I wasn't sold on the idea of a high efficiency washer since ones I used at other people's houses did not seem to clean well, but this one does! I was even able to take my family's muddy clothes (sneakers and all) and they came out like brand new. In fact my old sneakers were so clean I couldn't tell them from my new ones. All of the features are wonderful, but I especially like the option to have more water added for dirtier heavy loads. The two things I dislike are that I can't open the washer to throw in a dropped sock without pausing it, and the noise it makes when running (the laundry room is right near my office and I can hear it when I work).

I brought this washing machine less than a year and I hate it! I have had nothing but trouble with it! It takes over an hour to wash a load of clothes! We are a family of five so it takes ALL DAY to wash ! The lock feature I HATE!! It suppose to take only THREE seconds to unlock but that is not true! It takes about 30 seconds to unlock if I'm lucky! It does not wash our clothes well and the clothes come out with more wrinkles than they had going in! This washer is very loud! Now I am having trouble with the washer rinsing our clothes! I regret spending the money on this machine and I am SO MAD that I may have to buy another one because of all the trouble I am having! Washing clothes should not be this hard and this machine should have lasted longer and worked better for what I paid! Very dissappointed!!!! And how can this be energy saving when it takes over an hour to wash 1 batch of clothes?

I have had this washer just short of 3 years and the bearings have gone in the motor and it is being junked. I can't believe the poor quality of this appliance! My last 2 washers, both Whirlpool brands, lasted 10 plus years with no repairs. As the old saying goes, they don't make 'em like they used to.

bought this 3 years ago and it just went bad. Lid lock broke and husband spent 3 years trying to fix. Too much $ to get fixed. Hate the lid lock feature. From what I've read, so do others and it seems to be an issue with all washers that have it. I do not have children so do not need that feature. Will not buy another Whirlpool. Customer service technician on phone wasn't all that helpful either. Just wanted to sell me an extended warranty that was basically the same price as a new washer.

This is junk.Tangles clothes, sloshes water onto the floor, leaves long grease streaks on clothes. Too many problems to repair. No wonder they discontinued it. Only 3 years old and junk! !!

I bought this washer 2 years ago and just started having a huge problem with the springs. The xtra roll action apparently does not roll. I also bought a 5 year extended warranty from whom I having been having a huge problem getting this item repaired. It's not the first whirlpool appliance I have had problems with, usually a fridge, but I have been a Whirlpool loyal purchaser for over 25 years. I can guarantee I will be choosing another manufacturer in the future. Also hated the locking top.

Finally a machine that set's the water level for you! It's so easy to just load your clothes and detergent knowing you will have the right amount of water!

Not my favorite washer

I've had this washer for almost 3 years now. I haven't been super impressed with the washer. I previously had a slightly older whirlpool washer that I had for about the same length of time before it started to go on the fritz, so rather than pay $250 to have that one fixed, I figured I'd upgrade. This new one is certainly different. It takes considerably longer to do a load of laundry than did the older one, and I HATE how you can' have the lid open when filling. I recently encountered an issue with the washer to where the "balancing" did not start, it just made a hum noise. I cancelled the load and restarted wtih the same result. On the 3rd attempt, I moved the backet, unpluged the washer and plugged it back in... That time it worked, but now I'm doubting it's reliablity. I fully expect this washer to need repair within the next couple months, lasting approximately as long as the previous one did. My washer before the last two, also a whirlpool, lasted 10 years.. Not a fan of the "newer" products and their reliance on 'boards' and other electronics that are apt to fail.

We bought this washer with a dryer at Lowe's. After about two months it stopped working and would get stuck on wash and wouldn't fill. Whirlpool sent a repair man a couple days later and of course it worked for them. He cleared the filter and it's worked fine since. They cover it for a year so we're not too worried.
I just bought this and the machine is great. The only thing is I wish it was bigger to do comforters.
okay, gets the job done.

the washing machine has a "lock lid" feature that is a little annoying; you must stop the machine once its started to add any extra items. I could understand the feature being utilized during the spin cycle but not at the beginning. I don't know if it is only my machine, but the noise it makes during the wash cycle sounds like grinding gears. Thank goodness I have it warranted. Also, it automatically drains if you fill it and forget to close the lid.
