After months of researching the available unitized systems and reading all the comments, I chose this unit (GE-GTUN27EMWW). The dimensions of the area built for it are 41 inches deep and 34.5 inches wide. This is plenty of area for this unit with extra room for easy access to the water shut-off valve. Since the area was complete before I chose the unit, I ended up putting the plumbing on the wrong side. When looking at the front, the water hook-ups on the unit are in the back on the right side. My water valves are on the left side but the hoses are plenty long enough to reach. I have 6 inches of dead space behind the unit to give the dryer vent enough room to go through a wall on the right. You only need a dryer outlet for this as both washer and dryer are powered by the same cord. This unit comes assembled so make sure the doorways are wide enough. I had to widen the RO of the bathroom doorway to get the unit in. It was a kitchen ornament for a few days....ooops. The washer sounds are weird if you are used to the old-type machines. Don't panic, the clicking and pauses are normal. The water sound in the drum is also normal. The unit uses a liquid ring to keep it balanced so, no, there isn't old water trapped in it like I thought at first. I am very happy with my choice. It is a nice-looking unit, it runs quietly, and does a great job. I love the dial selections and placement, (bottom of dryer instead of way up top) although I set it once and now just hit the start button for the washer. You may be surprised at the capacity. I forewarned my son about how this unit will be different from our set in the basement and that the load must be limited. There was no need for that, this unit holds as much if not more than our regular-sized set. I love the dryer and have only lost 1 button but I wish there was something that held the door open. I leveled the unit but the natural sway of the door puts it right above my head when I am taking the clothes out of the washer. Watch your head! My clothes come out wrinkle-free and dried nicely using the timed dry set at 45-50 minutes. I haven't tried the rest of the settings available yet. I use regular detergent only. The unit has places for bleach and fabric softener if you use those. The lint trap for the dryer is the easiest to clean as I have ever seen. I don't even have to take the screen out. I just scoop the lint out with my hand which prevents lint dust from flying all over the bathroom. So glad I ditched the front loaders and got this unit. :)

I've had the machine over 2 months now. Here is my opinion on it: The wash tub is large (quite deep), which is nice since it holds more than my last machine. The only downside is I have to lean way in to get the clothes out. I don't like the knocking sounds that occur when the cycle is finished. The machine (both washer & dryer) is also very noisy while operating. I like having the controls in the middle of the machine vs at the top. All-in-all, the machine does what I need it to do, and it is the right size and style for my condo. I recommend it as long as potential buyers understand there is more than average noise during operation. I eventually got used to it.

Good selection of wash and dry selection
from Bowie, MD, United States
Does an excellent of cleaning and drying cloths. Love the stainless steel wash drum. Not happy there is no signal buzzer for completion of drying cycle. A bit tight with dryer protruding out over washer to remove cleaned cloths. Slanted front edge of washer takes away extra surface area to set down detergent bottle, etc.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The loudest Washer and Dryer I've ever used
from Lynnwood, WA
The washer is the loudest machine I've ever used. Difficult to use at all times of the day. The dryer doesn't have a sensor to turn off when the clothes are dry. My clothes could be dry after 10 minutes and it'll keep running for the entire cycle. It uses too much energy.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
GE stackable washer/ dryer moel# GTUU275Emww
Great washer/ dryer, much bigger capacity then the last one I had, with the same dimension.
Washer makes really weird noises
from Philadelphia, PA, United States
Although it oscillates like I've never heard, it does seem to clean and dry our clothes just fine. But it makes STRANGE noises, every time.

Problem with achieving maximum water level
from Vero Beach, FL
I bought this for my winter condo in Fla. It was professionally installed & seems to be satisfactory except for not filling the washer tub to the highest level. The water reaches to below the 2nd row of perforations in the tub. The water sources are completely opened and the washer water control level is set at highest. Is anyone knows how to correct this problem, I welcome your suggestions!
It's a good set. Does the job!
The washer does a good job of washing the clothes but is a bit noisy. It makes a loud clicking noise instead of the smooth swishing sound I'm used to. The tub is deep but only fills halfway. The dryer doesn't have buzzer to let you know it's done and the door swings shut; I have to prop it open with a broom to keep it from hitting me in the head. Other than that I'm quite happy with this product.

Very noisy for a brand new washer. The sensor level doesn't work all the time.

Comments about GE White Stack Washer With Electric Dryer:
I bought this to replace side-by-side front-loading machines. I love having a top-loading washer again! It's easy to toss in another item if needed and the clothes have much less moisture in them at the end of the wash cycle. Also, these machines have more capacity than the full-sized front-loaders they replaced.
