When we needed to replace our older dishwasher we chose LG because we were satisfied with other LG products. This model dishwasher operates very quietly and it does a great job. The technology is different from older dishwashers. For example, one must use a drying agent that is released at the proper time from the door mounted dispenser. Previously, we used a product that was an all-in-one detergent and drying agent. It worked well for the old dishwasher, but it doesn’t work well at all for the new LG dishwasher. When using the all-in-one product in the LG model, the dishes were damp (some were wet) at the end of the wash/dry cycle. However, using the sample drying agent furnished with the dishwasher yielded spotless, dry dishes. The upper rack proved a bit awkward to use. There is plenty of space and the racks are adjustable, but we found it difficult to load our cereal bowls, coffee mugs and drinking glasses without rendering a lot of adjacent space unusable. We generally don’t wash a lot of place settings with wine glasses, tea cups and saucers of small uniform sizes. Instead, we wash a few dishes of various sizes and shapes where some unusable space isn’t a big problem. But for larger loads it is a challenge to find enough usable space in this model. Non sufficient useable space and awkward fitting tines were not a problem with older dishwashers we’ve used, but they are my main complaint about this product. On the other hand we really like the silverware tray. It’s large and easy to use. This model has extra clearance between the lower and upper rack. Apparently, this allows space for washing taller pots and pans. However, the door lies open just a few inches off the floor. If one has difficulty bending down several extra inches, and you don’t need to wash taller pots and pans, this model may not be the best choice for you. The model offers a variety of cycles that can be selected for flexibility in washing, rinsing and drying. The “Quick and Dry option works well for us, but there are enough other choices to meet most any need. The cycle times seem rather long, but the end result is worth the wait. The dishes look great. The dishwasher chimes a short tune when it’s finished, but we’d also like it to have an indicator light that stays on when dishes are clean. Overall, we are pleased with our purchase. It is completely satisfactory for our everyday use and with its stylish good looks and very quiet operation it’s a keeper.

Difficult to load as the adjustable racks keep falling over. Mostly have to lay things flat as racks fall over so substantially reduces the load size. I always rinse my dishes prior to loading in washer, still, they are not consistently clean coming out of the machine. This is true even if I use the highest settings. Even the shortest clean times are long…not so energy efficient. When I use liquid brand name dishwasher detergent it does not completely rinse off of dishes and I have to manually rinse and dry them. It also leaves ugly streaks in washer tub. This even with using a rinse product When I tried the cubes of dishwasher detergent they did not completely dissolve and left a granules on my dishes. The only claim that this machine lives up to is that it is very quiet compare to my old washer that it replaced. All in all I wish I had my old dishwasher back. I’d rather put up with the noise and have clean dishes. BTW: When I purchased this dishwasher I also purchased LG top of the line Laundry pair. I love these appliances and so far they are performing as claimed.

Poor folding down tines design

Bottom rack tines do not stay up. Looks like same poor design exists even today on current models.

From day one, I started to experience "IE" error code on this machine, after several tech visits, they replaced several parts tat allowed water to properly flow thru a sensor in the machine and this problem went away. As of this week, the flow valve began to leak, unknown to me... until I began to see my wood floor buckling due to the water under it.... the flow valve is in the front left of the unit underneath and it is made of plastic, this unit met it's life cycle only after 3 years of use.
(LDF 7551ST) Bottom dishes won't clean

I've had this dishwasher (LDF 7551ST) since 9/2013. I should have returned it the first month it was installed, but I was foolishly optimist and thought I could work through the problems. I have to pre-wash everything that goes into the machine. Most of the time I just hand wash the dishes to avoid the bother. I have an error code that does not show up anywhere. It is two characters long and the first character looks like an unfinished character, almost as if part of the light display is burned out. The second character looks like a lower case letter h. At some point I'll see another dishwasher for sell and I'll buy it. One thing for sure, it will not be a LG brand.
Worst dishwasher ever

I hate this dishwasher, it is the biggest disappointment! We have owned other LG items and have always been pleased with them, which is why we got this one. The bottom rack constantly comes off track when moving in or out, the rack tines constantly fall down on both lower and bottom rack, the plates don't always stand up and plates fall forward into next plate. I have to run it on the heavy duty cycle, and even then things don't come out clean. The soap dispenser needs to be a bit larger, I use the pod type detergent that came with the dishwasher, and have a hard time getting them in and closing the door. The filter needs to be cleaned after every load, and still dishes aren't always clean, directions say to scrape dishes of large food particles prior to loading, I end up having to practically pre washing everything prior to washing. And it takes 2 hours and 20 minutes for the cycle. And dishes come out damp. The only positive thing I have to say about this washer is that it is quiet. At this point I am so unhappy with this washer that I doubt I will ever buy another LG product!

Had almost 3 years, Never have I owned a product with so much problems. We keep the filter cleaned and wash off our dishes. But keep on getting a OE Error time to time. Repairmen came out 4 times to fix it. Thank goodness for Online help. Been able to repair myself.
Fine if you want a new dishwasher every few years.
OE error message indicating drain pump problem was frequent after about a year. Just before the 2 year mark, drain pump went out and OE message was constant. Replaced with BRAND NEW OEM part #ABQ73503002 myself (not rocket science, 2 clamps and a plug), which lasted about 2 months, now OE message again and cannot get cycle to run. Will be buying a new dishwasher, and putting my LG at the curb with a large sign: DO NOT BUY LG DISHWASHER - PIECE OF JUNK.

This is the worst dishwasher I have ever had. Takes three hours and does not get the dishes clean. We have had it worked on four times in two years. Wish I had returned it when it had the first problem
Dead On Arrival!

I've owned this unit over two years. The first one came and left the same hour. Ok, I thought it was a fluke but the problems kept coming. The unit hasn't worked since before Christmas and there is no solution in sight. First a sensor, nope. Then a loose wire, nope. Now a new board. I have an extended warranty and I'm still thinking about trashing it. This unit is definitely a lemon!

Horrible Dishwasher. The racks are not strong enough; larger plates do not stand up - also does not clean as well as my prior dishwashers
