Big Punch in a Little Package
This compact dryer packs a punch. It can sense how wet your clothes are, so it doesn't over dry. It replaced a larger dryer that was part of a one-piece stackable unit.Read complete review
This compact dryer packs a punch. It can sense how wet your clothes are, so it doesn't over dry. It replaced a larger dryer that was part of a one-piece stackable unit. While my old unit may have had a larger capacity, it was not very efficient. And I did not have as many choices on cycles. This unit gives me more space to move around in my laundry room and it is quieter than the old unit.If you do not have more than 3 people in your household, I would definitely recommend using this compact unit.

I purchased this unit 4 months ago, but finally received it 2 months ago. My selections were limited to dryers less than 27" wide and non-condensing. This was the option I found. Of course, the very same Whirlpool model was being sold, but the only difference is the label on the machine. In the end, I didn't know whether my machine would come with a Maytag or Whirlpool label. Didn't really matter to me.The things that DO matter to me are where this machine falls very short.* The lint trap is clumsy and hard to clean;* Power remains on even when the cycle has ended. So, theoretically, the red light could be illuminating for weeks if you mistakenly left a load of laundry in the dryer before leaving for vacation. Why?* Whirlpool/Maytag might say the reason for leaving the light on is so the machine can continue to tumble to prevent wrinkling if clothes are left after the buzzer buzzes. But that would be a misrepresentation because this dryer wrinkles everything that is not synthetic! Even very small loads of cotton items with plenty of room to tumble and removed immediately when just damp dried come out more wrinkled than I've ever known my clothes could get.* And the buzzer . . . plenty of other reviewers have bemoaned the fact that the buzzer cannot be turned off. It seems a silly feature to omit, even on a low-end unit. However, from my perspective, the buzzer is not the issue. I never even hear it. It is very quiet compared to the grinding, churning sound that accompanies the loudest appliance I have ever heard. My unit is in my basement. My home office in two floors up from the basement. Yet, I hear the constant grrrrrrrrrrrrr sound of this dryer through it's entire cycle. I can't hear the buzzer in my upstairs office - I know the dryer is done b/c of the lack of annoying grinding from the basement dryer.Despite being small, this dryer can dry a Queen sized comforter. Nothing else can be in the load with it, but still it does one thing I need it to do.There are few vented, compact dryers on the market. It's disappointing that this is not a good option. While I say I wouldn't buy it again, I'm not even sure if I have a choice of something better that is compact and vented. It's hard to put clothes out on the line in the winter in WI.

I have been using this appliance for about a month. I am happy with it for the most part. Some fabrics come out quite wrinkled, even on iron or damp dry (used wrinkle control cycle on washer.

Solid Compact Machine
from San Francisco
Bought this a few months ago to replace a compact stacked unit by GE. The new Maytag unit is stackable but can also be used separately, which makes it MUCH easier to get in and out of a tight space. It has decent capacity for such a small machine and operates quietly. The switchgear feels a bit cheap, but it dries well.

Had nothing but problems with this dryer - had the service guy out many times and I think he replaced everything on the dryer that he could. Poor quality especially for a Maytag brand product. Bought it to put on my main floor as I can no longer go down to basement to do laundry
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
2nd New Dryer Not Working on Timed Dry. 3rd Dryer on the Way
By Dryer Nightmare
from Seattle WA
I bought Maytag because they promote themselves as "The Dependability People" and am so disappointed. Brand new dryer would not heat on the timed dry cycle. They replaced with another unit and it has the same issue. The other cycles heat fine so we know it's hooked up properly. Also, what is with a dryer having a separate power on/off switch? The retailer will not return the unit because it doesn't work so now I'm stuck with this dryer and just getting replacement after replacement. What a nightmare.

no match to the washer
from margaretville, NY
I bought the washer and dryer as a set this august. when it was delivered I noticed the washer was whiter then the dryer and the side panel (which you can see in my utility room) does not match, the dryer has a flat panel the washer is raised. when I called to complain I was told that's the way it is and that they are to different appliances. Then why was it sold as a set. I was also told there is nothing that can be done. very disappointed with maytag.

The Maytag dryer/ washer combo was a perfect replacement for our 15-year old, energy-efficient Bosch combo. So far so good. No problems. Thanks for making washer/ dryer units that still fit is small places.
excellent apartment dryer
from south harwich , MA
I replaced a 7 year old dryer of different brand which had electronic controls which gave out.The Maytag is much better - simple controls and fast drying.I love it.
from Mercer Island
The dryer works fine, perhaps a bit slower than I am use to, but the noise!!! Come on MAYTAG, such a revered name in the appliance industry and putting out a sub par product due to lack of insulation. MAYTAG you can do better and should do better!!!
Simple to use!

Great compact dryer
from San Francisco, CA
We bought this a couple months ago to replace an all-in-one unit that broke down, and we're very pleased. The unit has great capacity for a compact dryer, and it is quiet and efficient.
