Our GE from 1987 died on us; and we sought this Whirpool based on Whirlpool's quality, lower incidence of repairs, and a particular design aspect: its back had a flat ledge top that I could put things on like my kitchen timer, my salt and pepper shakers, etc. I’m not at all a fan of the “bulbous appliance look that has been in for maybe the past 8 years or so; so I’m grateful Whirlpool had this model which is a little more squared off and has this practical ledge. We were also happy to have a coil top option in white; we know stainless steel is good-looking but find it is too hard to keep neat and clean-looking. We have had the stove for 2 months and so far it is performing well. Some improvements I would prefer: (1) The dials for the burners have no tick marks to gauge what heat level I’m at; so if I make oatmeal and I know it won’t boil over at the 10:30 position, but it will at the 10:00 position, it is hard for me to set that without tick marks so I can see exactly where I am. (2) If I take apart the burner for cleaning, the front right burner requires putting the coil edge in a tiny notch, and I have trouble catching that notch. If I don’t catch it, the coil gets tilted, so the pan contents get tilted, which is not good for sautéing, etc. Other than that, we are happy with this stove!

Lots of problems
We bought this stove 3 years ago and have had to replace 2 on/off burner switches and cannot keep the broiler working.

Comments about Whirlpool 30" White Freestanding Electric Range:
Bought this 3 months ago. We had a Jenn-Air and it starting to breakdown, one system after another. This unit had the control components up top and away frrom the oven heat source. Much better design. Keeps them from breaking down from the heat rising from the oven and baking the internals.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Nice even cooking

I have had this range for approx. 2.5 months and it is perfect
from Providence, RI
Range replaces a Whirlpool stove that lasted 25 years I like several of the new features of my new one. The buzzer alerts me when the oven has preheated to the preset temperature. The keep warm feature is helpful also. The stovetop burners seem easy to keep clean with one-piece drip pans. I don't know if I will get 25 years out of this one, but so far so good.

Replaced our old range with this model. Seems to be well built and pre-heats quickly!

I purchased my range in November and an really happy I chose this particular one. The oven cooks just like my old one. Nothing fancy, but a good value for the purchase price and easy to clean.

This oven came dented and with a drawer that would not pull out or push in without getting a hernia! When the replacement arrived it too was dented and had the same drawer issue! I am a bit disappointed in this product. In fairness, the elements do heat up quickly as does the oven but it is a poorly built appliance.

Coils are so much better than glass top for accurate cooking
from Fairhope, AL, United States
If you cant get gas, then the next best thing is coil electric stove top. We moved into a home that had been renovated with new appliances, one of which was a smooth top stove. Had it for less than 2 years and had to buy a new coil stove. Whirlpool is our preferred brand, and this new stove is perfect. Only thing is, I had to purchase black porcelain drip pans to make it look more modern. Otherwise, great stove/oven.

Basic stove with that works well
from Irving, TX, United States
I selected this stove because it had conventional top elements that allows me to use all types of cookware. The oven heats even and appears to maintain an accurate temperature. I have baked a number of pies and loaves of bread and they have turned out perfect. The sheet metal is a bit thin and flimsy, but everything is these days. I like the window in the door. I was concerned it would not keep the heat in as well, but I think it does just as well or better as my old self-cleaning Hot Point that did not have a window.
