After months of researching the available unitized systems and reading all the comments, I chose this unit (GE-GTUN27EMWW). The dimensions of the area built for it are 41 inches deep and 34.5 inches wide. This is plenty of area for this unit with extra room for easy access to the water shut-off valve. Since the area was complete before I chose the unit, I ended up putting the plumbing on the wrong side. When looking at the front, the water hook-ups on the unit are in the back on the right side. My water valves are on the left side but the hoses are plenty long enough to reach. I have 6 inches of dead space behind the unit to give the dryer vent enough room to go through a wall on the right. You only need a dryer outlet for this as both washer and dryer are powered by the same cord. This unit comes assembled so make sure the doorways are wide enough. I had to widen the RO of the bathroom doorway to get the unit in. It was a kitchen ornament for a few days....ooops. The washer sounds are weird if you are used to the old-type machines. Don't panic, the clicking and pauses are normal. The water sound in the drum is also normal. The unit uses a liquid ring to keep it balanced so, no, there isn't old water trapped in it like I thought at first. I am very happy with my choice. It is a nice-looking unit, it runs quietly, and does a great job. I love the dial selections and placement, (bottom of dryer instead of way up top) although I set it once and now just hit the start button for the washer. You may be surprised at the capacity. I forewarned my son about how this unit will be different from our set in the basement and that the load must be limited. There was no need for that, this unit holds as much if not more than our regular-sized set. I love the dryer and have only lost 1 button but I wish there was something that held the door open. I leveled the unit but the natural sway of the door puts it right above my head when I am taking the clothes out of the washer. Watch your head! My clothes come out wrinkle-free and dried nicely using the timed dry set at 45-50 minutes. I haven't tried the rest of the settings available yet. I use regular detergent only. The unit has places for bleach and fabric softener if you use those. The lint trap for the dryer is the easiest to clean as I have ever seen. I don't even have to take the screen out. I just scoop the lint out with my hand which prevents lint dust from flying all over the bathroom. So glad I ditched the front loaders and got this unit. :)

I've had the machine over 2 months now. Here is my opinion on it: The wash tub is large (quite deep), which is nice since it holds more than my last machine. The only downside is I have to lean way in to get the clothes out. I don't like the knocking sounds that occur when the cycle is finished. The machine (both washer & dryer) is also very noisy while operating. I like having the controls in the middle of the machine vs at the top. All-in-all, the machine does what I need it to do, and it is the right size and style for my condo. I recommend it as long as potential buyers understand there is more than average noise during operation. I eventually got used to it.

Great Space Maker Laundry Unit
from Southeastern Colorado
Comments about GE White Stack Washer With Electric Dryer:
We love our little washer and dryer. It does all our laundry in one day; which is what we are use to even though it is smaller loads they are still substantially the same size as what we did before just have to adjust the settings and water level. This is what is causing me to register the unit and write this review, The machine works fantastic and we are so pleased that is distresses me to the max that I need warranty work within just a few months of new instillation. But alas we will be scheduling a service consult today for service work on the washer because the water pump is making such a noise it is hird throughout the apartment but only on the wash spin rinse segment. I will edit when repairs are complete.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Lasted less than 2 yrs

Less than 2 years old, we had our first issue. Unit started leaking from the bottom of the tub. We had a technician look at the leak and stated there was an issue with the tub seal or bearing motor. Stated this was going to be a “big repair and usually sees these issues in older units (10+ yrs)… may be worth getting a new one.

Good capacity in a small space
from Columbus, OH, United States
We just moved into an apartment in a retirement community. This combo has been perfect for our needs - even big enough to do queen-size sheets and cases in one load. This was also the only combo that I could find that has two rinse cycles.

This washer/dryer is all I expected and more. Lots of wash cycles and the dryer is so huge it dries items really well - no more wrinkled clothes when they come out and bone dry to the touch. I can't say enough!!!
It's Very Sensitive!
This unit was the only oneof it's kind I could find. If you mess with it too much, it will stop the cycle and has to be started over. Sometimes the water won't siphon out of the tub so the hose has to be tugged. It's very picky about the weights of clothes put together in a load. If it's not just right (like if a shirt and pants are put in together) it gets unbalanced easily. Overall, I guess it's just ok.
Would not complete cycle(less than 6 mo old)

Great Capacity for a Space Saver
from New Albany, IN, United States
I like the larger capacities on the washer and dryer. It is much larger than my previous space saver.
