Sharp White Plasmacluster Ion Air Purifier - FP-A80UW

This unit is in my bedroom where the efficiency and relative quiet are greatly appreciated. I like the ability to turn off the larger lights as well as the plasma ion portion. The turbo button to put it in high mode for 15 minutes is a great feature as it then reverts to the previous setting automatically. I normally keep it set at medium speed at night and it's just right with good speed and efficiency but not overly obtrusive in noise. So far, I don't really use the automatic mode as it seems to simply stay on low which seems somewhat wimpy in relative air flow. If Sharp had a larger capacity model for 1000+ square foot rooms, I would have bought it rather than the Airpura. The Airpura has great capacity but a very limited feature set.

Our 5 year old has dust mite and other environmental allergies. She would always wake up stuffy and congested. From the very first night using the Sharp we noticed a difference. Less congestion, better sleep, sleeps longer, and stays more pleasant during the day. Air not very "fresh" smelling but I knew that probably would be the case considering very little carbon and reading the other reviews. Otherwise top notch and well worth the money.

Sharp is a good name. Works better with humidy in the air.

I bought several of the air purifier. It is quiet and very useful.

The sharp plasmacluster HEPA filter is great. You have noticible results within the first few days of use. I had read that the high end ($1k+ models) boast that "their sensors are so delicate that they can detect a fart" and subsequently clean the air of them. I am impressed that this filter can do the same. Depending on the quality of air, when set to auto, it will adjust the rate of air flow accordingly. It is whisper quiet on low, and when it switches to medium it is still very quiet. Only does it become noticable when on high. I will buy at least one additional unit for home use. My decision was based on this model after careful consideration of my needs, and from additional input from air purifier power which had positives comments toward the unit and it's plasmacluster technology. The air never feels closed in or musty, but always natural.

After wife developed some pretty severe allergies, I did a fair amount of research on air purifiers. The first lesson is that you get what you pay for, and only purifiers that move air through physical filters can get the job done. After that, it is volume of air, carbon pre-filters,HEPA cleansing filter, loudness and energy consumption. For the price, this Sharp unit seemed to stand out in all of these categories. It does not disappoint, but in the end all any air purifier can do is clean up the air in a room -- if you open the windows to get outside air, you have to start over. If you go outside to garden, it won't remove the pollen already in your lungs. So, while these can help with your sleeping, etc., they may or may not be enough to really conquer allergies, etc. depending on your individual lifestyle. In short, this is a fine product, but it is what it is.

I bought an old house and put this in the basement on high for a few weeks. It cleaned out that musty smell and really helped make it less humid down there (and hopefully got rid of any asbestos!). Now I have it on Auto and just press the 15-minute quick clean button every time I'm down there.

It's whisper quiet on low, but on high it is actually fairly noisy. This is fine though, since it does it's job so well.

I use this air purifier in a room that has five birds. I usually leave the plasma option off. But I turn it on about once a week and it quickly gets rid of odors. The unit is almost silent on low, and not loud at all on medium.

Great little unit. Only had it three weeks so not sure about lifespan, etc.
So far, so good. Couldn't be quieter.

Ammount of dust accumulation in my place has decreased significantly. I also purchased a groupWeston MicroAirScreen which is a filter you place in your window.
