Good performance as over-the-range microwave hood combo

Bought this unit to replace previous one that failed after 3-1/2 years due to shorted magnetron. This new Whirlpool microwave hood combo has a more powerful exhaust fan but is actually quieter than the previous one. The microwave oven cavity is large enough (depth & width, but especially height) to accept large casserole dishes and the turntable can be turned off or on easily as needed. The oven has plenty of power and heats evenly. Have not tried the sensor cook feature but have used the other features and all are easy to select with the touch-pad. The kitchen timer can run along with the cook timer, which is a nice feature. Installation was straightforward but definitely requires two people with at least moderate strength to lift and steady the unit during the installation process. Directions were complete but definitely recommend reading instructions all the way through before starting installation. Be sure to set exhaust fan discharge in the correct orientation for your range (into room, back or top exhaust to vent pipe) before proceeding. Did not have to install supplied mounting bracket or drill new holes in overhead cabinet since this was a direct drop-in for older unit that failed. Overall very satisfied with this unit after six months of use.

Purchased because of Bisque color

This Micro replaced previous that lasted 1 year 9 months.(same specs,different serial number,otherwise identical)I choose to buy a Whirlpool again for 2 reasons. Color,my kitchen appliances are ALL bisque(few manufacturers offer)and I thought if I stayed with the same company I might get lucky and NOT have to drill another set of holes in the bottom of my nice cabinets to mount it or different holes in the drywall for the support bracket. My micro is definately not overused,so when the Magnetron blew (literally sparks and smoke)it was all over. 2to5 year warrantee on THAT part but it also takes out other important components that cost more to fix that to buy a new micro so... duh!?#$ get a new one. Just hope I get at least 2 years out of this one and I'll consider myself ahead of the game(or scam)and just keep a jar for loose change in the cabinet above for the NEXT replacement.I also prefer a smooth surface to wipe clean and Whirlpool choose to advertise their product with a tacky "hood ornament like" raised name plate that WILL collect dust and grime (gas cooking)and will require an old tooth brush to keep clean! Yeah, I'll have that tacky silver and gold paint on those letters cleaned off in no time...FWI,my first micro was a Litton that lasted 20 years. Got rid of ONLY because of loose door hinge.Testiment of my appliance care and use.

Disappointed that the fan doesn't do anything when I have pots on the stove. The front of the microwave gets covered with condensation, steam from front burners don't go anywhere near the fan. I had to replace the light twice in two months and it is not easy to get to, and it's not very bright.

I bought this micro at the same time I bought convection range and refrigerator. There was nothing wrong with the one I replaced I thought. The new technology in this one is amazing! You pick an item from the menu and it automaticly times the cooking so it is perfectly cooked. Love it and you will too.

Love my new microwave! Has all the features I need and performs very well. My favorite is the auto defrost. My old microwave failed with that. The meat was half frozen, half cooked, and I had to rotate the package three times during the cycle. My Whirlpool outperforms it big time!! Set it and it's defrosted to perfection without doing anything extra. I would highly recommend this product and I am considering replacing all of my other appliances with Whirlpool!
