Big Punch in a Little Package
This compact dryer packs a punch. It can sense how wet your clothes are, so it doesn't over dry. It replaced a larger dryer that was part of a one-piece stackable unit.Read complete review
This compact dryer packs a punch. It can sense how wet your clothes are, so it doesn't over dry. It replaced a larger dryer that was part of a one-piece stackable unit. While my old unit may have had a larger capacity, it was not very efficient. And I did not have as many choices on cycles. This unit gives me more space to move around in my laundry room and it is quieter than the old unit.If you do not have more than 3 people in your household, I would definitely recommend using this compact unit.

I purchased this unit 4 months ago, but finally received it 2 months ago. My selections were limited to dryers less than 27" wide and non-condensing. This was the option I found. Of course, the very same Whirlpool model was being sold, but the only difference is the label on the machine. In the end, I didn't know whether my machine would come with a Maytag or Whirlpool label. Didn't really matter to me.The things that DO matter to me are where this machine falls very short.* The lint trap is clumsy and hard to clean;* Power remains on even when the cycle has ended. So, theoretically, the red light could be illuminating for weeks if you mistakenly left a load of laundry in the dryer before leaving for vacation. Why?* Whirlpool/Maytag might say the reason for leaving the light on is so the machine can continue to tumble to prevent wrinkling if clothes are left after the buzzer buzzes. But that would be a misrepresentation because this dryer wrinkles everything that is not synthetic! Even very small loads of cotton items with plenty of room to tumble and removed immediately when just damp dried come out more wrinkled than I've ever known my clothes could get.* And the buzzer . . . plenty of other reviewers have bemoaned the fact that the buzzer cannot be turned off. It seems a silly feature to omit, even on a low-end unit. However, from my perspective, the buzzer is not the issue. I never even hear it. It is very quiet compared to the grinding, churning sound that accompanies the loudest appliance I have ever heard. My unit is in my basement. My home office in two floors up from the basement. Yet, I hear the constant grrrrrrrrrrrrr sound of this dryer through it's entire cycle. I can't hear the buzzer in my upstairs office - I know the dryer is done b/c of the lack of annoying grinding from the basement dryer.Despite being small, this dryer can dry a Queen sized comforter. Nothing else can be in the load with it, but still it does one thing I need it to do.There are few vented, compact dryers on the market. It's disappointing that this is not a good option. While I say I wouldn't buy it again, I'm not even sure if I have a choice of something better that is compact and vented. It's hard to put clothes out on the line in the winter in WI.

Great compact dryer
from San Francisco, CA
We bought this a couple months ago to replace an all-in-one unit that broke down, and we're very pleased. The unit has great capacity for a compact dryer, and it is quiet and efficient.

I bought this machine 5 months ago. I am very unhappy. The light always stays on even when the cycle has finished. Is a very bad machine. So much money for a piece of garbage/ I am getting rid of it and never buy this brand nor this design.

I bought this set, washer and dryer, the smallest set since our condo didn't have enough space. The washer is terrible, the noise is horrible, the spinning is the most horrible one I ever experienced since the clothes come out wet so you have to do a second spinning/ I hate this machine. I want to sell them and buy the regular stackable set.
Broke within 2 months
from Chicago, IL
This dryer stopped working within 2 months of the purchase date. It is covered under warranty, but it has been over a month since I contacted Maytag regarding this issue and the dryer is still not fixed. This process has involved multiple phone calls to Maytag, no-shows by service providers, and even being told that I needed to contact an electrician because my outlet was broken (I paid for an electrician to come out only to be told that the outlet does, in fact, work). I am extremely disappointed both in the product and in Maytag's customer service.

Since we have it in our master bath. It is fairly quiet.
Awful Machine, Waste of Time and Money
from Denver, CO, United States
Because of the size of my laundry room, I had very limited options for my dryer. During its second drying cycle, the second day I had it, the heating element went out. Instead of replacing it, Maytag said they'd repair it. They sent someone out at the end of the week. A week later, the control panel went out. Now, I have to wait another week for the part to come in, and have to take another day off work. This dryer is junk and I won't dare to spend a dime on another Maytag in the future. I'd say how much I dislike the buzzer not being able to turn off, but I seldom here it since the mchine has been broken most of the time I've had it.

We purchased this product in February and are pleased with both its performance and features. I wish it were more quiet, though.
Maytag 3.8 cubic ft compact electric dryer

I am very happy with the dryer! It actually dries my queen size sheets in one cycle!
from Raleigh, NC, United States
I normally, line dry my clothes. This is for back up only and for fluffing clothes. The dryer works great. My only complaint is that it does not have a pure heat free cycle for fluffing. I have a small space for my washer/dryer combination and it has to stack. This is perfect for that! We have small loads so this size also works.
