I use this in a 400 square foot room with equipment that generates heat and must be cool. Our main AC unit was down and needed this in a pinch and will use in the future as a backup. It works for what we wanted it but I would note that you will need to get a larger BTU in a protable than you may need for a window unit in the same space. Buy the big one. Consider the extra warranty just for the peace of mind.

It's pretty big

Can't decide if I like the portable AC units better than window units. Take up more room space but don't have to wrestle like a alligator into window. The remote seems possessed as you hit fan speed and it changes the operational mode instead. All functions on remote activate alternative functions. Batteries might be dying from factory. It gets cold but seems not as effective as same BTU window units. This model has never needed to be manually drained yet. Very good quality construction compared to some other portable units I looked at. Overall happy with purchase.
