Big Mistake-Don't buy one
from Phoenix, AZ, United States
I brought this 17 months ago and thought it was a good washer. I liked the idea that it could hold larger loads and clean with less water. After 15 months I noticed it was getting louder in the spin cycle. It has gotten so loud that I now have to have it repaired. The repair person advised this is a common and expensive problem with this washer. I owned one other washer (not Maytag) that lasted 30 years and never needed a repair. I'm very disappointed and after reading others reviews on this washer, I wished I would have seen them sooner. I wouldn't have purchased it. I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The adage "The loneliest repair guy" doesn't seem to apply to Maytag any longer.
