My main focus of this review is the Induction top. I have always cooked on gas ranges (45 + years). The home we just moved into is all electric and I have been having a horrible time adapting. We looked into getting gas installed but there was just no easy way to have it done. So I started researching Induction ranges. Took me a while to locate one at a store to actually look at. It wasn't hooked up to try out but at least I could get a feel for how it would work. Took a gamble and bought it. I have to say it is amazing. It definitely heats up quick. I can put 2 1/2 quarts of tap water in a 3 quart pan and it will be a rolling boil in just over 3 minutes. The number system for heat adjustments is very easy to use and understand. I think the biggest drawback to purchasing one is that even the salesmen are not very educated in there use. When I inquired if I could use my cast iron pans on it, I got a very definitive "NO" but when I made him drag out the owners manual to verify that, it stated it was OK to use them. He was shocked. I've learned: * They do make noise on the lower settings. You hear the magnet pulse. No big deal, makes a light clicking sound. * The surface does get hot under the pan. But you can put your hand within a 1/2" from the pan and the surface of the range is still cool. * I have a flat bottomed Wok and it works wonderfully on this range. * It is amazingly easy to clean * It is incredibly responsive to heat adjustments. * The kitchen stays cooler. * The stove top meals cook quicker, so I am spending less time in the kitchen. Drawbacks, only a few: * I have not found a non-stick skillet that will work on it. No biggie to me * You can't use a 2 burner grill pan. * A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If you or a family member has a pacemaker, consult with your doctor or the manufacture before you purchase. The oven functions nicely, I still prefer a gas oven, but I have no complaints with this one. I really love the interior finish on the oven and how easy it is to clean. Love the large viewing window and the split rack is a nice feature. The convection feature is easy to use.

I really love everything about this induction range except the Aqua Lift oven cleaning method. It does not clean the oven at all. It basically is like the old ovens that you manually clean. That's a real deal breaker. You can't even use oven cleaner, it's just good old fashioned get down on your knees and use your own elbow grease to clean. No way am I going to do this. I traded this model in for one that as the REAL self-clean cycle. I have yet to receive it so can't say whether it will self-clean as described.

    Great for the price

    By Kyle88

I've had this for a couple months now. This isn't going to be some top of the line induction stove, but it also costs far less than those models. My only real complaints are the touch screen on the stove top beeps at you if you set something on it, and when you're cooking things on high the buzzing can be a bit annoying. These are both super small rare annoyances to I am overall quite happy with it. This thing can boil water amazingly fast and has saved me a ton of time spent waiting for things to heat up on my old electric stove. Haven't used the oven much, but seems to work fine. No complaints there.

    love this stove!

We bought this about 6 months ago and I love it. The instant heat and reduction of heat is great, I haven't boiled anything over which is amazing for me! I also love the power boost that allows me to boil water faster than the microwave.

Aqua-lift self clean is a joke

    By KellieBowling

    from Melbourne, FL, United States

We bought this in August 2012. I've tried the aqua lift self cleaner a few times, and it NEVER works. I end up resorting to old-fashioned elbow grease. The "rapid pre-heat" isn't very rapid at all....25 minutes to pre-heat to 425 degrees F. There's nothing rapid about that.

    Wife loves it.

    By kb42

    from Utah

Bought and installed it a couple of weeks ago. My wife is immediately a convert to the induction cooktop, and loves the high-capacity, three-shelf convection oven. She's also really pleased with the warming drawer, though I don't think we've used it yet. We worried about reports of induction "buzzing" with cookware, and when we first put a pot of water on to boil (to see how quickly it would boil. Answer: very quickly), we heard the pot buzzing a bit, but it hasn't bothered us at all when actually cooking. When we first turned on the oven, we got a bit of odor as initial coatings burned off. We decided to run a cleaning cycle before cooking any food, and that cleared it up immediately. The only issues we have are that the controls do pick up fingerprints easily, and when we set metal pans on the stovetop controls, the stove begins beeping periodically at us (I think this is the "unrecognized touch" beep, but I haven't investigated further). Oh, and we can't use our cheap, nearly worn-out non-stick egg pans with the induction surface. We'll have to pick up a better non-stick pan for eggs. Love it, would buy again. One other note, it came with no cord or plug, just connections for either a 3- or 4-wire cord.

Love Induction cooktop / Hate AquaLift Self-Clean Oven which doesn't clean; it's USELESS!

    By MiamiJanet

    from Miami, FL, United States

Love/Hate relationship with this VERY EXPENSIVE stove -- Induction stovetop is phenomenal; I adore how fast it heats up / cools down. AquaLift Self-Cleaning is a joke ... I wind up scrubbing like it was the 1950's. If they'd replace this useless new technology with the old "cremate the grease/dirt" self-clean I'd give this range 5 stars and not regret having spent so much money on an oven that will never be as clean as my old cheap one.

I am so happy with the cooktop. I love induction cooking. The oven seems to cook just fine. My last oven cooked very hot and this one maybe a little cooler. So I have had to add a minute or two to recommended baking times. No big problem. I was little disappointed in a couple of areas. The area around the cooking surface is black and I know this is a minor thing except all of our other new whirlpool appliances have gray sides or accents so this is really the only black I have on the appliances. Again not major just odd. The other thing is the function buttons on the oven are not touch screen and you really have to push hard on the buttons. The cooktop has the touch screen so it's just odd and kinda cheap that they wouldn't have them the same. Induction ranges are quite expensive and whirlpool is among the lowest price so I guess these shortcuts are to be expected. The noises the cooktop make are different but I have not found them objectionable at all. It clicks and hums as the magnets heat up but it doesn't bother me. The one major thing I love is the temp control and also no more scraping the cooktop to keep it clean like our last range. Nothing gets burned to the surface. I accidentally left a sticker on the bottom of a new pan and added water and set it to boil to test it to make sure it worked on the top and I boiled the water for about 1minute and then removed the pot, poured out the water a noticed the sticker. It wasn't burned at all! It even peeled off easily. This was cool. So I would def buy again. I just would love to see some minor design changes.

If you are new to induction, download the owner's manual and read the care instructions to ensure you want to commit to this range top. It is beautifully sleet, no knobs. BUT, to keep it pristine, you can't drip even water on the top or it may burn it and stain Stirring big pots of food can easily grind against the top causing scratches no matter how careful you want to be. It is like having a new puppy to care for. And what is with keeping the oven door open 6 inches while broiling? I wanted to reduce heat radiating into the kitchen and broiling is a nightmare. Really looks great though.

The only problem is the user manual, it must have been written by an engineer who is totally fimilar with stove. manuals should be write for users that have no idea how it works an should go step by step with illiutrations
