This is the first front loader washer I have purchased. After way more due diligence than any one person should ever do for an appliance, I decided to replace my energy hog top loader with this LG front loader. I was hesitant to do so, but in the end just did it. I’ve read horror stories with all of the brands out there, but seemed to read way more positive reviews on LG than any other brand. I bought this model before there were any reviews out there on it taking a risk, but I am glad I did! I have the mind of an engineer, and have probably spent too much time studying how it works. The amount of water it uses for the amount of laundry is minimal. I did a full load of towels and it used about 28 gallons of water in total. To do the same amount of towels in my top loader (double rinse), I would have had to do 2 loads and would have used about 130 gallons. I read reviews about the spin cycle shaking too much. My machine is on a concrete floor, so it might be different on a wood floor, but it doesn’t shake at all. The one thing that I did not read in any of the reviews for any of the front loaders is that if you have particularly high water pressure, these washers will cause your pipes to hammer (or bang throughout the house). I can’t imagine that would be very good for the plumbing. You’ll need to get something called a Mini-Rester Water Hammer Arrester. They are very inexpensive and solve the hammering problem. I have extremely few and extremely minor dislikes about this machine. I’ll list my likes and dislikes below and you can judge for yourself. Likes: • I can fit double the laundry in this machine than I could my top loader. I can fill it up completely and it still cleans everything in it. Pillows, blankets, queen size comforter, over a dozen pair of jeans; no problem! • If I dropped a sock on the way down the stairs, I can still go back and put it in after the machine has started. If you hit the pause button, the door will unlock for you. The only times it will not unlock is if it senses that the water is too hot (on the sanitary and allergiene cycles) or if the water level is too high, which it is not on most cycles. • This machine has a cycle for every load possible! And, options like steam that you can add to the cycle. I especially like the Sanitary and Allergiene cycles for my sheets because I have allergies. Yes, they take a while, but it’s worth it. And I can fit 4 sets of queen sheets in there at a time so in the end, I don’t think it’s unreasonable. • Most cycles are pretty fast â€" no longer or not much longer than the top loader. It adjusts the amount of time depending on the load size too. A full load of towels might take an hour, but you’re washing double the amount you could in the top loader and the dry time is cut down because it extracts most of the water in the final spin. Most loads seem to take around 45 minutes. • Very fast spin speeds for things going into the dryer which cuts down dry time and energy used significantly. I tend to hang my dress shirts and pants to dry, so I use a slower spin speed which also does a good job without wrinkling my clothes. • Extremely energy efficient and quiet! It adjusts the amount of water and time depending on the load size. Because it has a direct drive motor, the only sound it makes is the sound of the laundry crashing through the water, which is very minimal. Spinning has a slight hum, but if you close the door to your laundry room, you’ll never know its running. Dislikes (however insignificant): • The washer door is not reversible, so it has to go on the left. Seems like most all front loaders are like this, but it’s annoying because my laundry area is set up for the washer to be on the right. At least they made the drain hose and power cord long enough to accommodate this. • I don’t like the tinted door. If you want to see what’s going on inside, you’ll need a flashlight. • You’ll need to buy the Water Hammer Arrestor mentioned above if you have high water pressure. • I really wish it had a drain & spin with the option of adding a rinse rather than a rinse & spin, but not a big deal. • If you want the hot and warm water settings to actually use hot and warm water, you’ll need to draw the hot water from the water heater to the washer. Because it uses so little water, by the time the hot water reaches the washer, it’s already half full so what you really get is cooler water than expected. If you have a laundry tub, as I do, you just have to run the hot water in the sink until hot water comes out so that the cold water in the pipes aren’t fed into the washer. If you don’t have a sink, you could always use the pre-wash feature to solve the problem. I suppose this is an issue with all front loaders. • I think the price for the machine is not far out of line, but the price for the drawer underneath is outrageous. I opted to not get it because of that. Would be nice to have it.

