My new home is almost all carpet. I have used the vacuum several times since I moved in, and the carpet looks good. The machine is quite maneuverable which makes for easy cleaning around furniture. There is no downside to this machine.

This is a great vacuum. Very effective, not too loud, good settings to let you adjust for different tasks. But it is heavy. I live in an apartment so I can manage, but I would not want to carry this up and down stairs.
