This oven replaces a previous, much older model of the same type. So I knew it would be noisy, but this new one is even noisier then the old one. It sounds like the wind noise you hear when there is a hurricane outside and the winds force their way thru the window sides. Takes me back to my youth in Florida.Preheating takes about 5 minutes longer than previously. Apparently a result of the covered element on the bottom. Tho once preheated it does a very good job of properly cooking.Convection is better than before as the additional element (I think surrounding the convection fan) roasts food quickly and evenly.Don't ever remove a door, we had to and getting it back on created way more work and effort than it's worth. Call the repair man! And be sure to use the enclosed grommets for screwing the unit to the cabinet if you do a self install, or the porcelain can get damaged.Overall, good quality oven, cooks well, easy to use. Too noisy and slow to preheat,

The oven vents at the bottom into the kitchen. Oven was venting at high temperatures. Oven was checked out - installation perfect, thermostat perfect, seals perfect. Before oven even finished preheating, 128 degree hot air was pouring into kitchen. This is the design, and there was nothing that could be fixed. Apparently the venting temperature is within an acceptable range to Whirlpool and the oven works according to Whirlpool specs. Bottom line: I am left with an oven that I consider unusable unless I am willing to have my kitchen heat up to 128 degrees or more. This problem voids any good features. BUYER BEWARE! THERE IS NO RECOURSE! I HAVE TRIED!

Comments about Whirlpool Black Electric Double Wall Oven:
Be ready to think something is wrong because as long as this oven is on, the fan whistles and I mean loudly! Repairman said it's supposed to!! What's up with that??!! Anyway, first time the bottom oven was turned on, it heated to 10 degrees cooler than set. The second time it heated to 25 degrees too hot. Repairman coming next week. Also, the preheat is in the top of each oven, so if the oven hasn't reached the set temp & you put something in, it will burn as the oven temp increases to its set temp.

Whirpool disappoints, again
from Orlando, FL
I'll start positive, it cooks well when it works. It does take a while to cool off after use, but it bakes/broils good. I'm not an avid cook, so after about 6 months and 5 uses, I cooked a frozen pizza per the instructions and after 10 minutes, the oven torched it to a total crisp. Glad I was in the kitchen to catch the smoke. The heat was so extreme, it created metal shards at the bottom of the oven. After contacting Whirlpool, they swiftly replaced the entire oven unit. A few months later, I used the clean cycle and upon completion, the entire oven cut off. Called Whirlpool back and they dispatched a technician who diagnosed a blown fuse. 2 weeks later, I'm up and running again...fast forward 1 1/2 years. Silly me, I used the self-clean option and guess what? Yup, another blown fuse. Because I'm out of warranty, this time, the Whirlpool Rep offers to sell me the exact same model for 40-50% of MSRP, which brought it down to regular price at any local merchants brand new and "on sale". Sigh. The Supervisor at Whirlpool gave me another option, which is to pay $289 for an extended warranty, then a repair person can come back out to replace the fuse (again). After an amicable debate, I declined both "generous" offers for a Whirlpool known issue. To add insult to injury, I politely told her I was going to escalate my issue since I'm not the problem, Whirlpool is. Whirlpool Management, if you're reading this, I'm SOO disappointed in your oven and other appliances. I don't know what has happened over the years, but you are no longer considered a reliable, quality appliance as once before. Pull up reviews on the internet and see for yourself. When did you stop caring? You wonder how companies go out of business? You're following the blue print to guarantee you'll be next from a long term perspective. Come back to quality and longevity Whirlpool before you keep loosing the majority of your customers. Simply put, I'm asking you to care again-quality control!
Annoying high pitched cooling fan
By Old Professor

The oven has a cooling fan that runs all the time the oven is on and afterwards until it cools down. This fan is making a high pitched sound that is driving me crazy. It makes me want to get out of the kitchen. I spoke to the dealer and called Whirlpool. They both said there was nothing that they could do. This has got to be a defect in my particular oven, but it looks like I'm stuck with it for the next 10 to 20 years.
Great double oven
After moving, my oven in our "new to us" house stopped working. We were able to replace a single oven and microwave with this double oven with convection. I have baked several cakes, cup cakes, and dinners in this oven. It works great. Very happy with my purcahse.

We remodeled our kitchen in 2006. Put in stainless steel products, including a Whirlpool built in electric convection oven. Model GBD307. We have had three service calls for the control panel. The first two service calls they replaced a fuse. The third service call they replaced the entire control panel. This oven also has self cleaning. Every time we use the self cleaning feature, something goes wrong with the control panel. Well, it has happened for a fourth time. I'm getting sick of this. Maybe we should have bought "Kenmore!"
Fantastic investment, again..with Mcrowave,Dishwasher too!

I have had this oven for two weeks, my apple tree was loaded and I have been making apple pies, cakes and cookies non stop. It bakes evenly, is roomy and temperature is accurate .
Great convection feature
By Robin the teacher
This product was included in my new home package and I couldn't be happier! Double ovens come in handy with all the different items you need to cook at the same time, but the convection oven has been a lifesaver. It speeds up cooking time and you get the quality of a baked product. The most important quality is accurate temperature....it is spot on! I was surprised that when you turn on the light both oven lights go on. It would be better to have each on it's own switch.

Replaced a 35 year old Whirlpool double wall oven that was in the home when we purchased. A number of reviews about this oven complained about the amount of noise the convection fan makes. Our unit hardly makes any noise at all. It fit our wall cutout perfectly. We are very pleased.