This is a terrible washing machine. I was so excited to buy it. It seemed like it had so many features and wash settings. To my great dismay, it has proved to be just the opposite. It has destroyed all my clothes... Even the most indestructible towels I own have been shredded and beaten to a pulp. Even at delicate or hand wash settings, my t shirts and delicate clothes have been destroyed. I had a technician come to inspect it, and have followed all wash instructions re: proper detergent amounts etc... to no avail. I am so sorry that I purchased this washer. It is a terrible product and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Comments about LG Turbo Wash White Front Loading Washer:
Attention to details. For example, a lint trap so you don't need those metal strainers that attach to the drain hose and have to be replaced. So if you drain your washer to a sink in stead of the drain line, no worries. It even lets you know when it's time to clean the filter. Another example, a clean cycle for the washer drum itself. Also a pre wash dispenser compartment. And it gets better as you discover how to use it.

Good Feature Set & Value
from Chicago, IL
We've had this washer about a month, replacing an 8 year old Bosch that had ongoing drainage problems. This LG has a great feature set, is quiet, and cleans clothes well. Many adjustable features, but the programs have worked for me. There is a sanitary allergen cycle that is just exceptional for our workout wear. Listed longer cycle times as a con, but I guess they're really not as I'm generally not doing wash on an immediate need basis.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was timely & within a couple days of purchase. The installer was knowlegable. Do wish ABT could have narrower delivery windows instead of half days.

The turbo feature works! I thought it was all hype, as it turns out the clothes are done quickly and with no compromise on cleaning. Large capacity. Only had the unit for about a month. So far so good.
I bought this Washing Machine to replace a Maytag 4000 which broke down in 2 1/2 years. The Repair cost was equal to a new machine, therefore decided to buy a new one. Being using this machine for 2 month and happy with it so far. much quiter than other machine even during spin drying. Yes it does consume very less water during washing but the clothes come out clean..

Never liked doing laundry until now. Love using the steam on all the towels and gym clothes. Makes life so much easier. Love all the different options.
Best bang for your buck!

I cannot say enough about this washer. It is great. All the features are wonderful and best of all; it genuinely cleans the dirtiest of clothes without destroying the fabric. My wife always brags about having all the laundry done now! If you shop around a bit in the major appliance stores, you may be able to save a couple hundred bucks, especially if you go with white. Good luck and happy washing!

It is hard to get used to not seeing any water in the wash machine but the clothes seem to come out clean and smell clean. I especially like the steam cycle for sheets and towels. The only thing I don't like is that on a low spin, clothes are left pretty damp but on a medium spin, knits that I don't want to dry in the dryer are left with too many wrinkles.
Packed with ton of features yet simple to use

Bought another more expensive name-brand front load washer but clothes were not throughout clean . Discussed the problem with friends and they all recomended LG washer . Returned washer and bought the LG - Problems solved and LG washs clothes faster too . We couldn't be more happy . And the 10 years warranty on the direct drive is icing on the cake .
So far so good
Have had this washer for over a month and am very pleased overall with its performance. I just have two suggestions regarding features: (1) a light inside the drum would be helpful and (2) the signal end song should be louder--my laundry is in the basement, so I cannot hear the song even with the basement door open. I used to have a top loader and am impressed with the smaller amount of water to clean the clothes--so much more efficient! Am looking forward to washing my king-sized quilts.
so far so good...

well I've had my washer for about a month now. And so far so good. Although I wouldn't expect anything to go wrong with a product that is new within the 1st month. The washer is quiet, which is nice. The signal end chime that goes off when the washer is done, is nice sounding, (better than the standard buzzer# but it's not loud enough. Even on the highest setting, still not loud enough. Also wish that this washer had the "freshcare" cycle, at least I think that is what it is called), when the washer is done, it will tumble the clothes/drum for up to a certain amount of time, keeps the clothes smelling fresher if you are not able to transfer the clothes to the dryer right away. I often throw a load in when I go to bed at night or when I walk out the door, so it could be hours b/f I am able to get the clothes into the dryer. The "normal" load is 10min. longer than my previous frontend load washer. and if you have a large load it's usually around the 1hr 10/15min. mark, which I significally longer than previous washer. and it does take a while for the sensors to determine how long the washtime is. which is handy if your planning on doing all your laundry that day, so you can watch the clock. Overall I do like my washer. even though it does take quite a while to wash a large load #which I can do instead of doing 2 loads#, it's still less time than it would of taken me to wash 2 loads in my previous frontend loader.
