Not a good choice if you plan to cook on it very often. Even with nearly new Pampered Chef pots and carefully following the precautions it gets scratches that don't polish out. When we called in our concerns we were politely told that it was our fault and there was nothing that they would do. So everything else in the kitchen looks new and people think we kept an old cooktop around.

Comments about Maytag 30" Stainless Steel Electric Cooktop:
Great design - big burners in the back, small ones in the front. That way no one burns themselves when reaching over a big hot pot, to stir a smaller one in the back!!! Also love that the design has the controls in the middle. Much easier and safer than reaching over controls on the left or on the right, over a hot pot to turn it off! Seems like an intuitive design, but Maytag is the only one we found that had both these features. We cook on it every day, 2 or 3 times a day for a family of 5 + guests. It's 3 yrs old - and sadly started cracking from the left to the right. I'm not sure why, we were starting to preheat a frying pan to sear a steak when we heard a loud "POP" and saw the crack, and took the pan off and stopped using the cooktop. The crack has since (over the last week) migrated from the small left front burner to the large back right burner. (We had to duct tape the crack because it's so sharp.)Waiting for the new one to be installed at the end of the week. Very happy to have found the same design again in WHITE !!! The only reason I gave 4 stars, is because it only lasted 3 yrs.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

my dad had me order this cooktop as a replacement for the old stovetop. it is an attractive unit. two problems. one it doesn't have a skirt so there is a crack between counter and stove top allowing room for crumbs and such to get in there. second it pulses on and off to keep a constant temp. my dad did not realize that (84 yrs old) and turned it up full blast allowing the contents of the pot to boil over. other than these two things it is a great, reasonably priced unit.

I have had this stovetop a couple of months. It replaced a 16 year old stovetop. I love the quick heat and dual heat options. It definitely gives me better options for cooking...especially certain dishes, pasta for example.

We replaced our old coil element cooktop and we are sure glad we did. This new one has excellent heat control and cleans up real nice. Since the cooktop is flat, the pans sit level - not at an angle like with the element style which are hard to keep level. With just a bit of elbow grease, the cooktop looks like new!

I bought this as a gift for my son's new home they moved into. Everything needed replacing. When i gave them the appliances, they went through the roof. she loves this cooktop. Easy to clean(they are messy), and amazing features. Maytag's the best!

I installed this a month ago to replace another Maytag we inherited with a house purchase five years before. The cook-top works well, and the "Speed dial" setting is very fast at heating to high temps. The main drawback is the configuration of two small front and two large back elements. One of the large elements would be more versatile with a dual sized element.

Burner failed withing 3 months of use. Power light would stay on even when stove is cold. Tried to repair under warranty but it would still cost $150 for the service call, which is not covered by warranty.
