After months of researching the available unitized systems and reading all the comments, I chose this unit (GE-GTUN27EMWW). The dimensions of the area built for it are 41 inches deep and 34.5 inches wide. This is plenty of area for this unit with extra room for easy access to the water shut-off valve. Since the area was complete before I chose the unit, I ended up putting the plumbing on the wrong side. When looking at the front, the water hook-ups on the unit are in the back on the right side. My water valves are on the left side but the hoses are plenty long enough to reach. I have 6 inches of dead space behind the unit to give the dryer vent enough room to go through a wall on the right. You only need a dryer outlet for this as both washer and dryer are powered by the same cord. This unit comes assembled so make sure the doorways are wide enough. I had to widen the RO of the bathroom doorway to get the unit in. It was a kitchen ornament for a few days....ooops. The washer sounds are weird if you are used to the old-type machines. Don't panic, the clicking and pauses are normal. The water sound in the drum is also normal. The unit uses a liquid ring to keep it balanced so, no, there isn't old water trapped in it like I thought at first. I am very happy with my choice. It is a nice-looking unit, it runs quietly, and does a great job. I love the dial selections and placement, (bottom of dryer instead of way up top) although I set it once and now just hit the start button for the washer. You may be surprised at the capacity. I forewarned my son about how this unit will be different from our set in the basement and that the load must be limited. There was no need for that, this unit holds as much if not more than our regular-sized set. I love the dryer and have only lost 1 button but I wish there was something that held the door open. I leveled the unit but the natural sway of the door puts it right above my head when I am taking the clothes out of the washer. Watch your head! My clothes come out wrinkle-free and dried nicely using the timed dry set at 45-50 minutes. I haven't tried the rest of the settings available yet. I use regular detergent only. The unit has places for bleach and fabric softener if you use those. The lint trap for the dryer is the easiest to clean as I have ever seen. I don't even have to take the screen out. I just scoop the lint out with my hand which prevents lint dust from flying all over the bathroom. So glad I ditched the front loaders and got this unit. :)

I've had the machine over 2 months now. Here is my opinion on it: The wash tub is large (quite deep), which is nice since it holds more than my last machine. The only downside is I have to lean way in to get the clothes out. I don't like the knocking sounds that occur when the cycle is finished. The machine (both washer & dryer) is also very noisy while operating. I like having the controls in the middle of the machine vs at the top. All-in-all, the machine does what I need it to do, and it is the right size and style for my condo. I recommend it as long as potential buyers understand there is more than average noise during operation. I eventually got used to it.

After a lot of research, I chose this model and am so happy that I did! The large stainless drum holds a huge load of laundry. The variety of settings are helpful & accurate. The quality of clothes coming out f the wash is great!

PURCHASED THE UNIT FOR MY LAKE HOUSE, PERFECT SIZE FOR MY NEEDS, LARGER LOAD SIZE THAN I ANTICIPATED, QUIETER THAN EXPECTED ALSO.

Needed washer and dryer in one unit due to new construction on house. This unit has excellent capacity in washer and dryer. It is a louder than separate washer and dryer I had before but not a deal breaker. Have washed and dried about 20 loads and am satisfied. It fits our new space perfectly.
I purchased this model because the description states that the washer has a stainless steel drum. Upon delivery I found that this is not totally true. The sides of the drum are stainless, however, the bottom of the drum is plastic. This does not affect the operation of the machine, it's just a little misleading. Also, there was a crack in this plastic piece, so we had to wait for a new one to arrive. If the drum were fully stainless this would not have happened. Otherwise the machine works well. It is a little loud, but we have got used to that.
Great for limited area.

Bought as a replacement after remodeling laundry room, we added a utility sink necessitating a stacked washer and dryer. Wife preferred a single unit over the ones you can stack.

Comments about GE White Stack Washer With Electric Dryer:
I have the larger capacity washer and the drum is almost too deep. It does a nice job with an extra large load, but to get the wet clothes out I have to put my arm in down to the armpit and turn my head to the side. It would not be good for someone with short arms and who is short. I wish the washing machine were quieter. It makes all sorts of odd clicks during the cycle and the agitation seems to happen in spurts rather than a continuous agitation like all other washing machines I have ever owned. Other than that, it cleans well and I am putting faith in the fact that it is more water and energy efficient than my 18 year old prior machine. We did not have an option for a non-stacking washer dryer so this was the only one that would fit in the space we have for it. I would recommend it if it is the only option as I think GE is a good product.

Purchased in August, went down to our condo in October, dryer was making a loud noise during spin cycle even with out clothes in it. Service man said he was waiting on part. Have renters in it for month of February, said dryer was not working, again waiting on part. Any idea what it could be?

Great washer and dryer

Tons of space! And do nice sized loads for a stackable washer/dryer. Will need to empty lint catcher every use but it's easy enough.
