Our GE from 1987 died on us; and we sought this Whirpool based on Whirlpool's quality, lower incidence of repairs, and a particular design aspect: its back had a flat ledge top that I could put things on like my kitchen timer, my salt and pepper shakers, etc. I’m not at all a fan of the “bulbous appliance look that has been in for maybe the past 8 years or so; so I’m grateful Whirlpool had this model which is a little more squared off and has this practical ledge. We were also happy to have a coil top option in white; we know stainless steel is good-looking but find it is too hard to keep neat and clean-looking. We have had the stove for 2 months and so far it is performing well. Some improvements I would prefer: (1) The dials for the burners have no tick marks to gauge what heat level I’m at; so if I make oatmeal and I know it won’t boil over at the 10:30 position, but it will at the 10:00 position, it is hard for me to set that without tick marks so I can see exactly where I am. (2) If I take apart the burner for cleaning, the front right burner requires putting the coil edge in a tiny notch, and I have trouble catching that notch. If I don’t catch it, the coil gets tilted, so the pan contents get tilted, which is not good for sautéing, etc. Other than that, we are happy with this stove!

Lots of problems
We bought this stove 3 years ago and have had to replace 2 on/off burner switches and cannot keep the broiler working.

For 6 years I lived with a smooth top (not Whirlpool) range and hated it from day 1! Trying to keep the top looking new was impossible. Why would anyone want one!! So, even with the old range working fine, it finally went to the dump. This new range is perfect and cleans up like a brand new machine no matter how messy the cooking gets. The large oven window is great. Controls, functions, appearance are all world class. You can get fancy as you want but for my needs, this was perfect! Now if Whirlpool only made a panini!
It's just OK

The large appliances today are built cheaply. This electric range is no different. If something is boiling on the stove top some of the other coils will rattle. If you put something in the middle of the stove top it sounds hollow. What really gets me ANGRY is the drip pans under the coils are rusting out!!!! I've only had this appliance for a few weeks!!!!!! Don't you think making this out of a noncorrosive material would be great? Something like aluminum or stainless. But rusting is completely unacceptable. The good side: The range has great ideas for the oven and the coils are easy to replace. It took a while to get used to baking in it. I like the top-back of the stove. It doesn't stick out. When we do our canning, it won't be in our way. We do a lot of canning. Over all, for the price we paid the appliance needs some issues addresses that I've already stated. But the stove is a good stove. Keep up the good work!!
Great basic range

This is a good easy to use basic electric range. Does everything that you would expect a stove to do. If you don't need a lot of fancy frills this is the stove for you. The only slight downside is the sturdiness of the oven racks. They seem to flex so I hope they will not bend under the weight of my holiday turkey.
