We love this toaster. KitchenAid is good solid quality. The convenience of being able to toast 1 to 4 slices of toast or bagels works great for us. It's normally just two of us at home, but when we have our Granddaughter over, then we can make toast to be ready for everyone at the same time. It's nice too that there's a beep that tells you when the toast is ready in case you're not in the kitchen at the moment.

I bought this product because of the other reviews people have left and was left unsatisfied along with the bulkiness and the counter space it uses it has some issues. After about two days of using it the right side toast ejector stopped working leaving you to have to manually get your toast out of the toaster. It also cooks inefficient, you can cook a piece of bread on the number 3 setting one day and then the next day number three is either too light looking untasted at all or burnt dark brown. The consistency is way off and for a hundred bucks it should be not designed to perform like this. Very unhappy with its performance..........

I really do like this toaster and its features, and I especially love how it looks on the counter. The drawback is that it doesn't toast both sides of the toast equally when toasting only one slice - one side is always lighter than the other, regardless of which slot is used, and the slots do not indicate whether a single slice should go in one slot or the other. I like a double toaster since my husband likes his toast lighter than I like; just wish I could find one that toasts both sides the same.

Its works that's all that matters to me

Wish the "Empty" trays were in the front of toaster , rather than the rear.Other than that, a Great Toaster
I bought this in early December, 2015. It works fine for toasting bread. I use a light whole wheat bread (Sara Lee) and the toaster burns it a little on setting 2, a little undone at setting 1. I wish the settings worked better for less dense bread.
Wonderful gift from my sister but...
My sister got this for me as a Christmas/housewarming gift because we used our little 2 slice toaster to death almost with the amount of frozen waffles and toast we consume in a week in our house. Anyway, when I started to use this toaster I noticed that there was no indicator on the knobs themselves so I would not know how toasted I would be getting something. I ended up having to make a guess and draw indicators on there with permanent marker. I would recommend to KitchenAid that they put an indicator line or something on the knobs to help people out.

This is the best toaster we have ever had. It's easy to use and clean. Everyone at my house loves it.
Doesn't toast well!
I received this toaster for a Christmas gift and I am very unhappy with it. My old toaster was a Kitchenaid and it was a very good toaster but this one doesn't toast evenly. One side of the toast is always toasted more than the other side. Also it has to be turned down to the very bottom level not to burn.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Lift levers break
from Boston, MA
We have the previous model of this toaster (KMT422) and the handles on the levers broke off (as others have experienced). We ordered new handles and they broke off as well. Now Kitchen Aid is sending another set of handles and the service person claims that this is the first time she has heard of this. I doubt they will work any better since there is such small contact area between the handles and the levers. Certainly need a new design.
