My main focus of this review is the Induction top. I have always cooked on gas ranges (45 + years). The home we just moved into is all electric and I have been having a horrible time adapting. We looked into getting gas installed but there was just no easy way to have it done. So I started researching Induction ranges. Took me a while to locate one at a store to actually look at. It wasn't hooked up to try out but at least I could get a feel for how it would work. Took a gamble and bought it. I have to say it is amazing. It definitely heats up quick. I can put 2 1/2 quarts of tap water in a 3 quart pan and it will be a rolling boil in just over 3 minutes. The number system for heat adjustments is very easy to use and understand.I think the biggest drawback to purchasing one is that even the salesmen are not very educated in there use. When I inquired if I could use my cast iron pans on it, I got a very definitive "NO" but when I made him drag out the owners manual to verify that, it stated it was OK to use them. He was shocked.I've learned:* They do make noise on the lower settings. You hear the magnet pulse. No big deal, makes a light clicking sound.* The surface does get hot under the pan. But you can put your hand within a 1/2" from the pan and the surface of the range is still cool.* I have a flat bottomed Wok and it works wonderfully on this range.* It is amazingly easy to clean* It is incredibly responsive to heat adjustments.* The kitchen stays cooler.* The stove top meals cook quicker, so I am spending less time in the kitchen.Drawbacks, only a few:* I have not found a non-stick skillet that will work on it. No biggie to me* You can't use a 2 burner grill pan.* A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If you or a family member has a pacemaker, consult with your doctor or the manufacture before you purchase. The oven functions nicely, I still prefer a gas oven, but I have no complaints with this one. I really love the interior finish on the oven and how easy it is to clean. Love the large viewing window and the split rack is a nice feature. The convection feature is easy to use.

The lower door has openings to allow to air to escape. Unfortunately, this also allows spills to enter between the glass panes on the door. After three months the door looks filthy. I contacted Whirlpool regarding how to clean this and I was advised that I needed to have a service tech come out to clean my door. It is considered a "cosmetic" problem and is not covered under warranty. There is no way to avoid normal spills when using the oven. While I do like the double oven feature, it's not worth it to have my oven looking like I haven't wiped the door down, even though it was just cleaned. I was very excited when I purchased this very expensive oven and I'm sorry I wasted my money.

Comments about Whirlpool 30" Stainless Steel Double Oven Freestanding Electric Range:
I purchased this range about a month ago. I read the reviews, and for the money, it seemed like a great buy, especially with the double ovens. However, the ovens didn't cook well. By that I mean that they didn't cook evenly (front to back), and things that my wife had cooked many times before using the same recipe and same temperature would burn on the outside but be undercooked on the inside. One recipe in particular called for 400 degrees. Because she had already burned it once, she decided the next time to start at 375, which was still burning, and then had to turn it down to 350, which still burnet. There is a temperature calibration option, but the most you can calibrate it is 30 degrees. Also, in my opinion, I should not be required to calibrate a new oven, especially when the manual even tells you that you can't use a thermometer to do so because they're not accurate enough. So, I guess I'm just supposed to keep burning my food until I get it right? If that were the end of it, I would have given it 1 star, but I chose to give it another shot since the reviews had been so positive. With something like this, I wasn't about to mess with service companies. So, I was able to return the range to the store where I bought it and they sent me a new one. This one seems to work much much better. Food cooks very evenly. So, give it another couple of months, and I may have upgraded to 5 stars.

It's great to cook two different things at once.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Everything works better then I expected. However, jut like so many others, when transitioning from burner to glass top, it is challenging to keep the glass top clean. It cooks, bakes, and warms well.

It's been a year now and love the ease of operation. The only problem is using the lower oven. I wish that was a about 2 inches off the floor. I always seem to hit my toes with the oven door.

Not What I expected!

Bought the appliance 14 months ago and have already had to replace a sensor. Was told there wasn't a recall. Temp went from 350 to 430. Disappointed!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
oven element is uneven
from Kaneohe, Hawaii
Unfortunately, the element in top oven doesn't heat evenly. It will burn to a crisp whatever's over one area, and leave almost raw whatever's over another, and varies other areas. auwe! Should have asked for a refund on the range but instead immediately tossed my large toaster oven, which I used a lot, and the range it replaced. (Every element on old range heated evenly: except a top burner which went out and was too expensive to replace.)Love the idea of a double oven, small one on top, to replace my toaster oven. It preheats in just minutes! Also like the warming element, and the burners heat faster than the range it replaced.Until I figure out how to get even cooking in top oven (haven't tried bottom one yet) I'll hate it and cry each time I use it. So disappointed!

Fast heating times. Looks good. Works well.

I have had the over for two months and am very happy with the over and stove top. I have only used the top over and stove top, no need yet for the larger over. The versatility of the five burner stove top is great. The over looks good and is easy to maintain. The burners get scratched up from pots and pans.
Great Double Oven

My husband surprised me New Year's Day with this oven and I love it! It is so sleek and clean and does a wonderful job of cooking evenly. Love the warm zone feature too.
